Jeep Gladiator Pod Light Upgrade and Fixing My JK Hemi Issue..

  • I have quite a few Jeep Gladiator Upgrades to show you guys! But first we have to fix the Jeep Wrangler and figure out why it wont start..
Luckily, it was an easy fix. Sometimes used parts can help out a bunch during DIY swaps in order to bring costs down, and other times it just adds to the expense!
In this video, we take a look at a new LED Pod light kit that is designed for the JL Wrangler and JT platform.
    offroadconcept...
ORC (Offroad Concepts) reached out to me to test out their new Apex light system. I was originally just going to install them and give feedback, but i figured you guys would like to see as well.
The kit is very well designed, with a ton of quality work and thought put behind it.
Its not a budget Lighting kit by any means, as the price is up there with many of the other top name brands. I do think it is an amazing kit, very well suited for the JL and JT, leaving the buyer with an extremely clean and professional lighting upgrade that can be done at home. The wiring harness is very well built, and there is no "Extra" wire that needs to be hidden, extended, or wrapped up. The ORC switch is another thing i liked, and having the option to incorporate the Mopar Aux switches is pretty cool as well. I know this kit will not appeal to everyone, however i do think there are quite a few who will see the craftsmanship and enjoy these kinds of upgrades.
What do you look for in your Offroad Lighting upgrades? Let me know in the comments, as well as what your opinion of the kit is.
Im excited to get back in the garage and show you guys whats next, we will be taking a look at some Major steering upgrades that will bring the Jeep to the next level! And hopefully some Offroad trips not too far behind!
    Thanks for watching!

    Hi Ben,
I wanted to share something that might help our fellow gladiator owners with wandering steering.
I wrote to you awhile back. I bought a 2020 Gladiator Mojave. I went to the dealership and approached them about the service bulletin that covers the steering box. They began by giving me the run around saying that my jeep drives like a jeep.
Well, I am a Customer support manager for a fleet of 5000+ helicopters. So I took a page from my customer's playbook and called BS and was very insistent that my family's safety given the wandering nature of the steering on the Mojave was not up for grabs.
Cut to the chase, they replaced my steering box and WOW! what a difference. The black cast iron upgraded replacement steering box with the long steel bolts made a night and day difference on the steering performance on my jeep. I saw your video with the bracket to stiffen up the mounting as well as the damper you installed. I feel that the steering box swap is the biggest change that one can make and it is at no cost if you insist on getting it fixed under warranty at the dealership.
By the way...we just got back from a family vacation trip from DFW in Texas to Moab UT, Park Springs UT, and Durango CO. My jeep was all over the road in the mountains...wandering with a 1-2 inch dead spot in the steering response. After the steering box swap...while it is still a Jeep, it is no longer scary at highway speeds and on mountain passes. What a huge improvement. I strongly recommend this upgrade...it is free to those who still have an active warranty.
    Nuff said.
I hope this will be useful for you and our fellow jeep enthusiasts.
    All the best,
    Gary Redfield

They look nice, but I bought a pair of por lights at Tractor Supply for $50 that have been working great for over 2 years and they are plenty bright. Nice lights and great job showing them, but I'll keep the other $650+ to put toward other parts.

Hey Ben. Man sorry to hear about the starter. Atleast it was an easy fix. Very interested in your take on the Apex kit. Just ordered one for my Gladiator. I have a buddy who is a service manager at my local jeep dealership. I'm going to have my steering box changed so I can get the metal one but he is going to give it to me when it comes in so I can send it to West Texas Offroad to have it drilled and tapped for Hydro assist before they install it. Then l'll install the Apex kit and hydro assist. Will be great for my 37s but planning on going to 40s after my JKU Hemi and 1 ton swaps are done.

If ORC can make RED pod lights that you can mount as a rear or side overhead light for working/cooking by your vehicle at night I will buy them. No one makes red pod lights when they are the superior light because they don't attract bugs and help you keep your night vision for astronomy/photography/etc. The market is there for the taking!

On our jt are a set of BD LP6's on the bumper and BD LP4's with KC's on the cowel, and a single row 24in. In the grill guard bar on the bumper.

Sadly there are no V6 swaps that would be of a benefit without the same cost as a v8 swap. Honestly a 5.7 DIY swap would be a good idea in the future, or a supercharger on the 3.8 if you have fairly low miles and it’s in good condition.

Great video! I'll stick with Baja Designs LP6's, but those look pretty nice. Not a fan of the lense type on the Pod Lights, though. They have a haze or ring around them caused by that magnifying lense. Plus, the lense looks like the same thing the cheapest Chinese LED flashlights use. They need to work on their LED system to match up with their quality wiring and hardware. Baja Designs remains in a league of their own. Catch can: Not necessary. You would not pour all that into your combustion chamber. Nobody would. But it doesn't go in there that way. It goes in barely a drip at a time and burns off harmlessly. Nobody has proven any real benefit of a catch can, to me. Does it hurt? Nope. But it DOES do a good job of catching some of the money coming out of your wallet. It also gives you one more maintenance item to bother with, as well. No thanks.

I will admit they LOOK good, but that price is scary... The performance and ease of install are great, but I don't feel that $700+ is worth it at all.
I am currently running 'cheap' no name LED spot lights on my TJ that were around around $100. They don't look as nice, aren't as bright, and may not last as long as the ones tested here, but I just personally cannot find myself spending $700 on a set of lights like those for the amount I use mine. That said, the amount of usable light is a question too - at what point is it 'too bright' and overkill? What I am trying to say is that there has to be a point of diminishing returns on light output.
