Great video, interesting though where you said it breaks because the way I was taught to do it you do the tight loop first then feed the other wire through the hole so there’s no bend like you do, would be interested to see how much stronger it is without it

Good morning, Tim, excellent demo with the coloured wires, as I was able to follow the making with the plain wire. I have never heard about the Tex Brown knot, so it was a learning curve for me. I think more of what you do as a like a religious calling than a job. 🤣😂😅Keeping us on the straight side of the wire. Not bad for this early in the morning. Cheers

My accountant would agree with you about the not being a job thing…..

Love your videos! Since this is a great knot for barbed wire, I’d sure like to see it demonstrated with barbed wire. I would also like to see you do the strain test using the Tex Brown on barbed wire.

Yeah. There’s a whole nother video just on that coming. You’d be justified in complaining that I didn’t compare it to others on plain wire if I didn’t shoot this the way I did. It’s coming…..

Tried Speed knot on box assembly for brace wires , the knot was very difficult to do because the opposite 2 wires plus 3rd closest wire were in the way. Texbrown was much better and will keep an assembly together I reckon.

Another good one Tim. I use the tex brown over the strainer knot as I’ve seen plenty of strainer knots break over time, but now I’m wondering why I do!? Any chance, next time you are using the test bed, that you could break a termination knot, just so we know what sort of breaking strain it will take?

Also going to try and not bend the first step 90 degrees -maybe 45 see how I go .

Hi Tim, now you have your test rig and your comparing knots, why not test the commercial joiners, crimps, gripples etc?
    Love your work!

Sounds good, looking forward to it. I know you don't like the Big W Gripple but all I use these days both the joiner and Tee Grip. Used both, the crimp type as well with excellent results. It would be good to see if they are as strong as a knot.

The Speed Knot seems faster and simpler to tie.

Any advice on straining sheep mesh with just a couple of sets of regular strainers? Or am I setting myself up for failure?

Aint about breaking strain because you are not fishing? Its about joining wire under tension

And quite popular so worth testing. Keep an eye out for more knot tests in the future.
