I get that people download stuff off the gallery, but I really wish she would worry less about limiting packs. What’s the point in having all the packs if you’re not going to use them?
I do agree that she should use the packs she has but as someone with only Cats and Dogs and base game I like it when she uses limited packs. Ok we NEED her to do a ‘realistic’ renovation challenge, where you there’s no moving windows or doors and keeping the kitchen and bathroom in the same place
I'd say for this, come up with a price she has to deduct for moving walls, doors, etc. Since you can do that realistically as well, it's just costly. Or like if she wants to move plumbing she has to pay a certain amount.

In BRITAIN in my house we enter a hallway turn left to the living room or carry on to the kitchen/dining and then a long hallway to the right has everything else off it, like bedrooms bathrooms 2 offices etc
I'd say most houses in Europe in general. I'm from Eastern Europe, our hallway is also long and big. I don't even remember seeing a home without a hallway. Even my *tiny* uni dorm has one
I LOVE making house plans into the sims like this. My advice -> One wall square (small door size) is about 3 feet. So when I see rooms that are like 12'x15' I translate it to be about 4 sims squares by 5 sims grid squares. Love these floorplan recreate videos
Most interior doors are between 28 and 32 inches wide (add a few more inches to include frame width). A door and frame in-game takes up 1 tile width. Staircases and hallways are about 36 inches wide. Appliances are just under 36 inches wide. Additionally, counter depth is about 24 inches, and the counters in-game are about two-thirds the depth of a tile. All this real-world to in-game comparison means each tile is about 36 inches or 3 feet wide! I've been doing this conversion since The Sims 2 and it works perfectly. :) Luckily, a lot of rooms in floorplans go in increments of 3 feet, so like a 12 foot by 15 foot room. Most bathroom are 6 by 9 feet approximately. Makes it easy! Of course, once you get to 14 foot or 10 foot rooms, you have to decide whether to round up or down, but usually the surrounding spaces will let you know how to fit it best. Diagonals are much harder of course, but I like the challenge!! :)
I need Kayla to stop only doing base game and just build what she wants using what she has. Only base games house are so bland and boring 9 times out of 10 and always end up looking the same
My biggest piece of advice for people is to actually pay attention to the dimensions on the floor plan. A square in the sims is about a yard square (3sqft) so if a room is 12x12, it should be 4 tiles by 4 tiles or so. It definitely helps get the scale a liiiittle easier!
When you play in the SIms you can either try and make everything match and blend or you can just not care and do what pleases you- it's really the only way to make a good build.
you should definitely do more of your traditional builds to stay some-what in your comfort zone except branch out and use more furniture that you typically don't use, like drifting away from the stuff you gravitate towards and make it work, you could even start a new series called "Make It Work" or something, id love the see that!
I have a sliding glass door story. Young me had a problem telling if the glass doors were open or closed, and the amount of times I ran full speed into the door became such a consistent problem that my parents put stickers on them full time so I could tell if they were open or not 😭
When working off real life floorplans, in my experience the best thing to keep a similar scale is to count the built-in sections like counters in sims terms. Or count the windows. Counters and windows (singles) are one tile wide, so you can get an idea how wide or long a room will be by that. Some minor adjustments have to be made to account for sims spacing around objects they use, but otherwise this method makes it really easy to translate a floorplan without much guesswork!
When I work off irl floor plans, I usually start with the kitchen to get the scale, since the counters and appliances are pretty accurate imo. Also, if it has measurements, if you divide by 3, it gets pretty close.
When she said it was a tight kitchen I had flashbacks if my parents kitchen which is far tighter in comparison... the fridge does not open all the way and there is a small bump out that was made just to add an oven since it originally was built with a communal fireplace for cooking.
I once recreated my dad's house that has a garage and made that the gym room. Made the house before I got get together so the closets space were random stuff inside.
In the floor plan, the kitchen has either a door or archway to the den-dining and has what looks like a hidey hole (half wall) section into the living-dining.
Build challenge: look on Zillow, pick a house, and use the pictures and the description to build the house. Like build the front and back of the house and the yard as it in in the pictures, and try to figure out the floor plan using only the pictures and the description given
1 square in the Sims is roughly equivalent to 3' x 3' in "real life." If you're trying to convert a real floor plan to the Sims, the best way generally is to divide by three, and then add one square if you have any remainder. So the 13x13 den/dining room would end up being a 5x5 in the Sims (13/3 is 4, with 1 remainder, so round up to 5). The dining room's double doors would then be placed 2 squares from the front wall of the house and would have 1 square above them. This would also put the stairs 2 squares from the front wall, and the front entry would be 3 squares wide. This would have given room for a 2x3 square bathroom in front of the stairs upstairs. Similarly, the 22x15 Living/Dining room would equate to 8x5 squares - which also fits fits the 5 squares for the dining room + 3 squares for the front entry. The kitchen looks to be roughly the same dimensions as the den/dining room, and the stairs would end at the wall between the kitchen and den, leaving 3 squares for the bathroom and 1 square for the door. Anyway, if you use the basic 1 square = 3' x 3' rule, it makes converting simple floorplans like this one into sims houses much easier.
There’s a secret to figuring out scale and it’s much easier now that we can freely place doors and windows to match layouts too. The secret to getting the scale right is to locate a single door or window on the floor plan and think of that size as equal to one tile in the sims. By that calculation we can see that there should be two tiles in front of the stairs on the bottom floor with a window on a half tile between them.
I use the formula of 1 Sims tile is roughly equal to 2.5-3 square feet. I've been able to fairly accurately recrate my house and my parent's house in the Sims using this formula.
I NEVER understood why EA put BASIC SQUARE COLUMNS IN AN EXPANSION PACK. Like???? A standard square and a standard circle column should be a base game necessity but nooooo EA doesn’t consider things like that. ALSO CAN WE PLEASE have the ability to put columns on half tiles
This is what I do whenever I can't come up with my own house design (so like 9 out of 10 times lol). There are some really cool floor plans out there! I usually turn a garage into a home gym or music room
I was just thinking to myself, why didn’t she just put the garage down a platform at the start? I personally don’t meddle with platforms a lot so I don’t know if that would work, but couldn’t she have just, put everything on a foundation, then done the garage *inside* one down (or whatever) on a platform and then it would have been ground level and would have been perfectly fine?
you should do a build where you can use any pack- except for base game. I don’t think it’d be that hard but it’d be interesting see, especially to those of us with many packs but not sure how to use them all!

Ssshh, you’re give us away to the humans.
She's onto us 😬
its the internet we're all bots
grab my popcorn, it’s time to go through the comments
Using professionally made floorplans are the only way I build. I always have to alter them to fit Sims building scale but it always helps.
I LOVE making house plans into the sims like this. My advice -> One wall square (small door size) is about 3 feet. So when I see rooms that are like 12'x15' I translate it to be about 4 sims squares by 5 sims grid squares. Love these floorplan recreate videos
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO POST ALL DAY

Hi
@jordyn hi
@jordyn who me
Most interior doors are between 28 and 32 inches wide (add a few more inches to include frame width).
Only base games house are so bland and boring 9 times out of 10 and always end up looking the same
Absolutely agree
My biggest piece of advice for people is to actually pay attention to the dimensions on the floor plan. A square in the sims is about a yard square (3sqft) so if a room is 12x12, it should be 4 tiles by 4 tiles or so. It definitely helps get the scale a liiiittle easier!
Me: finally some walls, hallway
Kayla: It would look so much better without it I will make renovation where I will make it open
Me: ach
Lmao, in Belgium these kind of houses are normal, she keeps saying that the hallway is long... but it’s often like this. I couldn’t help but laugh
Kayla: this room is too small, nothing fits and it doesn't make sense
Also Kayla: *makes rooms smaller than the plan*
When you play in the SIms you can either try and make everything match and blend or you can just not care and do what pleases you- it's really the only way to make a good build.
Can you please do “every room is a different animal crossing villager” from your island ? I think that would be so cute 🥺🥺🥺
I’m always desperate for half tiles! Especially for chimney breasts inside the house because putting one in as a full tile is just too much 😩
I would love to see you making a house out of CC packs and stuff :))
you should definitely do more of your traditional builds to stay some-what in your comfort zone except branch out and use more furniture that you typically don't use, like drifting away from the stuff you gravitate towards and make it work, you could even start a new series called "Make It Work" or something, id love the see that!
U should do EVERY PACK I HAVE CHALLENGE. This would be interesting.
When I'm finally out of hospital/rehab I'mma binge play sims. I just realized I've never build my own house before. Lol now I'm dieing to.
Get well soon❤❤
Thank you!
While building this house "they don't match I hate this game!!!!"
17 minutes later when the bunkbed update is out "I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!"
When I work off irl floor plans, I usually start with the kitchen to get the scale, since the counters and appliances are pretty accurate imo. Also, if it has measurements, if you divide by 3, it gets pretty close.
Why is no one else kinda shook that the render of the house looks sims 3 adjacent because that's totally messing with my head
Kaylas videos just feel so comforting. I come here daily to just feel at peace and have fun 😊
Who else thought she was going to post a let’s play today?

Are we moving the LP to Wednesday then?
I am hoping for it tomorrow or Wednesday!!!☺️
@@swiftlyelisha I never got that emoji like why are you smiling!?!!
@@Islatodd23 oooh I’m not it’s an emoji when they’re smiling but with a tear so yeah sorry
When she said it was a tight kitchen I had flashbacks if my parents kitchen which is far tighter in comparison... the fridge does not open all the way and there is a small bump out that was made just to add an oven since it originally was built with a communal fireplace for cooking.
I just tried to build my family home growing up in the sims, basic 1 story floor plan and yes the scaling is horrible lol
I once recreated my dad's house that has a garage and made that the gym room. Made the house before I got get together so the closets space were random stuff inside.
I'm predicting "this is fine, everything is fine"
lmaoooo i read this as soon as she said it 😭😭😭
In the floor plan, the kitchen has either a door or archway to the den-dining and has what looks like a hidey hole (half wall) section into the living-dining.
Kayla, we don't want base game build, you can use all packs
Build challenge: look on Zillow, pick a house, and use the pictures and the description to build the house. Like build the front and back of the house and the yard as it in in the pictures, and try to figure out the floor plan using only the pictures and the description given
“Why do you watch? I don’t know what I’m doing!” Well, that’s why we watch.
I always look at vanilla builds and think “This could be so much nicer if custom content was used”

There’s a secret to figuring out scale and it’s much easier now that we can freely place doors and windows to match layouts too. The secret to getting the scale right is to locate a single door or window on the floor plan and think of that size as equal to one tile in the sims. By that calculation we can see that there should be two tiles in front of the stairs on the bottom floor with a window on a half tile between them.
these floorplan videos are my favorite!
I usually turn a garage into a home gym or music room
love how she said real ppl as if simmers aren’t real
no one:
kayla: I HATE THIS GAME!
kayla *2 seconds later* : I quite like this house
I was just thinking to myself, why didn’t she just put the garage down a platform at the start? I personally don’t meddle with platforms a lot so I don’t know if that would work, but couldn’t she have just, put everything on a foundation, then done the garage *inside* one down (or whatever) on a platform and then it would have been ground level and would have been perfectly fine?
For some reason floor plans come easy to me and it's actually my favorite part of building
Are we posting the legacy challenge on Wednesday now?
Ik
Pls no
That’s what makes my Monday
No… she makes my Monday livable 🥲. Hopefully it’s just a one of thing 😅
I hope this is a two time thing!!!!! It gets me through a Monday!!!!☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
to make ramps up to your garages you could use a roof piece instead of terrain tools :)
"It's fine, everything is fine"
SIMS, Kayla 2021-2020-2019-2018-2017...
you should do a build where you can use any pack- except for base game. I don’t think it’d be that hard but it’d be interesting see, especially to those of us with many packs but not sure how to use them all!
