Dang, I can’t help but notice Angrybird’s account is no longer Rookie. I kind of liked seeing that, it felt like a deliberate statement about Ranked. Gonna miss it.
I think Ken will always be relevant because he’s arguably the most stable top tier. The other top tiers have higher peaks, but weaknesses of some kind. Ken maybe doesn’t reach the insane potency of a Bison or Rashid, but he will always be good in this meta.
I think we normalized how strong Ken is : - Best Yolo in the game - Hits like a Truck - CRAZY corner carry - CRAZY corner Damage - Average/good neutral - Has a throw loop - Doesn't necessarily spend meter to do damage
Sometimes it's hard to hear you guys over the button presses so I tend to stop paying attention. You should get lavalier microphones. You voices will come through loud and clear.
Its fun seeing the explanations but i think the relative powerlevel of most tournament viable characters is close enough that it doesn't matter. Obviously there are advantages to certain characters but not to the point where i am surprised by Cammy winning vs Ed or whoever is top 5 or 10 even. As a casual though i need Bison shot dead, tired of his ease of use vs his effectiveness. Really boring to see him do tons of dmg off easy stuff with lame combos and he's just everywhere.
Nah man, bison has some sauce... the thing is that the sauce from meterless but only from bomb. Ideally they should keep the interesting combos as good damage and reduce the dumb ones... But they wont do that because its too complex.
Completely agree with Angry Bird's accessment the crouching medium kick. This is actually something that Ryu really suffers in. As Ryu sweep is 8 frames and, sadly, is slightly shorter than Ken, he often get trumps in close up scramble situations when he is up against the likes of Cammy, Ken, Rashi, Chun Li, Akuma, insert-the-top-tier-character-you-want-here. What they need to do is what Angry Bird suggested which is either reduce the fames to 7 frames to make it match Ken so he can compete in a scamble sitation, or extend the range of the attack. That's perfectly fair even though he deserves more in consideration of what all those top tier characters can do. I really want Capcom to turn Ryu around. In fact, turn all the lower tier around so they can scramble and truly compete against the top tier characters. Only then the game will become near balanced.
I can't see what would make Ed the best character in the game. No overheads, sub-standard fireball since it needs two stages to fire, bad anti-airs, no command throws to reliably threaten tap parry attempts and every invincible reversal can be safely OS'd. Of course, he does have some great advantages like possibly the best 5 frame in the game, a "shoto fierce", the dream combo for corner carry and meter efficiency, safe pressure and tons of safe jump setups. But there's so much to exploit in his gameplan that I don't see him being better than Akuma, Rashid, Bison, Ken or Cammy.
Yes daigo also said that when this game released, this game is fast pace and lots of fifty fifty guessing, it needs at least FT3 to be fair for the better player.
Love when so many people have something to say or argue the birds when they literally just sit online and play and don’t compete or even play high level to understand why they are saying that. Gotta fight the best to understand why they say things about certain characters
Angrybird was wrong about Akuma. Now he has joined the Akuma bandwagon. AB's opinion is just based on who is doing well at present. Leshar is doing well with Ed, so suddenly Ed is number 1. Top players are just as biased an unscientific as we are.
everyone who plays the game is entitled to their own opinions about it, the game doesn't revolve only around the top 0.1% players lol that being said, people should for sure be open to the opinion of top players instead of arguing/hating for no reason
@@universalman5861 Hello, you're making the mistake of assuming that a Pro can't make a mistake(which btw he clearly stated in the same breath that he might just be approaching Akuma wrong and the character is not the best for his playstyle) and that they're opinions are to be viewed at the same level as any casual player, that is just incorrect. he's still a Ken main btw, he just wants to give Akuma another chance and find the character fun. When AB said Akuma had stubby normals when he released I didn't feel it as much because at a lower level I was just wiff punishing with his heavies all day, but Ken and Ryu's st.HP and cr.MK are just way better. Ken's in particular.
It's facts. The reason so many people hate Ken is because they are hardstuck ranked scrubs and Ken is really popular so they play against him all the time and can't beat him. Most people don't even bother labbing jinrai and yet still complain about it. He's pretty annoying but he's nothing special compared to utter nonsense like Akuma, Bison and Rashid.
Everybody always lists Cammy in top tier but I never get why; she has low damage, rather stubby normals, no fireball drive-rush (and unlike season 1 can't punish fireballs on reaction unless she has level 3), her buttons don't seem privileged in any way to me (as an example her low mk is 8 frame, while her low mp is 7 frame), she has no overhead or command grab (not that current command grab characters are good), she can't use EX moves in combos very well (one of the reasons why she has low damage), they just removed her sideswitch combo. Is it just the fact that her dp can switch sides and that she can punish throws with instant dive kick?
God like forward throw / walk speed, multiple side swaps, excellent corner carry, best level 3 in the game, great buttons and divekick, and yeah very scary to throw loop her if she has any drive gauge. After switching to Aki I really do not agree that Cammy's normals are stubby at all.
What low damage ? Are you serius, anti-fireball, throw loops, auto-shimmy, the Best lvl 3 in the Game, easy anti air, corner carry always and plus frame omg...
Man I am sick of seeing cammy players crying about "not being able to punish fireballs on reaction". Brother as long as you are not literally right in front of someone it's still insanely easy to do with spinning knuckle... Even if you don't want to do that, just short hop dive kick... She does NOT have stubby normals, go compare her hitboxes/hurtboxes to just about any other rushdown. Her 2HP is actually a godlike button, especially for meaty situations. She literally does have both an overhead and a command grab built into the same option in hooligan. She still has a sideswitch combo, she just lost some damage on it. Side switching EXDP. Insanely good walkspeed and shimmy threat. Cammy downplay has actually become more insane than the Ken downplay...
Punish throws? That's the least worrisome thing about it. All the grappler's in the game can punish wakeup throws with command grabs. You can literally use Cammy's dive kick to punish any normal over 5 frames. And if she guesses wrong but spaces properly she's plus 3 on block. For randomly throwing out the quickest air to ground move in the game. Add that with an ungodly walk speed, good normals and a better strike\throw game than grapplers. Nothing worse than having Cammy in yuh hole.
How can ed be top tier without an over head mix up. Weakest jab. Cr. MP into drive rush range is not as good. Reversal DP is slow as hell. The only plus normal he has can be ducked.
His Jabs keep you at bay and use as a constant check for every counter you unleash while protecting himself. Combine that with his insanely unfair psycho vine and his tiny punish windows and cover parries, it easily puts him in the top 4 category. Before I thought he was at least Top 7, but thinking deeper further he is Top 5 if not Top 4.
Keep in mind Ed is doing extremely well in Japan where they typically play slower. Also keep in mind its about stability in tournaments and Ed is often very safe when playing mid range and often his flicker pressure can't be punished easily. I can see the argument even if I dont think he is the best in terms of power level and/or ease of use
His snatcher is definitely the best projectile in the game because it beats wake up super and is plus on block which gives him a strike throw mix. His range is also one of the best in the game along with his multiple combo routes. His lvl 2 is one of the best of not the best (it beats rashids lvl2 if they clash) and he builds meter with a lvl2 combo. And his jab is actually pretty good for pressure. His cr lk is also the best in the game because of its range and being 4f. Plus he has a low forward, multiple cancelable normals and a wake up dp like all top tiers do
This clearly shows how fraudulent this game is. This ryu is clearly no match for neither birds but he can abuse throw loops and get a few lucky interactions and win a major.
