Pat, that means the world coming from you. I learned about lighting and how to film b-roll from your website and podcasts. I'm stoked that I could give back to you and others in the hobby.
For sure is! I used to get so frustrated when loading cards into storage boxes, and they would fall over like a stack of dominoes lol makes it way more manageable using the pads.
Definitely one the most helpful videos I come across in the Pokémon realm. Please do more these type of tutorial videos and I am sure all collectors appreciate it. Much better than the speculative analysis videos every PokeTuber is doing. Keep up the great work!
That means a lot! I spent a good bit of time editing this one, so I really appreciate the kind words and you taking the time to comment on it. Thank you!
Glad to see the cards falling over isn’t just a me problem. Using foam pads to prevent them from falling over is a simple yet effective method. I don’t have a whole lot of bulk, but I’ve using magnets that stick to the boxes walls to hold the cards in place.
super helpful video! I’ve started collecting digimon cards and have been trying to figure out how to sort all of them since they quickly outgrew my boxes 😅
That's awesome! I'm glad this was helpful for ya! Regardless of trading card you collect, this system will help you stay organized. Hope this can help you tackle your bulk!
I really like the looks of them too. The only downside is that those old school labels take a bit more time to make because it's mechanical label maker and you have to dial in each letter versus typing it out on the digital label makers. But they look so much cooler. lol it's a vintage dymo label maker if you're interested in getting one.
@johnbranham3159 I'm having a good day. I'm just relaxing watching movies going through cards and staying warm inside during this snowstorm. Hope you have a great day also, buddy. Thanks for stopping in and saying hello 👋
Hi! I’m really new to collecting, and I really want to compete the scarlet violet base set. My question is what is the difference between matte cards, the cards with shiny bits on the move list, and the ones with rainbow holographics? Which ones should I be using to complete my set? Or should I throw them all in?
Great video and methods! Another great tip would be to sort by color when opening any packs especially if you're like me who opens multiple booster boxes per release in one day. That way you already have them sorted and can build a binder quickly and store the dupes. Another tip would be to have a separate box for trainer cards from every set as they tend to be the most resalable cards so having them sorted and all in one place would make less of a hassle.
Very good points for sure. I really like the ideas of sorting by color, too. For sure would make set building much easier. I do need to refine my trainer sorting as well. That may be something I make content on in the future. As of right now, I build play set binders of all the important and playable cards that are used in most meta decks, and that's been helpful for sure. Thanks for watching and sharing your approaches to sorting. Appreciate it 😁
Wondering where you got the foam? I see that they are sold online but i’m wondering if i can get some for cheap and cut them down like you did. Thank you!
Depending on how much bulk it is, you could use a priority mail shipping box and layer the inside with bubble wrap and you could wrap the sorted bulk in plastic cling wrap to keep them from shifting around and then tape the box well. Check out TCG Bulk Kings on youtube. He has videos specifically on shipping bulk and other videos regarding shipping bulk. Hope that helps!
@PokemonManiacs I'm in the northeastern Ohio area. Very close to Full Grip games. My goal is to get into a Gym Leader challenge tournament this year and just do a few tournaments around the Ohio and Pennsylvania local leagues.
how do u sort the cards effectively into ur already existing bulk storage. Like if u have a half finished set and want to sort more bulk into the same set that u already alphabetically sorted?
Let's go! I'm stoked for ya, John! It's great once they hit the binder. Now you can appreciate them in the binder or if you play the tcg, you can easily find the cards you need to build decks! Good stuff 👍
Whatever sets you like best. I like to complete sets that I enjoy the arts of or have memories tied to like Shining Legends and Cosmic Eclipse, for example. All depends on your goals and tastes in collecting.
@sleepysaiken3984 Hey, sorry for the delay in response! I actually got them from packaging materials that came inside fragile items. When I bought a new TV and computer monitor, those foam pads come inside to help protect them. I'm sure there is a supplier for them out there on the internet. I've heard of some people having success using pool noodles and cutting them down to similar sizes as I did with mine. Hope that helps!
You can look into setting up a TCGplayer account to sell your bulk, or you can look into gamestores that offer bulk trade-ins. Some places that come to mind are TCG Bulk, Safari Zone, or Full Grip Games. These game stores and websites offer bulk trade-ins if you don't want to deal with selling each card individually. I hope that helps!
I only use one sorting tray. Like I mentioned in the video, it's optional. You can do all this without it. It all comes down to th table space. The bigger the table, the easier it's gonna be to sort all the Pokémon energy types.
where do you get your foam pads from? I know BCW has them, but I was wondering if there was a cheaper option. Also, what card dividers do you have in your video which you've bought in bulk?
The foam actually comes from the protective foam that came in packages from electronics I've purchased like T.V.s and other fragile things. I've heard of people use pool noodles before too. And the card dividers are linked in the description. I like to use the plastic dividers and and buy them in 200 count boxes.
@@professorburch thank you. those are great ideas on how to source the foams. Wanting to try and start selling on tcgplayer and want to keep my start up cost as low as possible.
Seems like a good way of sorting but i like to just sort 1 set at a time to be honest. Sit down with some youtube or Netflix and just sort i tbh find it kinda fun😅
You can do it like that, but I eventually wana get back to selling on TCGPlayer and when you print out a pick list or invoice of the cards you sold, TCGPlayer will list them alphabetically on the invoice and this just makes it a little easier when you go to pull the cards. However, if you don't intend to use TCGPlayer, then you can do it by set number if you want, but It will be a little more time-consuming separating it numerically. I hope that helped clear things up!
Yes, mainly for TCGPlayer/ebay to locate the cards. Once I fill out my sets in binders, all the bulk is intended to be resold to help buy new cards. On TCGPlayer, the invoice or pick lists are laid out in alphabetical order. And for eBay, it's just easier to search for the card based on the first letter of the Pokémon name for me personally. There are people who do prefer to sort by number too and if that's easier for you, then I'd encourage it for sure.
Bulk can be sold in larger lots. You should at least throw it somewhere and let it build up over time. It's kind of like earning points every purchase you make. Could save you on a whole other booster box someday
Great video! Definitely needed for a lot of people, myself included 😅

The foam pad is a game changer 😂

I found the most stress free way. I sold all my cards for a ton of money 😎👍

Coming back after a hiatus and dropping a Gem of a video! Great stuff Burch
Ayye, thanks Walrus! Yeah, I put little extra effort into this one. Appreciate you, bro.
While there wasnt anything revolutionary in this video, it was really well shot, edited, and overall presented. A+
It bothers me the binder wasnt done by number - To each his own tho 🙂
i love this channel. when i saw he only had 758 subs i was in shock. keep up the good work my man
That comment made my day. Thank you so much for the kind words, and thanks for watching!
@professorburch no problem bro ❤️
Just curious on why you wouldn't organize by set number.
This is pretty much my system minus the fancy black divider thing. Great video!
Amazing video, can’t believe I haven’t found your channel sooner!
Welcome, PokeBrit! Thank you for the kind words. It took quite some time to edit this one to explain my process. So Im happy you found it helpful!
Hey question:i saw someone made spine labels for Pokemon sets and can you please do a video about that?
I was looking for videos like this, and this was the only one I could find! This helped a lot.
I'm really happy to hear that! Glad it helped. This is the kind of content I was looking for when I got back into collecting & playing
Hey there i order binder spines for my pokemon cards sets am gonna to put the bider spines in binders that way I know what card set it is.

Good luck, Drew! I hope this helps make it easier for you. It feels great once you finally get stuff organized and get it all squared away.
Love the old school typewriter style labels! I might steal that 😅

what do i do if they don't sell these card storage boxes in my country?
This is so satisfying
how would you *ship* sorted pokemon cards? (in luggage, or fedex'd etc accross an ocean)

I feel like I should just start gifting my bulk to my cousin's kids, the local game store, thrift store, etc.
Not a bad idea at all. Plenty of kids and less fortunate people who would truly appreciate it
This video gave me motivation to sort my cards, thank you😄
Great video
Great advice!
Hi how do I get the books like 151 set and other to show me what I need to complete a set?😮
They're usually found inside ETBs but you can probably buy them online, should be pretty cheap.

I sort my bulk by set # and put them in etb boxes with Dividers. What do you even do with bulk? I have no card shops around me and roughly 20k in bulk

What about instead of alphabetical, organize them numerically by their set number? Or is that not as good?

I basically do the foam pad in my storage boxes except I use a piece of a foam pool noodle.
Those work great, too. The foam pads come in different kinds of packages as protection, but I just hold onto them for the storage boxes.
But where did he get that foam?! :O

i sort them by rarity
I, too, hoard cardboard.

Why not just give them all to me 😁
I’m not gonna lie, I throw them away cause I barely have any space for extra anything
You throw. Away bulk 😮
Thank God I dont have this problem all my bulk goes right back to a bulk buyer for free booster boxes 😏
I donate my bulk to my local trash disposal spot
Why alphabetize when you’ve already sorted by number?… personally I use the sets etb but have came to a point where I need multiple..
Play this in 1.25 speed
I usually do, but I found this pace very relaxing and enjoyable
Once I complete the set, I throw the rest of the bulk away lol
