    What if a car has an alarm that goes off with movement/tilting etc.?

    • @DerrickJolicoeur
      @DerrickJolicoeur 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I think that's why everything seems so gentle. I'm sure the system uses audio detection to determine if a vehicle alarm starts -- Not sure what it'lldo about your annoying car though.

    • @MrMouse151
      @MrMouse151 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Derrick Jolicoeur Still, some cars would easily go off from that i reckon...

    • @jonnda
      @jonnda 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      M0U53Y ...Than the car alarm just goes off. The robot valet won't care or hear it, and neither will the car's owner.

    • @MrMouse151
      @MrMouse151 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      jonnda And if it's linked to the police...?

    • @jonnda
      @jonnda 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      M0U53Y The police will probably just ignore it and complain to the owner that they were dumb enough to leave the car at the sealed robotic lot without disabling the alarm. Also parking garages have notoriously bad cell reception.

    We get it, other countries have had somewhat similar systems for some time now, this is "new" because it's more advanced using robotics and it's being used in the US, a place where even today it's not really necessary. The big difference can essentially be summed up as, in Asia or India these types of decks are built out of necessity, in the US they're built to help create density.

    Lost me at 10 minutes to get your car back. It is amazing, but still needs work. Like +Antti Moillanen said, what if multiple people want their car, you would have to wait for 30 minutes. Technology is not about how difficult something is to be made, it is about how simple and practical something is regardless of how difficult it is to pull it off

  • @792247
    @792247 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    won't autonomous driving do this already without the need of complicated robots? Tesla already has a "find parking mode" where you get off at the destination, then the car drives itself around looking for parking (while reading parking signs), and parks itself. Then you can summon it from your phone, and it will find you via GPS.

    ASRS for cars. Seems like the line the small robots follow the yellow painted line...so if a car is leaking fluid and covers the lines or even cover the cameras on the robot that followings the line, then there will be a problem.

      sranjesuper same thing basically happens with non-robotic parking at a mall, pay parking lots, or other venue. You drive around looking for a spot for an hour, and/or wait in line for a spot. I don't get your point.

    So OLD, I've seen these (unused) also in parkings of Chinese shopping malls. There is a BIG practical problem with this system. When you park your car in a shopping mall for shopping you can visit your car several times to dump purchased items in your car so you don't need to carry them around. In this system that's probably not possible?

      Put a hold harmless clause in the terms of use for the parking garage - such that it would not hold harmless for equipment negligence. There are probably other technicalities - but I'm not a lawyer.

    • @DanielSadjadian
      @DanielSadjadian 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but there are only so many spaces that allow you to get in/out of your car. So there will surely be a queue of people waiting for their cars to come down the lift?

    • @geligapictures
      @geligapictures 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** have multiple lifts. Easy.

    • @DanielSadjadian
      @DanielSadjadian 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** But how many can you really have? If you have like 50 (or more) then that defeats the point of this parking building taking up a smaller footprint. Secondly imagine if its the 23rd December. Lots of people will be out doing Christmas shopping, suddenly there are like 100 people wanting to get to their cars. Some of them are going to have to wait and if its 10 mins per car, then its going to take ages?

    • @geligapictures
      @geligapictures 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ***** i actually wanted to troll you, but u seems like taking my answers seriously. Ok. Here let me tell you. We are living in capitalist world right?
      1. You want priority? Pay more
      2. Fast parking and collection? Pay more
      3. Have multiple cars delivered to you and your scandal at the same time? Pay for more
      4. Anything you want to hijack the system? Pay for more
      P/s: the biggest mall in my country has two or three exit for parking area. 50 shoppers still have to line up their cars and touch their parking card at the exit gate.

      Yea, but making twice as much cement and using twice as much trucks to carry cement and workers to build the damn thing will use a shit-ton of energy. Not to mention it's running on solar power and I doubt it's using all of it. Above all of that, it increases the value of buildings in the area compared to a normal car park.
