    I'm so proud of my ancestors and I'm so happy to see that people are getting a taste of what they were like but i would be happier for people to see just how far they travelled and settled long before the rest of Europe. What a fantastic people to be descended from.

    Related history from my birth region:
    Jutland (Germanic name) = Cimbria (Classical name)
    Jutland/Cimbria (29k km2) is a peninsula about the size of Brittany/Bretagne (31k km2) or Massachusetts (27k km2) and yet the connection between my ancestors are never mentioned.
    900ad Vikings (Meaning adventurers/raiders) from Jutland/Denmark
    400ad Jute and Anglian immigration from Jutland/Denmark
    100bc Cimbrian and Teutonen immigration (Beat the Romans in multiple battles 112 - 106bc) from Jutland/Denmark.
    Jutes/Anglians/Saxons/Langobards/Suebi/goths were interconnected Northern Germanic tribes. After the Roman Empire fell 5th/6th centuries Jutes/Anglians/Saxons settled in Brittania - Langobards (Lombards) settled in Northern/Central Italy, Austria and Western Balkans together with other Germanic tribes (Suebi and Goths ao.) Suebi and Goths further settled in Southern France, Spain, Portugal, Northern Africa.
    The point I'm making in the last section is immigration from Northern Germanic tribes happened all over the former Western Roman Empire - not just to the British Isles during the socalled dark ages. Romans writing down most of the history subsequently being admired for their acheivements still ended up with "the short end of the stick" after 1/2 millenia of battles against the Germanic tribes.
    Lesson learned from this and so many other historic events : Greed and moral decline inevitably become the downfall of Nations and Empires alike. Just as relevant today as ever.

    Ibn Fadlan described a funeral of the Rus, 2-3 generations AFTER they left Sweden. So we don't know if it is a Slavic funeral, or a mixture of Slavic and Scandinavian. People that talk about history REALLY need to point out those details....

  • @DonV-95
    @DonV-95 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Almost 30 minutes in, I was really fascinated and then immediately really frustrated. First by the fact that they call Fenrir a "god"... he was related to the gods, yes, but was not revered as a God by Scandinavian peoples. Considering that his father Loki, Blood Brother of Odin, is half God and half giant, and Fenrir's mother Angrebotha was a giantess, it's far more accurate to say that fenrir was a giant, or Joton.
    Then to call Thor Odin's brother, when he is in fact his son. And to follow that up by claiming that Thor was present at creation and killed Ymir when that is also not true is astounding.
    Sorry if this sounds nitpicky but to present yourself as a "history documentary" and then get such simple things so wrong, makes one wonder what else you got wrong calls in to question the accuracy of literally everything else you said, as well as the credibility of anyone involved with this production.

    The narratives of Vikings was wrong, the Jylland people the Juts were there before the Romans. The Vikings who are Jutlandisk are just liberating their sister country of Jysks Juts that settled in these islands UK way before Anglos and Sax. Viking is a verb word not a people, the people are Jutland/Jylland Juts or Jysk... Jylland is in Denmark also Norway and Danes along with Swedes Gots are just doing Viking they are related culture all were just Viking meaning adventuring. Change the history books to reality, not some Roman narratives.
