Remember my dad buying a new 65 Catalina 2+2. Most beautiful car I've ever seen!

      That definitely would have been!

If my memory serves me correctly. Those were absolutely gigantic. Or maybe cuz I was young when my neighbor had one.

I always thought it had a 421. I definitely remember a 4-speed. Dark blue with the eight lug wheels. I too thought it was a "land yacht "!!

You're right.. they were pretty big but really not that big when compared to some of the trucks and SUV's of today.

I Had A 65 2+2 Rag Top, The 421 Engine Was A Brut. What A Joy To Drive. Great Cars, Wish They Still Made Cars Like That. Enjoy Your Memories

I had a '64 Grand Prix in High School I loved that car but absolutely despised the roto Hydramatic trans! Plus it ate gas like a 747 but this was back in 1970! Do I wish I still had it? Definitely!

At least gas was a lot cheaper in those days.. lol
Can you imagine rolling down the road in that car today??!?

I took the roto, threw it in the trash and adapter kitted THM 350C

I had a 63 black red interior base 389 4 speed, factory tach on the left with vacuum gauge and 8 lug wheels I jacked the rear springs and put on thrush mufflers dumping under the car. It sure was a great car. I’m talking 1968 and 1969 in high school.

Nice! Those thrush mufflers were quite popular back then. My dad had a Firebird with those on it.

My neighbor had a 1964 GP and it was packing a huge 421 with tripower

I love hearing from people who owned these cars or who had neighbours that owned them. Looking back, there were so many beautiful cars that came out of Detroit. I can see why people become collectors and why others put them on custom chassis, with modern suspension and disc brakes, so the drive like modern cars

I totally agree with you! I’m really enjoying hearing from everyone on my channel and I’m going to start using the community tabl more, because I really like these 2 way conversations. My love for these old cars is why I still regularly attend car shows in the summer months. I’m looking forward to recording more video for every one who views my channel, of these car shows. To me cars even up until the 2000s had so much more style than these cross overs that are everywhere today.

The '64 Grand Prix is one of the most beautiful cars that GM has ever made.

Those Grand Prix s were stylish cars '63 - '64 , but they probably used premium fuel . You don't see GrandPrixs or Olds Starfire's on the road anymore unless your attending a car show . Even so , there seldom seen . Happy Motoring 14:55

You're right. I think they get overshadowed by some of the other cars of the era and Pontiacs were always a bit more expensive than the Chevy's.
