    This is a pretty good, informative video. Comments about it not being spray transfer are absolutely comical. This guy is the president of an accredited welding school, gives everyone the set-up specifications, which all fall within the minimum needed for spray transfer, and then he shows you his beads which look high quality, but somehow he doesn't know what he is talking about? Come on man. Gotta love these internet rocket scientists who comment that this guy is wrong.

      I'm in his school right now. I see him often. He is the real deal. The man lays masterful beads.

      If you guys are really a welder, you would know that he is not on a spray mode here…hear that crackling sound?…it would be just a hissing sound and barely a crackle

      its not a "true" spray transfer but its still spray. Spray isnt just a humming/hissing noise. Its when you have a concenrated arc that is deep penetrati@@kabihog5789

    We ran .045 with 75/25 at about 28v wfs about 300-320 in flat position. Out of position would be about 26v & only 280 wfs. The gas mix is a big parameter that can change variables.

    I'm curious as to why so much crackling while using spray transfer? In my experiences, you tweak your settings until it sounds just like gas hissing, or a close to that sound as possible. What is the reasoning for so much noise in this video?

    Great school great teachers. Learned to mig weld here would like to return for tig at some point.

    this is definitely spray transfer, spray transfer had two types the bacon noise (what he is using) and the quieter hissing with no crackling(true spray transfer, difference is often the wire speed or the gas mix. i know this because it’s popular here in the UK and have used WPS like this before

    Had to weld several thousand feet of half inch plat on every floor of a new steel refinery plant. All plates where 8'×4' 35° bevel and 3/8 root. Me and my weld partner had two old suitcase Lincoln's they maxed out at 37.5 volts and 480 wfs and man those were fun days running through about 4 large spools everyday

    Not a spray.. maybe globular

    Good weld but that doesn't sound or look like spray transfer.

      It depends I think it can only go over an 8th or so if that's what you're talking about

    Y’all have definitely only welded spray before. If you had welded more processes, you’d know what the different processes sound like.

    Isn't it too much sparkles for spray transfer mode?

    • @davelynnes5849
      @davelynnes5849 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There probably is too many sparkles to be considered a true spray transfer. When taking this test I like to drop the volts so I have better control of the puddle in the horizontal position. Good observation!

    The test I'm about to take is different it's about 14 or 15 passes with two root passes 🥴

      Yes I’m the same. A 5/16” space with a 2 root pass, and then fill it in with like 10-12 passes 😅

      @Pistonhead Riders Part of the idea with spray is the fact that the arc has ALOT of penetration providing you got the volts set right so that its narrow.. space around the arc super heats the argon which allows the filler to wet into the sides etc.. the wirefeed speed is there for the amps and to fill in the weld fast enough so you dont get undercut etc. If you getting heat issues then you should use a watercooled torch with bit more stick out bud.. spray transfer is a hot process regardless of how many amps you run

    • @tenthplanet3342
      @tenthplanet3342 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can get spray to sound like this but its obviously not what spray should sound like, more of an intense humming/vibration sound is what I hear when a puddle is correctly pushed and the electrode doesn't fall back into the puddle

  • @mrjoecharles
    @mrjoecharles 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    not spray transfer at all. spray requires at least a 90% argon gas mixture. for spray with 045 wire, run around 29 or 30 volts at about 400 ipm, 315 amps, anything over 3/8 should never be welded with 035 or in short circuit transfer in my opinion

  • @zacharytuttle5618

    This is not spray transfer. It should not be crackling or making any spatter. He is not using the correct shielding gas. Do not do this.
