You and I have joined the same years of the mkal, dear Linda.😂 It all are very beautiful shawls. And I love all the colour combinations you’ve made for this year’s mkal. Enjoy Spain.😘💃🏻
Oopsie!! I was way behind in watching podcasts. I just finished watching your latest podcast and love the grays you picked!! Enjoy this new shawl making and Spain!! ❤
I love all your shawls but your twist and turns is my favorite. ❤I made a twist and turns but I was disappointed with my colors. Your colors inspire me to make another one. It’s so beautiful 🤩
great video, thanks! I have a suggestion: If you cannot print, take a screenshot of all the pattern pages on your ipad. this way it is so easy to find it on your device. I always do that, I never print. I choosed a blue option for the MKAL. happy knittings ! greatings from 🇨🇭
I haven't made a Steven West shawl, but I greatly enjoyed your review of the ones you have made. Color choices are so hard for me. I liked your purple skeins, but the greys will be lovely! I can't wait to see your shawl--and have fun in Spain!
I love your podcast. But I gotta tell you you are just beautiful. I love your makeup too. I’m 46 and starting to get clumps of gray and I’m so excited. I really enjoy watching you too especially your misadventures sometimes you crack me up but you always make me feel better about my own misadventures and I’m even finding them kinda funny thanks to you. Your a lovely woman and thank you for what you do. 🥰
Thank you for such kind comments Jennifer. I am so glad you are getting a kick out of my episodes.. this IS all about “ For the FUN of Knit!… I love this craft and if I can’t laugh at myself…. Lol. Happy Knitting🤗
I love your color choice for this years MKAL. By now you've probably heard that clue 1 has changed. I decided to go with Stephen's test knitter Ines's design for clue 1. I'm working on the 1st section now. Work keeps getting in the way of my knitting.
Isn’t that true about work getting in the way!… but it does enable you to buy yarn❤️❤️❤️. Your shawl will be beautiful anyway you decide to knit it-enjoy!🤗
Thank you for this podcast…so many memories of watching you with the previous SW shawls, I have been watching through them all. Safe travels, happy knitting. Looking forward to updates from Spain on your shawl knitting. Love your colour choices, lots of use from them and will be super useful. Take care.
love the colours u chose. happy travels, after seeing the alternate clue one I may change to my grey options and do the alternative, once I read his comments I couldn't unsee it.
Hi Jo-Anne,, quite the conversation on going. Whatever you decide - original or alternative- will be awesome and beautiful. I am knitting the original and Loving the way it is turning out. 🤗
I watched Stephen West video at 3:30am while prepping for a colonoscopy that day. Was pretty bummed I couldn’t start till the next day. Was finishing up color c on section 1 when the new clue dropped. Was easy to frog back. I didn’t notice the similarities when I first saw it in the wee hours of the morning, later I showed the finished square to my hubby and he said if you turned it you could see the similarities. I’m doing the Fireclay gradient from Life in the Longgrass. Splurged this year. Love the yarn and the warm fall colors. I did love the building of the first square but the new square does have a lot of individual options. I might put a lace section in it if I get brave enough! Linda enjoy Spain! Safe travels!💗💗💗
Hi Mary, hoping you procedure went well- A very important one!. Your yarn choice is lovely and whichever way you decide to knit your shawl( original or adapted)!it will be amazing! Happy knitting❤️❤️❤️
Stephen, I love the design so far. I’ve been on grandma duty so I haven’t even started. I do not see a resemblance to that awful symbol of hate. Please do not take down this video as I plan to make the original version. Thank you. You’re a genius. Hugs and love from Deep South Texas.
@@forthefunofknit5322 Hi Linda! I meant to post that on Stephen’s video. Lol. Sorry about that. Grandma brain. After further consideration, I’m conflicted. I haven’t started yet so I’m still pondering. Saludos! ❤️
@@nancymorales2741 no worries Nancy …like I said -I sent a similar message… I have chewed on it all day and no change me. Each of us has to do what is most true for ourselves.. so you do you whatever your decision and I sincerely hope you enjoy the end product( knit)… In spite Of the drama… I am enjoying the ease of this first clue as it was written originally 👏👏🤗
If I were shopping your stash I'd have chosen #5, but kind of knew you'd go with the greys. Lol. Have a great trip away. I am knitting on section 2 as I watch. 🧶
Thank you Heather.. the colour palate was a tough choice for sure!. Just finishing Clue1 ( the original) and very happy with how it turned out. Can’t wait for Clue 2!👏👏👏
I can't wait to see your shawl with those lovely greys and the bling! I'm glad you still intend on wearing your Twists and Turns as I think it's so pretty on you with your colouring. Nicest version I've seen! Great podcast idea doing all your Stephen West shawls including all the adventures and restarts. It's very inspiring and helps to alleviate the pressure we put on ourselves to 'get it right' from the beginning. They all turned out so beautifully in the end! I've started my first MKAL! Yay! Have a safe journey, Linda!
Love your choice. I went way outside of my comfort zone this year (pinks). Such a fun video. Looking forward to following your progress. Ten of us from our local group are knitting along here on the hot US/Mexico border (Deep South Texas). I’ve shared your channel with all of them. Some were already following you. Thank you for sharing and buen viaje! Hugs!
Happy Monday Nancy- and sorry for the late reply on this post- jet lag. Uhg!.So nice to hear I have knitting peeps in Deep South Texas❤️. I plan on visiting there in the next year or so. One destination among many in future travel plans- lol. Happy Knitting my friend🤗
@@forthefunofknit5322 No worries. I’m sure you’re busy as well as jet lagged. Please let me know if you do visit these parts. Would love to get together. Hugs!
Ooo... I love the original colors of your "Christmas Shawl". They are my colors and I wear them sll the time. You can give me the piece you cut off. Lol.
Linda I love the choice you made. It is going to be stunning. I am one of the knitters that is sitting on the fence...teetering....!! Not sure I have the right stash. I haven't knit his mystery shawl KAL's yet. Only after I see the finished shawl. Hmm! Don't know if I'll commit. I'll be watching your progress. Have fun.
Thanks for continuing to watch Kathy. Guessing you are glad you waited given all the drama around this pattern. I am loving the knit and after much much much discussion and thought I have decided to continue with the original pattern. If not this MKAL season for you I would still highly recommend for Next Year. Happy Knitting🤗
Yes! Drama. Who would've thought in a knitting design. I feel bad for Stephen West. He works so hard to make the MKAL fun. On a happy note, I can't wait to see your progress. Loved seeing your mom and hearing all about your trip. Enjoy!
My gradient is almost the same as yours, just maybe half a shade darker. This is my first Steven west pattern, and I was absolutely inspired by your twists and turns shawl to give it a try.
That is awesome! Hoping you Can put the drama to the side and just enjoy the knit. Whichever way you decide to knit the pattern( original or revised) It will be a beautiful shawl - you cannot go wrong. 🤗
Ooooof your number 6 combination just snapped my heart in half -- in fact, an odd request: if you could bring yourself to destash those 4 skeins I would pay you, no questions asked. I searched Sweet Fiber and MadTosh HARD to try to source that exact combination, but a couple are missing. Would you be willing to destash if I make it easy for you?? (No rush, not for the West MKAL)
Thank you for watching and very sorry for the late reply. I will consider when I get home in November. I love the grungy combo so I have to think on it. I will let you know either way in November. In the meantime ..Happy knitting🤗
I confess, I've never liked the designs. I'm short (5' 1 1/2") and can't handle all that "stuff" going on in a single shawl. I knit a mystery shawl by someone else several years ago, and though I liked my colour choices, I didn't like the end result, and donated it to a Thrift Shop! I've two Stephen West patterns in my library -- both free, plain and simple. One is a scarf/shawlette that I've not made, and one is the Boneyard Shawl, which I've made and would make again. But these designs? You couldn't pay me to make one!
Thank you for watching Margaret🤗 I totally see your point.. some of the shawls I categorize as “Art”-lol meaning… fun to make but not 100% wearable. That said… the MKAL fun for me is due in large part to all the new techniques and design elements I would not otherwise ever love exposed to. From a wardrobe stand point I too prefer his more plain designs❤️
Gorgeous choice! Have fun! I love Stephen West too.
