      Yeah, sounds like Akai are going to put a lot of resources into updating the Force and the MPCs if you listen to Andy Mac talk about it. I wish there was more compatibility between the MPC and the Force. There is for sure room for the force to grow.

    Stop bricking your volumes guys. It’s called gain staging and don’t plug in the devices audio while it’s powered up, plug it in before you power up.

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha. I knew someone was going to say something about that. I considered editing it out, but it was part of the process so I left it in. I did it in my MPC LIVE setup video too. Generally once you have everything connected you don't have to worry about it so much, everything will be plugged in already, and you can just turn on your Akai Force, then, your mixer (if you have one) then your speakers and get to jamming.

    Hi Matthew,
    I'd really like to know how external midi keyboards can control the internal sounds of the Force, especially wrt midi multitimbral - Live/X only route midi to _currently_ selected track.
    Page 57 of Force manual suggests that specific channels can be 'locked' into Plugin tracks. Ie external device sending on ch3 always plays Plugin regardless of what is selected on Force UI.
    I guess that this might be different for the USB Midi in vs. 5pin Midi in (with adapter).
    Cheers,
    Simon

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can look into it. You can select the midi channel for a plugin on the mpc live too. But is it a receive channel or send channel? I think receive, but can it be locked so when you move tracks you can still play the plug in you want. I can test it in the near future.

    Hey Matthew, Awesome video. Question so my husband just started setting his up today. 1st problem is the cables going from the Force to his Mackie speakers didn't come with the machine are you able to tell me which cable he needs so that we can check off SOUND? We need the twin cable but im not sure if its the XLR? would appreciate your help Oh and also for some reason we cant get it to pair to any of our devices using the Blutooth feature is there a quick quide on what we need to do to get that to work?

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello. It depends on which speakers you have. Most have a balanced 1/4" jack. The inputs of the speakers will look like the outputs of the Force. The outputs on the Force are balanced 1/4". These are the cables I use: amzn.to/3eYykHJ . The bluetooth connection on the Force is for keyboards. It doesn't work for speakers yet as far as I am aware.

    Matthew ! You've been extremely helpful man... thanks so much for all these dope tutorials ! I'm stuck on something and not able to figure it out ! So when you create an audio clip and try to record something on your mic... it'll only let you record when that track is armed you hit the record button BUT it won't let you create a clip and change the clip from 2 bars to 4 bars or 6 bars or say if I wanted to create an 8 bar clip of me rapping... when I create a clip inside the audio track and I change that clip to 8 bars and I hit the record button, IT DOES NOT RECORD ! This is driving me crazy and I cannot figure it out... :( :( :( The only way I can record is if I hit record and it only lets me record a 2 bar loop ! Please help me out here ! -Elie

    • @jason3534
      @jason3534 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't have a clip premade to record audio into. You can set a record length of the clip press shift then rec to change length.

      @@MatthewStratton that would be awesome or even if the MPC can do than the MPD will as well

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the MPD pads with the force if you connect with the usb cable. Not sure how to sync the mdi clock to get the note repeat in sync though. You can play the 16 MPC Pads from the Live too in midi control mode. Just a note though you have assign all the midi pads (notes) on the controller to map the akai midi drum map.

      FAAJR1 yes, use the ableton link w WiFi - make sure the apps your using support ableton link.and make sure both devices are on the same WiFi network. Also, ableton link will make whatever gets turned on first the master- so if you want the force to be the master, start the iOS apps after force, of you want the iOS apps to be the master, start the link from force AFTER you start the iOS app

      You don't need headphones for sound to come out. You can use the outputs for sound. Do you have the outputs connected to powered speakers? Are they connected to output 1 and 2. By default the Force uses output 1 and 2 as stereo output.
