Love this channel the more I watch it. It’s become my go to for knowledge in making my tackle purchases this year. I feel a sense of warmth and hospitality every time I tune in. What I wouldn’t give to spend a day out on the water with this man
I did not realize as to how much information that I have learned from your channel. I was talking to a coworker about fishing who lives in Alabama a couple of days ago and he was saying it was "too cold" to go fishing. I was able to provide him with some tips and tricks that I have learned from you Randy! Not sure if he going to try what I mentioned but your content that I have listened to has really paid off, at least for me it has! Thank you for everything that you have provided to us!!
Good video! This info is extremely helpful on Highland reservoirs. Light penetration is very critical on Highland reservoirs but all of this still holds true on other lake/rivers. This is the type of stuff your not gonna learn from the cookie cutter channels no matter how good their drone footage or editing seems. .
Excellent, Randy. I've got a gin-clear, deep lake, with a lot of grass, here by my house in FL, which is like finding a 3-headed unicorn (most FL lakes are dangerously shallow and have zero visibility. You can't tell if you're in 20ft of water or 6")...but, I digress. I've been trying to figure out what soft plastics to throw. So, far white spinner baits, chrome or Gold, colored rattle traps, or translucent crank baits, have produced the best. But, jigs, and soft plastics produce very little. Trying to get confident with a jig, and it seems like the harder I try the less luck I have!
Try pumpkin pepper in 1/4 once with a matching trailer. Probably won't need a trailer with a lot of action, but you may want to try an ultra vibe speed craw in the same color. Green pumpkin might work as well. Junebug works anywhere in Florida. May I ask what part of the state this unicorn is in ? I'm near Tampa.
@@billdavenport6203 Thanks Bill! Funny you should say that…. I just put a Dirty Jigs Green Pumpkin (pitching), with a zoom Pro chunk (with the longer tails). So, it sounds like I’m headed in the right direction. I’ll also tie on a chad color, since that’s worked with the other baits. As far as the lake goes, absolutely….I’m literally 5min from Lake Conway, here in South Orlando. I usually fish Little Lake Conway (there’s two). But, both lakes are beautiful, deep and extremely clear. Nothing huge in it (that I’ve caught, anyway) but I always catch my “limit” so-to-speak, when I go out (I’m catch and release these days). Let me know if you’re ever in my neck of the woods (S. Orlando, just off Orange Ave), and I’d be happy to take you out. I just wish we’d get past all this cold weather! 👍
@phillamoore157 I often work over there for a couple of weeks at a time , so I will surely take you up on that offer. That being said, try pumpkin pepper (no green). I'm assuming the grass is hydrilla? The crawfish in hydrilla are often very bleached out and a light tan in color. You can sometimes see them on the edges of hydrilla holes. The other tip, if you want confidence in jigs and plastics, is to leave everything else at home. Focus on the areas where different vegetation mixes , this is often due to a change in depth or bottom material. If and when you do get bit , slow down and fish that area throughly. You can flip a couple of hundred yards without a bite and then pull several out or a spot the size of a breakfast table . I'm also catch and release only, but I'm not against someone keeping smaller fish.I just hate to see the genetically superior fish killed for a meal, mount,or bragging rights. Picture and replica is all that is needed. The warm weather is on its way.
