1. If the guile is throwing booms he must be charging back. Walk him down. 2. Practice perfect parrying the slow booms, then jumpwhile he's throwing the followup boom 3. Sonic blade is unsafe in neutral with a huge low hurtbox. SWEEP THE LEG. 4. Drive rush bazooka knee is 0 up close and +1 when slightly spaced, parry and force a trade in the 0 situation 5. Guile will trade health for screen positioning in the corner, jump back aerial to keep him in the corner instead of crosscut. 6. Practice whiff punishing guile's c.mk its one of his best normals so prioritize punishing it. 7. You don't need to pressure guile in the corner focus on keeping him there before approaching. 8. Upsidedown kick is -8 find your characters punish 9. C.mk is -5, many st.lk's can punish it. That also means DR c.mk is minus. -1, take your turn instead of respecting the drive rush 10. Guile's target combooff of c.mk is also -5. Punish when possible and challenge when you can't. 11. Sobat has a hurtbox, try to whiff punish it with a high hitting normal like st.hk 12. Sobat is -6, Punish that shit! Wrote these to help me remember. Hope they help you too.
this is cool & all but all good guile players know this & respond accordingly. which is why u dont see guile getting punished for anything in high level matches. the only thing people end up getting is a lucky jump in but other than that guile is a brick wall & he bricked up 🤣😂🤣
@MrSuRpRiS33 I agree Guiles defense is strong, thats why being ready to exploit gaps in the defense is so important and thats why angry bird made it the subject of video
Point 1 is actually not right because he can charge a bum without taking a step back and holding block down (and he can also charge his dp with the same motion)
I'm a Guile main and I can tell you optimal range for Guile is slightly farther than the round start position (like one character width). You will almost certainly need to jump at some point to get in but do not jump from that range unless you like the taste of Timberlain's, booms at that range are jump traps. The slight delay you need before you jump forward gives me time to recover and flash kick. C. MK and upside down kick are very difficult to punish if well spaced. The example punishes in this video are all done at a range where I will use c. MP or a light, not MK. If Guile is using a lot of C. MK remember that it is not cancelable and has long recovery, DI crushes it hard if you guess right. Hint: To guess right walk forward and press DI when just the boot will reach if Guile presses C. MK, it's a gamble for sure but it works often enough because that is the range where I use c. MK a lot because very few 5F moves can actually reach from there. Plus I'm using c. MK as a poke there trying to provoke a jump because if I can get you to jump then you're going to eat a H Flash Kick back to safe booming distance. Also a neutral jump will not work as bait there either, Flash kick has excellent horizontal range in front and will hit a neutral jump at c. MK range. If you're too close when you DI and I've switched to c. MP range you will get DI back because c. MP IS cancelable.
Why do all his advices sound like he's threatening me? I love it because next time I face a guile I will remember everything just to avoid angrybird from getting angry at me
Its just expression your not familiar with is all. If you tried talking mandarin you could come off totally offensive without knowing the nuance of how to express the words
@@mattinwinkymg I say it in a good way. I also think it's also part of his personality and how he expressed which why "angry" is part of his name. It's weird because he talks aggressively in a motivational way
Angrybird thank you so much for the content my man, stuck in plat 4 atm but every little bit of knowledge like this makes leveling up feel attainable, appreciate you king
haha I laughed so hard when you said you're coming for Sim. Not him, SIM. I love the guides so far, as they're very straightforward and everything can be applied right away with play time. Thank you my brother!
Man I'm glad that we have players like this who give out free tech to the commumity, I was only silver in sf5 but with all the useful content and some application of training mode I just made it to Plat 1, thank you to the birds and the community!
I didnt know about the Perfect Parry jump OS until this video. I’ve done it a handful of times online already against Guile, and every single time the Guile has frozen up a bit watching me in the air. It's basically free pressure until you do it more than once and they have a chance to figure out what is happening. Thanks for the tips
dude ,,, this is extremely helpful and practical . became an instant fan after you won EVO and i wish you the best . would love to see a Marisa guide as i believe you have tons of experience against her since she is your training partner main .
this is helpful, I play world tour and any NPC using Guile style is broken AF swear they're reading my inputs too because there is no way the CPU of world tour always know what I am going to push or do so, they parry or block everything mainly talking the Extra Nayshall Tournaments after the main one, thank you for this guide.
I play guile and I felt so called out when he started going through all of my habits lol This is a really good video, watching this to develop counterplay to the counterplay listed here 😈
This super useful even to me as a Guile main lol. Edit : Couple more things to mention. If you aren’t confident about whiff punishing, Guile buttons are very vulnerable to DI because most of them are not cancellable. Also showing them that you aren’t afraid to jump at Guile is good. Especially at close range once you have him focused on ground game. If you have ways to modify your jump arc that can be very helpful too. Guile has a lot of air to air and anti air options but knowing which one to use is very tricky. Cross cut flash kick has been quite difficult for me to do consistently too.
It's only somewhat true about being weak to DI because, the buttons he is going to be poking with are his kicks. 4LK, 4/6Mk, 2MK, 5MK, 6HK, and sweep are all unable to be canceled, true. 4LK(Knee Bazooka) is quick to recover however and his sweep can go into 3HK making it safer to di. 4HK is cancellable into supers so it can be a threat with meter. All of his punches are cancellable minus Crouching Heavy Punch, 6HP, and his overhead. While many of his best moves are unable to beat DI he has buttons that he can use to stay safer if the opponent demands it.
Played against a Master Guile in casual and I couldn't win a single game. Hopped on this video real quick to see how I can fight against Guile. Played the same Master Guile in a custom room FT5. Even though I lost to him 4-5 he was impressed of how much I improved in 20 mins just after watching this video hahah
JP guide was great, been beating JP characters more consistently since then, I find them confused now when focus is kept on closing the distance in neutral, jzk for that.
Amjad, you are the man! 🙌 These guides are brilliant. I'm guessing you will do them for the whole cast, they would be great to see. Love the foreshadowing for Dhalsim... I have seen you play that match-up and some of your tech is mind-blowing. The way you punish every whiff with raw DR jab is sick. Can't wait for that one! Oh one more thing. Maybe link or add a video of you playing against a top character in the guide at the end to see the tips in action. For example, I remember you playing one of the top Chinese Guile players recently: th-cam.com/video/ixW85m9Nz-Y/w-d-xo.html Maybe add that footage like this at the end. Or if you have time, talk about the match on a replay, to understand your decision making. Anyway you and Adel are two shining lights in the community. It's hard not to root for you both!
11:00 that part cracked me up! LMAO please read guys can't you see it's -8. Angrybird is right. And thank you for this great guide and knowledge appreciate it!
I watched this as a master guile to cover my own weaknesses and he's right about everything here, there are moves that deep down I know aren't safe but people assume they are because it looks far but it seems like ken can punish so many of these cr mediums, sobats, forward heavies and the worst part is guile kinda has to do these at OPTIMAL spacing which isn't easy. If I know my opponent can't punish forward heavy I feel like my ability to chip their drive is wayyy more powerful but if I came across someone like Angry Bird I'd feel like I lost many powerful tools to chip meter
Thank you for your service against this most heinous evil. If I may offer a tip in return: checkout "shortcuts" in the training menu then you won't need to open the menu to start/stop/change replay slots, reset back to neutral, toggle wake attacks and so on; just hit 2 buttons together (they're customizable).
The question I have when you said keep Guile in the corner 8:47s when Guile jumps most of the time the higher level players understand the strategy used against him and Guile has (Air) grab so its also hard to jump or keep him in the corner when he grabs you out of the air. How do you deal with it when they are doing (Air) grab?
This shows how hard is to use Guile. Even rush is a disadvantage (and very hard to chain to useful fast combos after the rush). Most normals are punishable. It is almost unfair but yet it stays my favourite character since always.
1. If the guile is throwing booms he must be charging back. Walk him down.
2. Practice perfect parrying the slow booms, then jumpwhile he's throwing the followup boom
3. Sonic blade is unsafe in neutral with a huge low hurtbox. SWEEP THE LEG.

Its because he cares about you! Dont get sonic boomed!
I'm laughing how he's constantly begging us to not fuck up. "Guys! Guys, PLEASE!"
😂😂😂
"Look at this, LOOK AT THIS." I've never looked so hard in my life.
Literal EVO winner angrily shouting "LOOK HOW EASY THIS IS? WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE REST OF YOU??" XD I fucking love it.

The way the pros talk strat is incredible! Thanks for this!
You have such a great knowledge of this game.
I would really love a guide on Honda. Those Diamond Hondas kick my ass so bad.
Same I can’t stand his gimmicks and he has the most boring archetype to fight against

I still don't understand how the OS jump works.
This was a great highly specific guide with actionable information.
I'll need to lab some stuff after seeing this but I'd love more of these guides.
These tutorials are great. Love you guys' content!
My main character!! No need to talk lets do this!! Great video, lots to learn champ
Angry Bird is awesome! Love these videos bro!
great video my friend!! as Guile player myself, shocked alot of people havent sussed how to play against him better
Angrybird is out here doing God's work. Great video!
I love the way he says "Look at this" everytime he resets the training room.
Can't believe I've let them get away with all that until now, thanks for the guide !

would love to see a Marisa guide as i believe you have tons of experience against her since she is your training partner main .
AB the type of coach we all need, threatening but carrying at the same time, keep the good guides coming!
Throwing chairs and choking us out (no offense Coach Bobby Knight).

It is very interesting, you should do this kind of content for the entire cast. Greetings from Morocco with love
angry bird and big bird are beasts !!!! thank you habibi!!
Great video! Haha you're so passionate about the game and I felt like you were shouting at us.
You're amazing man!
Awesome vid. As a Cammy player I am looking forward to your "Defeat Cammy" guide to tighten up my defenses.
lmao!
I play guile and I felt so called out when he started going through all of my habits lol
This is a really good video, watching this to develop counterplay to the counterplay listed here 😈
This might be a lot to ask but. You guys should do the rest of the cast. These are very practical and immediately help the moment you apply these.
The best of the FGC.
Thank you sooo much for this !
This super useful even to me as a Guile main lol.

I may be a Guile player, but this is a great video! There are some tips in here that are great to be mindful of when playing*as* Guile!
The bird is dropping good content love to see it!
I absolutely love these Ken guides. Thank you!

Great tutorial, I subscribed. Now waiting for the Deejay video.
just adding a comment because this video is legendary
Loved the content, thanks for sharing and helping make us better
This video is a great lesson. I personally find Guile to be the hardest character to fight.
Yo this is amazing knowledge, ive learnt more to this fighting tactics than ever thanks angry bird!
Thanks for the guide dude this is great stuff!
Great guide. Guile player here, looking for holes in my own play
Loving this series so far keep ‘em coming

Glad I learned early on I could sweep guile doing sonic blade
Thanks for the guide
Awesome guide thanks man
As a Guile main, this also is a good list of things to be more conservative with. Very good video!
I love that you’re emphasizing optimal punishes , it’s very Tekken like to me. Most SF players just throw when they don’t know their punishes
Love me some tekken block punish
This is exactly what I needed, thank you king 👑
Love the enthusiasm, great guide
Thank you boss! It will really help me against him!
Nice explanation of available options against Guile
best sf6 video of all time
step 2: be good
Damn, I’m hard stuck on step 2 😢
*git gud

I didn’t know sonic blade was vulnerable to lows. That’s a great tip actually. Cause visually it looks like a huge active hitbox.
