About The Boys: THE BOYS is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and their formidable Vought backing.

The young Stan Edgar is such great casting; he nails the voice, the cadence and the mannerisms so perfectly

For real lol

Very similar to captain America and Superman in the DCEU & MCU. Cap was initially just a glorified celebrity who was just a propaganda tool. Superman Is viewed as a god by man and is also feared by many. The characters are very similar except their circumstances are flipped. Soldier boy abused & was Taken out by his team , and was handed over to the Reds. Cap was loyal to his team and even went through the lengths of breaking the rules to save them. In the end he gave his life in the war against the defected nazi organization hydra.

You can tell how uncomfortable and awkward Soldier Boy gets in 4:05 - 4:13 Him and Homelander have their moments where you can see their humorous unbreakable strongman facade break it’s amazing to watch
Eh. That’s just the case with Homelander. Soldier Boy was actually kinda wholesome.

I still think there’s going to be a reveal that Noir was Stan Edgar’s brother. Maybe Stan grew up with a chip on his shoulder that his little brother got super powers so he started working for the company that controls supes. And maybe that’s why Noir remains in The Seven, despite the fact that he’s now mute and too disfigured to even take off the mask. When you think about when this scene takes place, both of them would’ve been born during the Civil Rights Movement, which logically would’ve been when Vought started giving Compound V to black babies. Maybe Stan was too old, but his little brother just made the cut.
The biggest “we’re not doing anything from the comics” stunt of all time. I love it.

I think on thing people don’t realise is Soldier Boys facial flinches while he’s talking to Grace. The writers kinda made foreshadowing that he is Homelander’s father because when they get upset or pissed they twitch in their faces
Hereditary lol
But nah I actually caught that when I saw this video, after "nobody likes you" I thought: "holy shit they really foreshadowed that!"
I cannot get over how well he portrayed a young edgar, or really a young Giancarlo. Everything was Spot on Edgar! That is acting if ever I’ve seen it
AMC should hire him if they ever want to make a Gus fring backstory too
I'm more impressed how he nailed not Stan's but Giancarlo's mannerism and way of speaking

The casting for the younger versions of Stan and Grace were phenomenal.
You know what's hilarious? How well Soldier Boy adapted to modern life after being released. After hearing his backstory and insecurities from how his father treated him, it's very clear he was acting as toxically masculine as humanly possible to feel like anything but how he did. He's still got issues and work to do, but I could have a drink with post-modern Soldier Boy (just not vodka). Seems like all he really needed was a true friend to empathize with a broaden his perspectives.
yeah his father wasn't kind he got mental abused so yeah he needed a pals and unfortunately thats the time period of that era remember he was born 1918 basically not far from the 19th century hes a man stuck in the future and his manners still are but yeah if his team didn't stab him in the back he wouldve learned better and hope hes in the next season and hope jensen is not busy with this schedule
Yeah surprisingly he didn't even lash out violently when saw the gay couple, just looked at them weirdly and just shocked.
masculinity cant be toxic
How is it toxic?
Yeah I mean it’s not like he beat the shit out of his teenage sidekick, or sabotaged his colleague’s career, or constantly slept with other women which visually upset his wife. Clearly SB is a well adjusted person with some issues that can be helped. The fact his team betrayed him for absolutely nothing is also a good indicator!
