    Thanks for the info Dale! I think I'm going to install something similar on my motorcycle for some upcoming trips

    I’m so glad I finally found a video using the bike I’ve been thinking of buying! I’m really interested in getting a Vulcan 1700 but the downside was not having an updated display… started looking at CarPlay devices and here I am haha. Are you still enjoying it?

      I still love my Vulcan Vaquero - going on 10 years now and still a great ride

    I use a dedicated rugged android phone tether to my primary phone hotspot. These rugged phone battery will last a long time so no wiring required to the bike. Just get a good mount to fix it to the bike. I only charge the phone at the end of day and it will last for another day ride.
    Since it is a phone, it is then very versatile in what the apps you can install in it. So far this is the cheapest and most easily use and transfer between bike.
    I plan my route with google doc with link to either waze or google map, the google doc can be easily share to the dedicated phone and edit on the fly if needed from any device.
    With a rugged phone you don’t need a special vibration mount.
    My advise is, never ever use your daily or primary phone for navigation on a bike, just buy a cheap rugged phone and all your problem will be solved.

    Quadlock solves any phone vibration issues

      Thanks - good information - how do you protect the phone from weather while on quadlock?

    Damn, just got ours in today and the AD in Amazon mislead us to believe it was a GPS unit itself. Boxing it up for return tomorrow. Guess our trip from Louisiana to Massachusetts next week will be by grease pencil instructions on our windshields. Wish I watched this sooner....

      Sorry it didn’t work out - yes the device is really just a display for Android or Apple CarPlay - it needs the phone for the GPS brains

      @@4WardJourney Brought it to UPS about two hours ago. It did look like a nice hub for everything though....

    Have you thought about mounting it right in the center of your bars? That’s where I was thinking I’d mount mine if it would work.

    • @4WardJourney
      @4WardJourney  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, mounting it in the center of the bars could work well. My radio controls are behind the center so for me, it works better up to the right.

      @@4WardJourney can you play music from the CarPlay device to the motorcycle speaker system?

    • @4WardJourney
      @4WardJourney  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @rayray3866 I don’t think so - I gave the iPod adapter from Kawasaki and I use an old iPod for music on the bike

  • @edbigtruck

    Do you still need to link it to the bike or does it have its own speaker to hear

    • @4WardJourney
      @4WardJourney  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching - I haven’t worried about sound so far - I just use the visual - but I do believe it has audio out - and if you bike has blue tooth - your phone can connect to the audio that way

    Great video!
    Does your device turn off when you make a quick stop at a toll or traffic light after some hours of continuous use?

    • @4WardJourney
      @4WardJourney  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching! No I’ve haven’t experienced that specifically- I have had a problem where the 12 volt adapter I had in the accessory plug (cigarette lighter adapter) was flakey and it would reboot the device - but a new 12 volt adapter solved it.

    • @bma.bianca
      @bma.bianca 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @4WardJourney Do you have it connected directly to 12V? Because I connected it to the motorcycles usb outlet, which is 5v. And together with the device comes the cable to connect directly to the battery and a converter from 12v-24v to 5v.

    Ordered the same thing down loaded it to my phone but when I try to down load to my hearing Aids or ear buds only get music coming from carplay and not to ear buds . Can you tell me what the prob is or how to fix . thanks

    • @4WardJourney
      @4WardJourney  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching - I i’m not sure about the configuration you’re running as I don’t have earbuds that I’m using with my set up I would suggest trying to pair the earbuds directly to the phone and not the CarPlay device

    Hi i have a same device and around 5000 rpm from the bike vibration its reboot all the time, any idea how can i fix this? Thanks

    • @4WardJourney
      @4WardJourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi - I found that I had to change out the USB adapter I had in my accessory socket. With vibrations that USB adapter was loosing connection so the device was rebooting. If you are finding that is still a problem - I'd recommend wiring it directly to the battery with the cable they provided. Hope that helps!

    • @kiskiss4685

      @@4WardJourney Hi, thank you! I did wiring directly to the battery in first place the vibration problem on the device itself. The bike is a Triumph tiger gt pro and on 5000rpm do this problem
