    Great video Matt! Excellent job explaining the coil. I really like the "top" analogy as well. Makes it easy as a Coach to explain to my players. Keep up the great videos both on Baseball and Softball!

    Hey Matt love your videos they have helped me get a lot more power. But now recently because of my increased power I hit a baseball of the tee through my net and through my neighbors window a couple hundred feet away, cost me but worth it in dingers!!!!

    Thinking of a top.. One of the better explanations I’ve seen on the hip coil.

    Excellent tip ! you definitely lose a lot of power when you uncoil too soon.

    Id like to know how many of these kids are working with computers nowadays. 😂
    Hey dads, your son is never going to make the major leagues. It’s a one out of 300,000 probability.
    Unless he was born in the Dominican republic or eats sleeps, shits, and drinks baseball stop voicing your time and money either they have it or they don’t.

    The top analogy is clever. I used it to help my 9 year old son make the connection. Had him think of his body as if it were a top and create the load tension to jump into the air in a 360 fashion. Brilliant. Good for golf swing instruction too.

  • @amberdavis5311
    @amberdavis5311 ปีที่แล้ว

    What is the simplest way to tell kids this? Like in a TH-cam short. The load, hold, land-explode

    Matt, this is exactly what my 10U son is having difficulty with ! simple instructions by yourself, using the back pocket to come forward, also the belt buckle. That will help my 10 year old understand what his right leg needs to do at bat. Thank you ! Hope to have a super chat soon man !

    Seriously the best tool for kids.
    Whiffle ball bat with whiffle balls or the whiffle golf balls that move a lot too.
    That’s the next step.

    Great job and you look smooth while showing the drill. It's amazing on how much speed you gain when coiling, stride and suddenly block your front leg. All this energy goes to the upper and there goes the absolute bomb.

    I watched this twice and heard Matt say in another video but wanted to ask to be crystal clear…he is saying to show the back pocket to the pitcher but is he meaning the pocket closest to the catcher?

    This is a very important technique that very few teach. There was an old Yankees hitting coach named Charlie Lau in the 1970's who would teach this. His big thing was that you needed to land with your front foot parallel to hold the load. I know that most guys teach front foot lands with a 45. I know that I gave you a hard time about some things but your baseball skills are very good.

    What about a guy like Stanton -- could someone not as strong as him hit with that style? He seems front loaded - almost like hitting downhill.

    • @syidewayz
      @syidewayz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      How is he front loaded? He clearly loads into his back leg when he toe taps. some times he even double taps to keep it loaded just like bonds did

  • @jsal67

    Such good info again Matt!!! Been working on that coil a lot during the QT. Staying in that deep coil is the trickiest part. It's tough not to lunge onto that front foot to early
