2001 BMW e38 740i Sport First engine start up after fitting new timing chains, chain guides and overhauled Vanos units with Beisan Systems M62TU Vanos Seals Repair Kit.
I have a 740i sport and am doing the same job and just wondering the easiest way to get the new vanos seals in the gears mine just end up getting stuck down farther then the spot they should fit into i ended up ruining a few rings in the process, just wondering the easiest way
About 48 hours - stripping all the cooling system, both rocker covers, inlet manifold, CCV valve, valley pan, water pump, thermostat, timing covers, alternator, power steering pump and lines, timing chains, guides, Vanos units, upper and lower sumps etc. Refurbushing Vanos units and putting everything back together with new parts, seals and gaskets. + about 15 hours extra spent on cleaning all the parts by hand. Quite a lot of work.
