No kid deserves to be brought into this world poor or into a broken hand. Think it thru having one kid realistically is what many people should have done . Exactly! I wish more people only had one child! What matters more is the parent you are towards the kid! Not all sibling relationships are positive! Believe it or not half the families in europe are one child families which is honestly really refreshing!
Partly why I had one child. I can be a great parent to one much of the time. Two or more I would be very average or even poor due to time and financial commitments. And mental health! Kids are forever!

I’m the mother of an adult female child. My husband and I planned on having two children. Due to a very difficult pregnancy, preeclampsia, we opted to not risk another pregnancy. I’m very close with my daughter, she is my best friend. It’s been difficult for me when she’s moved out. It’s makes me feel sad, but I’ve always let her do her own thing and make her own decisions. She knows that if she needs to move back in due to financial circumstances, she can. She’s not attached or dating. She just moved into an apartment and for the first time she will not have any roommates. She’s excited about doing her own thing and decorating her new place.
I had one child and my health is a wreck I can never have more. Now she is 5 and lonely leaving me guilty of if not providing a sibling. If I had known motherhood is soooo draining I would never have had one at first place. As people are lazy , active good bad and etc… society has to change its view on this and embrace childfree lives as equals to family with 10 kids.
Lol having a sibling doesn't guarantee your child won't be lonely let alone would they get along. Does she have any friends or cousins? Have you ever tried having regular playdates for her?
When my son was 6 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was a very long and hard battle and much of the time I had little energy. He was in school when I had brain surgery so that kept him occupied much of the day, and when summer rolled around I made sure that I took him to our neighborhood park every day at lunchtime. If you're in the US, look up the summer meal sites and it will tell you where lunches are served to kids every weekday. It's always a park or school, and the lunches are free, and there's usually some sort of activity going on. We would go and stay for an hour or two. On my really horrible days I would take a blanket and nap in the sun while my son got to run and play and have a nutritious lunch that I didn't have to make lol. And even if that was the only thing that I did that day I felt good about it. It is horrible to be sick and have a young child who needs their mama, but at that age they don't need much. My son was happy with our trip to the park each day.
I am also a only child for 22 years now and growing up being the only child was a blast bc I got everything that I asked for . My mom said I was a handful so I scared her into not having another one . I use to have a blast I was my own friend lol. I grew up with my boy cousins so they felt like brothers to me . But they also made me appreciate being the only child bc they will annoy the heck out me when they come over . Being the only child I didn’t have to wait for someone to get out the bathroom . I had peace and quite at night. I didn’t have to share my belongs. Now I have a son who is 6 months old in a few weeks. He is very active now and demanding so I think I am a One and Done parent bc he is a handful😂😂 plus a lot is going on in the world today and expenses
I love this ♥️ I’m a huge fan of Jen. She brings awareness to families with only children. Her page is refreshing and honest. Our daughter is an only child and we love giving her all of our love and attention xo
I’m only having one child I have older siblings that I don’t even talk too I felt like the only child growing up. My fiancé was an only child growing up and he loved it. Personally financially I think it’s best for us to have only one child I am also older and I already been through a miscarriage. I don’t want to be pregnant multiple times and it’s just the best choice for me. He wants two but financially it’s best for us to have just one child.
This was a fantastic interview. Thanks Jen for your page and for opening up about your decision to be #oneanddone. Like you, this was a conscious choice for myself and family, and I am glad you are opening the doors for this new societal norm.
Moral of the story is: MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS AND YOUR OWN HOMES!!! If the child is being raised in a heathy, stable environment, then leave them alone AND MIND YOUR OWN!!!!
It sounds really sensible to take no interest in demographic trends. They cannot be relevant to anyone, right? How could demographic be perhaps the single most important factor in how the future of society pans out. Mind our own. And don’t bother to pay tax either.
@@sunnywintermorning1941Those of you who are concerned about “demographic trends” can just have more of your own kids and quit worrying about the rest of us.
@@triggered577 in your model, would those who have kids get tax breaks equivalent to the economic contribution their children are statistically forecast to make? Or instead, those who don’t have kids get penalized, like no social security or health care or what have you? Either model sounds pretty MadMax to me. Plenty to worry about, albeit I won’t be around for when the worst of it crunches. In a society, there’s no ‘us’ & ‘them’; only ‘we’.
I never wanted kids at all, but found myself pregnant at 28 and decided to go ahead with the pregnancy. I'm glad that I did, the 18 years that I've been this boy's mama have brought me much joy. I do wish that I would have given him a sibling, though. I have been dealing with some serious health issues and my greatest fear is him being alone in the world. I know that I will die first, at least I hope so, but I worry that my time will come before he has found his village. I have friends who are my chosen family and expect that he will have the same, but until then I will worry. I just want him to be okay. It's a long walk when you're alone ❤
As a parentified child I support this message I only have one but had to help raise 4 syblings with ABSOLUTELY NO THANK YOUS so yea i definitely didn't wanna do that to my child.
My mom is an only child and she is like oh I was so lonely! Like not all sibling relationships are positive! I love onlies! Less is more! Wish there were more onlies! I’m a 2000 baby! Siblings are too expensive! If I have kids I’m only having one kid! Not only cuz cheaper but I want better relationship with my child!
I don't understand how a only child could be so lonely. They are the only child, but it's not like they are lonely on a deserted island with no people around. I doubt ONE sibling would make that much difference in helping with loneliness. For example, if you are a 13-year old girl, do you really want to hang around your 9 year old baby brother all time? I doubt it. She would probably complain about having to babysit her younger sibling and view the sibilng as a burden.
@@renealexander2703 Exactly this. My sister and I were four years apart, and we had our own social circles and peer groups. We each would have done fine as single kids. People need to stop thinking that they should have a second kid to give their first kid a playmate. Worst case scenario, the siblings may end up hating and actively trying to harm each other. I knew a pair of brothers like this because their parents only had the second so that the first wouldn't be lonely. The entire family suffered for it.
I'm pregnant with my first, and pregnancy has been really difficult, physically. I dont know whether I want to do this again. I was an only child and I liked it, but i dont want to regret it in the future.
I had hyperemesis garvadirum with my first and luckily I didn’t need to work during this time and my husband was deployed. When my son was 18 months old, I got pregnant again and also experienced more intense side effects of hyperemesis. I couldn’t get food down or water for days. I was going to the hospital for IV treatments and I eventually gave up. I realized I couldn’t do it so we terminanted the pregnancy. My son is very high needs and I feel like I would have regretted KEEPING the pregnancy because it would have been unfair for all of us. Mama, you have so much time to decide. We will most likely be fostering or adopting in the future. The child doesn’t have to come from your body either 🩷
If only my republican mother stuck to one Child. She spread her legs in the name of Christ and lived off assistance. Siblings aren’t guaranteed to love eachother and I wish people knew that
I hated my sibling the whole childhood I dreamed of being the only child. Never understood why parents had another child while they already had me. If I ever dare to have another child, my kids will have bigger age gap because I don't want them to fight and compete for attention
It is much more better to have only one child; for family, for kid, for society, for economy, for ecology, for quality of life and for all the planet! 👉👪👍
Nah sorry im in my first pregnancy (still very early) and my husband and i have arleady said we are already a one and done family. Like i couldnt imagine going through another pregnancy i have never in life felt this bad 😂-honsetly i have no idea how other women have gone through more than one pregnancy to have more children 😅 like are you crazy ? Surely its easier to have one child ? And slightly cheaper
Yep me too I'm 7 months pregnant and we have already said this is going to be our only child. The life I can give one child will be infinitely better than the one I could give to two. My husband and I will also be able to maintain our own lives and independence just having one child whereas with two or more your life pretty much ends up being all about the kids until they move out as you're so busy doing things for them. I also don't want to give up work which realistically I'd have to do if we had more than 1 kid as full time childcare costs about £1800 per child per month where I live in the UK and neither of our parents are supporting us with that. If you have parents who are happy to take care of your kids for you several days a week so you don't have to fork out thousands on childcare, or you're happy to be a stay at home parent then that's great, good for you, but that's not our situation so kindly back TF off and stop asking if we will have another!!
If I should have a child, I would prefer to realistically have one child for financial reasons and the energy it takes to raise a child, then have more than one. The resources dwindle and stretch thin when you expand your family. If you can afford it, have as many as you can afford. I know realistically to give a child a great life and educational experience, is to spend a certain amount of money on that.
To be fair, if I wanted to have children, I'd settle for one. Raising kids expensive and I don't know why other families care even care, it's not their life! And it's not their business either.
(I want several kids) BUT Historically multiple children were for survival of the human race & infants had died early - we are over populated globally & selfish ambition, capitalism is rife
Instead of pestering people who have been financially, mentally and emotionally responsible to know they only want to have one child and who take good care of that child - how about we question those who have multiple children without money to provide for them, who neglect them and are all around shitty parents? Just an idea...
It hurts people think this. I am happy to have one and done, however I do struggle wishing I had one more. However, I am 44 now and cannot. My daughter is always surrounded by kids and yes I am afraid she will be alone, I do feel better she has siblings from her dad side. Why dont men get asked this?
I didn't feel guilty having one child. My son is the youngest of 3. His father already had 2 girls. He didn't grow up closely with them. He is my only child but he knows he's not an only child in the world. He is well educated. No debts. Lives on his own. I don't think I could have helped him achieve that with a second child.
Having siblings are overrated. I don't know why parents assume their children will be great friends in the future. Most of my friends and I'm extremely extroverted always were surprised to learn I had multiple siblings. That's how rarely they factored into my life and we aren't even estranged. Personality determines if you will get along with your siblings not simply because we're family. I've chosen to make my best friends both male and female my family as when I've been in crisis, they have been the ones who understood and cared to help. Really don't have multiple kids assuming they will be close just because they share the same DNA. I told my dad who I am close with that unfortunately when he passes, I will probably never see my siblings again as they live in different states and we rarely talk, just the occasional text for birthdays and holidays. He seems sad but didn't push. I said I am just being honest...
Personally it’s every Woman’s choice what they do with their body. This has nothing to do with finance, especially if they have experienced this before. The show is one and done not none and done!
Pregnancy and delivery were beautiful times for me. Sleepless nights? Not beautiful. I’m debating n having another one and my husband doesn’t want another child 👧
It’s not biologically beneficial to have only one baby. I believe that industrialized birth (in hospitals) has traumatized women and babies into not wanting more kids. I have 4 and it requires every bit of me most days but I don’t regret any of it!
Yeah, so many women only want one child after experiencing traumatic hospital births. This is why I am a supporter of home births for low risk pregnancies
I am currently weighing my options, just had my first and I may have second but idk now.. I’m a second child for my parents second marriage I can’t imagine life without my big brother and he is truly my best friend. The only person we know that is a only child is an alcoholic
I was one and done but she’ll be 5 in September and I’m changing my mind. It’s not even about happiness. Life has changed and if I’m able to have another, I will.
….do you know what it’s like to always be alone to throw the football with no one to catch it,to have on every Video game that has 2 player for 99% of the time to play against a robot… Being an only child is like this one death and it’s a partnership To have a twin bed… it’s another reminder and you know Something sad most only children’s mothers and fathers are old which means by the time they are 15 their mothers are in menopause… Do you know what it’s like to watch Malcom in the middle and relate to the parents as a child You know the worst part of it…you the parent probably had siblings and you had uncles Your children’s children won’t have any of your fun whacky memories from your aunt or uncle Bottom line is being an only child is worse then being a child with siblings
I did not like having a sibling. He is five years older than me and we barely spoke to each other as children. Now we are nearing retirement and there's very little contact. His wife died and he phoned....it had been about four years.
It's called having friends and cousins! I was an only child for 12 amazing years, but I admit I would ask my mom for a sister and guess what I ended up with twin sisters that my mom dumped on me every chance that she got. Not so fun.
Nope. Two parent household with a mom who loved cooking and being a mom. Dad who is my favorite person. Sometimes different personalities mean you just won't get along. You know like the person in your office that can be nails on a chalkboard? Or someone whom is just indifferent. Siblings do not guarantee a close relationship especially when everyone lives in different states and are living their own lives. Parents hope that their kids will always get along but that unfortunately isn't always the case. You can't force closeness.

Understand this completely I have 3 siblings and it’s ehhh I feel like an only child
I’m one and done and sterilized so no oops baby for me. All of my resources go to daughter and I still get to enjoy my me time.
Definitely getting sterilized after 1 please God 😂
I’m absolutely 1 & done!! My daughter is gorgeous & close to genius level smart… I’m very scared to see what may come out next 😂😂😂 LMBO

Love Jen & the OAD community! Wonderful interview!
Just imagine you at the ER at 1am in the morning with two or more kids because they are sick. I mean people don't talk about the cons of having kids.
My money is proper for just 1 and done. My child has plenty of friends and cousins.
The child doesn’t have to come from your body either 🩷
one and done momma right here :) ❤
If only my republican mother stuck to one Child. She spread her legs in the name of Christ and lived off assistance. Siblings aren’t guaranteed to love eachother and I wish people knew that
The clowns who shame single-child parents probably can’t even afford multiple kids.

Having a only child is crazy. I myself am one and done and its just a thord person having dinner with a couple . We are a family ❤
Hahaha 😂 real
Only children have it made!!!! That’s the sweet life
To be fair, if I wanted to have children, I'd settle for one. Raising kids expensive and I don't know why other families care even care, it's not their life! And it's not their business either.
(I want several kids) BUT Historically multiple children were for survival of the human race & infants had died early - we are over populated globally & selfish ambition, capitalism is rife
I have 3 kids and I love them all so much. If you’re 1 and done that’s ok I don’t see why people have an issue.
Always remember just bc you have more than one it doesn’t guarantee they will have a good relationship.
I'm one and done
Personally it’s every Woman’s choice what they do with their body. This has nothing to do with finance, especially if they have experienced this before. The show is one and done not none and done!
Thank god.. that No religion harmed in this video…
Pregnancy and delivery were beautiful times for me. Sleepless nights? Not beautiful. I’m debating n having another one and my husband doesn’t want another child 👧
Explain that to the Jewish people 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
JD Vance, are you listening?
It’s not biologically beneficial to have only one baby. I believe that industrialized birth (in hospitals) has traumatized women and babies into not wanting more kids. I have 4 and it requires every bit of me most days but I don’t regret any of it!
Yeah, so many women only want one child after experiencing traumatic hospital births. This is why I am a supporter of home births for low risk pregnancies
I am currently weighing my options, just had my first and
I may have second but idk now..
I’m a second child for my parents second marriage
I can’t imagine life without my big brother and he is truly my best friend.
The only person we know that is a only child is an alcoholic
I was one and done but she’ll be 5 in September and I’m changing my mind. It’s not even about happiness. Life has changed and if I’m able to have another, I will.
Just don't be a single mom.
….do you know what it’s like to always be alone to throw the football with no one to catch it,to have on every Video game that has 2 player for 99% of the time to play against a robot…
Being an only child is like this one death and it’s a partnership
To have a twin bed… it’s another reminder and you know Something sad most only children’s mothers and fathers are old which means by the time they are 15 their mothers are in menopause…
Do you know what it’s like to watch Malcom in the middle and relate to the parents as a child
You know the worst part of it…you the parent probably had siblings and you had uncles
Your children’s children won’t have any of your fun whacky memories from your aunt or uncle
Bottom line is being an only child is worse then being a child with siblings
I did not like having a sibling. He is five years older than me and we barely spoke to each other as children. Now we are nearing retirement and there's very little contact. His wife died and he phoned....it had been about four years.
Omgggg, that’s depressing
It's called having friends and cousins! I was an only child for 12 amazing years, but I admit I would ask my mom for a sister and guess what I ended up with twin sisters that my mom dumped on me every chance that she got. Not so fun.
Why do you still make your audience wear masks!!??? Please stop the insanity!

A lot of y’all who don’t like y’all siblings seems like y’all didn’t have parents who wanted y’all in the first place
@@agravery223 closeness and getting along is not the same thing. And I said ALOT, not all.
