Very helpful video! I’m cleaning my machine for the first time now. I ordered the rubber cleaning disc off Amazon for $6.99 prime and the tablets in an 8 pack for $7.
I own an oracle touch, your video made my day just for the simple idea of hiding my baskets/rubber cleaning insert behind the drip tray. I’ve owned this machine for 4-5 years and never thought about that or saw it anywhere else and I swear I read the whole manual. It’s possible I missed it in the manual, but I thank you for showing that!

Last time I think I did it wrong I was confused about holding the buttons down and how long and I don’t think it cleaned properly. Mostly for the time savings and convienience - instead of going out to coffee shops every day, I can have a lovely lattes whenever I want! You will love it!

Video idea for Hoon: I'm considering getting that machine myself. Some people make the grinder stepless, pretty easy to do, then hold the knob with a clip. Easily reversible. I wonder if that'd make the built in grinder good and if the taste would be that much different from the niche.

Thanks! I was confused until I saw this video because my instruction manual said that water would flow from the portafilter spouts. So I was getting worried when this didn’t happen. Sounds like Breville needs to update their manual.
Still come back to here to clean machine or descale, I think it’s been 3 years now! I want to buy your coffee and follow along more as I try to make my own drinks again.

I think this is best affordable espresso machine out there. If you don't have coffee grinder at home.
Actually if you don’t want to play with machine every time you want tasty espresso, I would go for Nespresso mini machine. I always told myself that this is not a real way of doing coffee but once I tried and realized how simple and convenient it is, I got Nespresso myself.
I still use Barista but when I don’t want to spend 30+ minutes to make an espresso, I just pop one of the capsules to Nespresso machine and get an amazing tasting coffee within 30sec.

I saw this video about two years ago, and at that time the coffee machine came with some tablets. Now I have used up the bonus tablets and the Cafiza tablets on Amazon is $17. I regret I didn't buy them back then haha

Question. After about 5-6 mins of “clean me” following exactly how you do it, I did not hear three beeps, also blinking lights for ‘clean’ stays on. What could be wrong?
Hi Hoon. Thanks for your videos on the Barista Express they are very helpful. It has taken many attempts a lot of beans. I’m afraid you have turned me into a coffee snob. Lol. I keep coming back for cleaning and descaling. It’s probably wrong, I like a good Americana but strong. I use a double shot, instead of adding water I use the same grounds to fill my 20oz cup. I hope I’m not hurting the machine. Your directions give me a smooth cup of coffee every morning.

How often do I need to clean it with the tablets? Also, I am descaling every 6 months is that ok? I had a blinking light and did both on the same day. Want to know when I need to do tablets again next because water was really dirty, thank you!!

If you power on your machine, and the Hot Water/Steam light is flashing--so that you cannot make coffee, this has nothing to do with needing to clean your machine. It simply means somebody in your home has turned the HW/Steam knob prior to your Powering on your machine. You just need to turn the HW/Steam knob back to neutral and begin your coffee making process again. :-)
I lost the rubber disc but in the website I can't buy it because it's out of stock.. can you use something else ? Thanks

Hi Mr. Hoon ! Glad you are doing really well. So my question is the solenoid valve (it usually makes electrical buzzing noise during extraction and the pressure becomes much lower than where it should be).. I have replaced it twice in the last 7 years, and it's a little annoying to keep having to go through the cycle as if it needs that maintenance no matter how I try to keep the machine clean.
I have no idea. Is hard to replace it?
@@HoonsCoffee not too hard, but it is WORK since you really have to break it open. I am not as HANDY as you are you know :)

Another great video Hoon! I just got a barista express a couple weeks ago. I've gotten petty consistent with double non-pressurized shots, but when I try single non-pressurized baskets (even after adjusting grinds size to correct brewing pressure) I get soupy pucks every time. Any tips on this? I'm going crazy over here.
I do have same problem with single basket as well.What's kind of bean are you using it now?

Possibly Sumatra would make me like americanos. Now I'm working on my latte art turns our it's not that easy 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Have you ever tried making a cafe cubano con leche? (with milk). I'm not Cuban but it is my favorite right now.

I think Cafiza is pronounced "kaf-ee-za". Urnex, the company that makes Cafiza, also makes a powder called Dezcal for descaling, and a big tub of it is not expensive and will last for years.

I went to get the tablet its 17 dollars and not 9 dollars. Did you get it on sale?
Do you change the water filter as well? Also get the cafiza powder works out cheaper than the tablets and you get more uses out of it.
How many grams of the powder do you use?

Blinking light is Clean me and Solid light is Descale.

I usually empty the water tank but I know what you mean. It still have water in the system. I have to look into that!

I only have a double basket. Can I put the disk in the double basket? (No hole disk)
Ideally you want to use single.
The descaler tablets is the same as the liquid
