Since the bass mafia is a line thru - it lasts longer. Ive used one for an entire weekend in Florida. Several 3-5 lbs … and many 1 & 2 pounders. And I found the hook up/land ratio better w/ the single hook over the treble due to the line thru. It easy to pop back into place & works great. I also use it for snook fishing & is awesome.
@@jeremytjensvold9936Being bigger and looks to be tougher plastic and more solid body, I thought it looked more solid will translates to lasting longer usually.
Great video. Try the Magdraft, or any of these swimbaits for that matter, on a snap or a split ring. You will get a little better action and will be able to fish them even slower. That extra hinge point adds a good amount of action to the body of the swimbait. I also don't trust most of the tie on points of these baits to hold up under a lot of tension because of how narrow they are and the chance for line dig. So that snap or split ring gives me a little bit more confidence when fighting or pulling fish out of cover.

Enjoying this video I'm always still learning different techniques and lures. Your comparison of swim baits is right on. Thanks for your insight and work.
This was a very helpful video. I have purchased a few 6 inch baits, but will certainly refer back to this video when I see future sales dropping. Thanks again
This is a fantastic idea for a video series, and the work you put into this is amazing. I never would have thought of the optimal speed range for thes lures. Imagine spending $50 bucks on the patterns that catch your attention, and then find out the lures don't perform well within the speed range you need to be at. This is very important of your trolling for walleye especially, but also for lake trout.
From now on I am going to super glue the magnets in the mag drafts before I use them. I had one to pull out in an 8” one. That wasn’t good when I have a small budget and wants to use some of these baits.
I fish the megabass Magdraft 6 inch and they do make an 8 inch as well. Also the magdraft has a magnet in its belly to hold the hook up against it and keep it outta the way
@@BassFishingHQ Check out the RAID Japan Osakana Swimmer Swimbait. It slowly drops to the bottom when you kill it. It's perfect for staging bass, spawning beds, and FFS applications. I rig it with the treble hook at the top when I do this technique, but it works so well. The Daingerous swimbait and the RAID Japan Osakana Swimmer are my fav's at the moment.
@@europeanian4205 No, I prefer the weedless version. I'm in AZ and the grass really takes off here and I mainly fish from the bank. I like the Raid Japan Osakana Swimmer Swimbait rigged with a top hook because it falls to the bottom when you kill it. It's better for bass holding to structure, spawning on beds, and if you're on a boat targeting specific fish with FFS. So, for me I prefer the Daingerous Unrigged Swimbait for most situations, but the Osakana Swimmer Swimbait is slightly better in the aforementioned scenarios.
I'm a brand new swimbait angler this video will definitely help me use swimbaits I have the gray flake shad from Yum Pulse swim shad and I have 7 inch glider bait from Bassdash which will help me out big time and how to use these type of baits. Thank you for this video
The magdraft had been a smallmouth killer for me, but blew out too easily when fishing through high speed current in the river. The OG Daingerous swimbait fishes the current better as you can crank it against the current without blowing out so easily. Plus, when casting with the current, you don’t have to reel it as fast to get it wagging!
As a European fishing winter pike mostly with swimbaits it's interesting to see a bunch of models I have never seen in a shop on this side of the pond. Bit pricier than what I'm used to, but also a lot more pre-rigging on your side.
Most swimbait vets I’ve talked to all agree that a 7:1 lure is perfect alternating a slow and fast retrieve and jerking it sometimes! Gotta jerk it man!💪 I have Bass Pro shops branded lures that are absolute crap! Cheap feathers…terrible designs, hooks that aren’t that sharp, paint that comes off just from being in Storage etc. I’m not surprised that one of the lures didn’t even work!🤣🤣. Great video. That Video was Awesome. Well done. Loved the on-the-water shots and slow motion recaps. Just watched you catch ‘em on the 8” Megabass Magdraft and wanted to know more. Kinda hurts knowing these baits will not last however! Be well.
I'm trying that Megadraft now, but Yamoto stopped making a swimbait that I knocked the bass's lights out with often. I'm still pissed. It was the HEARTTAIL by Gary Yamoto - olive and blue herring colors were outstanding.
I have caught some pretty good striper on the XPS swim bait, it is one of my absolute favorites. I still have some of the original ones in my box. I noticed they’re now being called the come back swim bait lol.
I fish a 6” Magdraft and I prefer the Freestyle with a Beast Hook or Flashy Swimmer. It seems to keel the bait better as well as being weedless. I’m going to try the line-through bait next
Man this was so helpful. It looks from several reviews that the Berkley just doesn't swim straight. That bums me out because I love the price and they're available at my local wally world. I wonder if the 8" would swim better? I've tried the smaller devil swimmer and had trouble keeping it down in the water column. Guess I need to try some nail weights next time.
you absolutely have to add weight to the cull shad (tungsten nail weights as far down in the belly as possible). It then swims more normal. Have caught fish on this bait, but not my favorite thing that you have to tweak a swimbait first for it to even work.
@tylerbergerfishing what are you thoughts on bending out a hook on the treble and pushing it into the plastic on the XPS? Basically making it sit on the belly like the magdraft.
You could do that but I wouldn’t suggest bending the treble out. I lost a couple fish that actually hit the bait after skipping it under a dock and they got hooked with that prong of the treble
I bet if you take the fin off the top of the paddle tail of the devil one, that it would be able to run even slower, and the wobble and kick would increase. Fins like that create drag that slows the kick of the tail. Making the kick of the tail tighter.
The hangover is a BANGER bait. Medium sink is the wave! Caught a 5.4 Arizona pond bass on it, 4.83 and a ton more. The big presence and drawing power is elite. This bait is all about dialing in the right straight retrieve🔥
i literally just got done fishing with the loaded zaldangerous, and i do like it, but i did lose a 4lb and 5ish. maybe the treble version will have a better hook up
The bassmafia Knockoff mag is a really good bait, Cant speak for the line through. As for the Hangover, don't understand a top hook that can be bottom bounced with a slow crawl. Great Video!!
The Berkey cullshad kicks like crazy and I've been killing it at my lake with them. It also pulled through grass pretty easy and nice top water action. The megabass flops over too much for me
Idk man. That dangerous swimbait has some serious MOJO right now. Wish I was fishing during the xps hayday but I'm interested to try the new iterations. I feel bad for zaldain though. He put in so much work on the dangerous and it came out at the same icast as the nessie and really got overlooked

I was using a 6” Magdraft . Caught a 3-1/2, 3 , then a 16 incher . As the last came up and jumped close to boat I saw a small silver disc (magnet)fly out. When I got it in the magdraft was completely destroyed. Harness was ripped completely out. Third fish naught. $16 bucks down the drain. No more!
US is a great market for making money. Those lure are quite expensive for a piece of plastic. Here in Europe anglers seem to be less prone to marketing.
