No, then you are punishing the good cops who don't behave as these clowns did. It should come directly from each one of their asset sheets such as Bank Accounts, Homes, Cars, Vacation Properties, etc.
Sadly, many of these "bad cops" are not dumb and they often don't have too much put in their own names. Isn't it ironic that "bad people" in general such as bad cops, bad attorneys, bad politicians, deadbeat dads (and moms), etc. don't ever seem to have many assets to their name but they always seem to be driving around in newer vehicles and living in nice houses?

@@gabiehazieMore and more jurisdictions are enforcing "duty to intervene" laws on LEO's - though not always used to it's full extent it's definitely a step in the right direction.
A big part of the problem is the Blue Line Culture of corruption and retaliation within departments. Good cops who intervene when bad cops overstep, or report their misconduct, are routinely retaliated against. Bad Cops go unpunished while Good Cops get punished for violating the Blue Line culture.
Legislating a mandatory duty to intervene helps to protect Good Cops - if you have no choice but to intervene then you're not a traitor or a rat anymore.
This is what we need to reform law enforcement - things that will encourage and protect Good Cops when they intervene or report misconduct.

Of course they should. It is the taxpayer that elects the politicians that hire the crooked cops. What should never be allowed is non-disclosure. All settlements with government entities should be public knowledge, maybe even be required to be published in local news and media. When taxpayers see how much of their tax dollars are being used for this, they may decide to do something about it.

@@demond1818 Then CHANGE your LEADERS, it’s that simple. One bad apple ruins the bunch. Any of them turn bad then fire them immediately do not allow a resignation. Resignation allows the officer to just change jurisdiction and no issues. A termination goes on his PERMANENT personnel file so he will have to change careers. Add to that you can’t kick out a citizen during public comment. That’s an automatic lawsuit. Cohen v California, Turner v Driver, Smith v Cumming, the list goes on and on about filming and free speech against public officials. You can spend your entire time during public comment telling them to F-off and there is NOTHING that can be done. The open session of a council meeting is a traditional public forum. You can’t go in and do it during a closed session but open is perfectly acceptable.

It has stopped surprising me that cops don't know the law. "Graffiti", by legal definition, has to be "permanent". Chalk has been litigated in multiple jurisdictions and because it is "impermanent" - it washes away with water - it CANNOT BE GRAFFITI.
Just like "trespassing": Cops arrest people for it **all the time**... but don't know the legal requirements to KNOW if someone is trespassing. And they don't know that the requirements for trespassing are DIFFERENT for PRIVATE property and PUBLIC property (in most states).
So many other crimes that the cops enforce WITHOUT knowing **what the crime actually IS.**

Why, why, why don't these auditors and citizens LEARN that when they are NOT breaking the law nor can they be reasonably SUSPECTED of having broken the law and cops ask them if they have ID...they NEED TO SAT, "I don't wish to give up my Fourth Amendment right to remain anonymous, you have ILLEGALLY detained me for NO crime committed and I don't CONSENT to any searches...if you TAKE my ID from me you will be VIOLATING my protected rights." Always INFORM the cops that they are about to break the law and violate your rights, and that they are about to break MORE laws if they keep going, then SUE THEM BACK TO THE STONE AGE later in federal court with YOUR cam video and THEIR body cam video PROVING that you warned them and what THEY DID anyway!
