    Really love the way the lone tree stands out against the background; top class.

    The British photographers are getting to be my favorites. There are a couple and they are so enthusiastic and excited to do the work they do.

    Love the long exposure B&W with the mountains in the background. Makes me want to try more B&W photos!

    • @RugbyLock2668
      @RugbyLock2668 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any chance you could let us know the settings for it? Also, how do you generally decide whether to do color or B&W? Thanks!!

    • @GaryGough
      @GaryGough  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Choosing colour or B&W is usually down to the light. If it's a contrasty light it generally works better in B&W. Landscapes during the middle of the day, for instance, are usually a good candidate for B&W. There is no science for it though. I just try them in both :)

    • @RugbyLock2668
      @RugbyLock2668 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GaryGough thanks! Do you just try it in lightroom or use profiles built in the camera? Like Fuji has an Arcos film simulation for BW in camera.

    Yes indeed Gary, you nailed it! This makes #20 whilst going in reverse order... Great tips on AEB too. That you are getting these captures in less than dramatic light is testament that it can be done with some patience. Many folks simply can't catch the " Magic Hours " for any number of reasons, so this type of shooting is [reality] for many, myself incl. about 50% of the time...
    I have completed my tripod upgrade, leveler & Arca Swiss mounting recently, i.e., ProMediaGear TR-424 Series, Acratech GP Ballhead, plates, etc., next up, hopefully in the spring, will be the Lee Foundation Holder & Filter System... Then a full frame body, more lenses & on & on it goes, NEVER ENDING!
    Thanks, really enjoyed the Isle of Skye shots...

      Scott J MacLucas-Paton - hi Scott, thanks for the sub. Kilt rock eluded us that week on 3 separate occasions. I’ll pm you when I’m in the studio. I just want to ask about that particular day and interested to know where the gems are. Cheers Scott

    • @GaryGough
      @GaryGough  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi again Scott. I can't find where to PM you? Quick question... When we turned up at Kilt Rock, it looked just like it was a training day. I found out afterwards that a man had jumped and committed suicide. That's really sad. My question is, according to the local news they found the body in the afternoon. We and you guys were there in the morning. I'm just trying to get my head around the fact Kilt Rock wasn't actually closed off to the public? I think that's what confused me. Totally understand if you can't divulge what actually happened. gary@garygough.co.uk

    A quick piece of constructive critique:
    A whole minute of introduction before the actual video content starts feels like an eternity to the viewer:) I suggest keeping it below 30 seconds. Very entertaining video. :)

    • @GaryGough
      @GaryGough  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      rontz - fair point. I added the "episode teasers" at the beginning to let the viewer know what's coming up. It seems a popular thing to do these days but I accept your point. Thanks for the feedback, it's always welcome
