The thing that has helped me the most, which I was super reluctant to do, is to stop using a wash cloth/loofah. I’ve always felt like I wasn’t washing well enough if I wasn’t scrubbing, but ironically that is what was causing the hyperpigmentation.

So, basically, 1. Treat the rash 2. Wash with acne body wash and a soft cloth 3. Use a sharp razor that is nickel free with conditioner to shave 4. Use anti perspirant that is odorless and good for sensitive skin. And if this fails, see a dermatologist.

I Just use Kojic acid soap. The soap is made from rice derivatives and commonly use widely for skin whitening. All natural ingredients. No other chemicals except from rice. It worked for me within 7 days and had been using the soap since then to maintain and even out my skin tone. You don't even need a deodorant if you don't sweat. She's right, Perspiration causes BO. Amazon sells the soap. Make sure you pick the one with rice as main ingredients to avoid getting a fake one. I like the one that says Kojie Sans Soap. These soaps are popular in Asia.

I am experiencing discoloration after using a "natural" deodorant with tons of fragrance and the active ingredient of mandelic acid. - yg oily neutrogena cleanser tu okay digunakan under armpits jgk as exfoliator
    - jgn guna scrub for underarms it's not good
    - before shave, lubricate it, use conditioner is okay, leave for a few seconds biar dia hydrate dulu then shave
-hypoclorus acid spray is very good utk org yg deal with pigmentation and body odour sbb dia reduce the bacteria yg cause it, dia tak kurangkan sweat but dia deal with the odour. nk spray berapa kali pun takpe. SkinSmart Antimicrobial Wound Therapy, Hypochlorous Acid

I don’t usually have very dark underarms, but I started using a body scrubbed there thinking it would make them lighter than they are.I started to notice they got dark, and I stopped using the scrubber there.I pluck my armpits, not shave, and I never have an issue with that. I don’t have a whole bush of armpit hairs, and there aren’t that many thick ones compared to when I used to shave and not as many in total. I don’t usually have underarm odor, but in the summer I use a mineral salt stone as my natural and fragrance free deodorant, and it really works.

That is the reason I can't do natural deodorants. Baking soda in that stuff is *harsh* like you wouldn't believe. Nothing wrong with aluminum in anti perspirants, at least my doctors don't think so; so I just keep using what I have always used.

    • @lorencappelson6475
      @lorencappelson6475 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

It's likely the baking soda in the deodorant that may have caused this. I know that was the case for me before I switched to a baking-soda free variety and it made all the difference, if you care to keep using a natural deodorant. But yeah, man that was a terrible experience. I had legit PIMPLES on my underarms - huge, irritated, stubborn pimples plus general rashy irritation. It was terrible. Never again am I putting baking soda anywhere near my underarms, I am surprised anyone is ever able to use it!

I used someone's shaver for a last minute underarm shaving, and started having rash. So upsetting and in a matter of weeks, my underarm become completely dark. Doctor wasn't sure, there was no fungi, bacterial treatment didn't work either. All I can do now is moisturize to stop the itch and hoping the darkness go away :(

Can you recommend the best way to fade hyperpigmentation from laser hair removal? I burned my leg years ago and decided to give laser another try because I thought the first person who treated me may have been incompetent. My skin is fair. I followed all the protocol, and I'd gotten other areas of the body lasered at other places with no problem. Unfortunately I got burned again. I don't know if the initial burn made my skin more sensitive or what. My skin is still really splotchy and uneven more than a year later. I was really hoping to have normal skin by this spring/summer so I could go swimming again without feeling self-conscious. .

I use zinc oxide diaper cream as deodorant. My skin is so sensitive....no stink and gentle. Have to make sure doesnt have balsam of Peru or fir oil in it, though....learned the hard way. My dark underarms have lightened considerably once I stopped using products that irritated my skin.

Happy Friday Dr. Dray! Could you post a video about sunglasses and protection from the Sun? There are so many price points and the sticker or tag says UVA/UVB protection. Would a pair of sunglasses from Walmart be as effective as a better quality brand for UVA/UVB protection? Thx 😊

Hi dr. Dray! Thank you for all the info.
What’s your say about using beauty oil for hyperpigmentation on underarms, the one’s that are usually use for stretch marks and dark spots (bio oil or Palmer’s skin therapy oil)?
Also, what would be your recommendation/directions on how to use the vani cream and the barrier creams? Like should I use them on top of each other or which one should go on skin first?

In or around? I might check with a gynecologist if you're talking internally. There are channels by Scary Mommy (the Madge the Vag playlist), Doctor Mama Jones and Dr. Jennifer Lincoln. If you mean around the bikini area, she replied in the comments that they are fine for that area.

I haven't shaved my underarms for 3 months and I now, only use deodorants without aluminium. I use arm and hammer. Believe me, my armpits are getting lighter. I am going to get my armpits sugared, like I have done to my lady area.

I've had dark armpits since I was pregnant with my children...and they're now young adults! 😏. I too have used A&H to help lighten the pigmentation, but it's never been back to my normal skin tone.
However, after I started getting my underarms sugared in the last 6 months, OMG, they're back to being normal again! And the plus side is not only is the regrowth reduced, but it's also finer hair so less noticeable.
