That story of Adam is heartbreaking. What a beautiful daughter that will now grow up without her daddy. Absolutely disgusting how they had no regard for them.
That 2nd story with the single father hit me hard. He seemed like a really decent man and father. Why does a man like that have something so cruel done to him, and not to a deadbeat abusive father?
I beg to differ that he was a decent man. *at this point the brain dead degenerates that bring up consent laws to defend that man, I’m ignoring you. Legality doesn’t equal morality. Get stronger morals and arguing points 😌.

Ah children, back in my day, we didn't have dating apps. We had party phone lines! Call a number, and get matched with a person or go into a voice chat room of sorts. I knew a girl who used one of these lines to arrange a "paid date" with a man. Turns out, she and her boyfriend jumped the guy to rob him and ended up murdering him and stealing his car. The guy was a local attorney, so his disappearance was front page for a couple days until his body was found. That was when I saw this chick's mugshot on the news, and was like, "oh no! That's so-and-so's ex! She's been to my house!!!" She and her bf are still in prison.
It’s because the victims unfortunately are a minority, it’s often that they get brushed off by the authorities due to stigma. In Toronto a serial killer targeting the gay village had been downplayed multiple times to be rumors when men were going missing. The killer was active for 7 years getting away with 8 murders before being arrested.
Man in that second story with the father really breaks my heart and the fact that girl only got 25 years, they should’ve all gotten life without parole
@@sokerampage Would it though? I know people who move so that their background check comes up empty. Also, how frequent are they supposed to do one? They did one and it came up clean.

The second story is not only horrible for the obvious moral reasons, but it also just makes me wonder what they were thinking. Going in I thought the guy was going to get shot trying to fight the robbers or something like that, but no, they just added a murder charge onto a few hundred dollar robbery for absolutely no benefit. Were they afraid of being identified? It doesn't sound like he knew them. Were these lowlifes stupid enough to rob a guy at gunpoint without masks? Obviously the tragedy of the whole thing is the main focus here, but I really do wonder what in the actual fuck they thought would happen.
they were stupid enough to commit armed robbery over a few hundred dollars and then kill someone who was fully compliant, so we're probably not dealing with criminal masterminds.
It's just such drastic measures for such little payout. The girl getting a $50 cut is a lot of effort for nothing. Morals aside for a second, she went on a full date, then came back for $50? That's less than $15/hr paid out once with huge risk! Factoring morals back in, she's vile on top of dumb.
The fact they killed the man for essentially a trip to the grocery store makes its even worse. Like really? They should've gotten more time for their stupidity alone. Why rob a dude for s meal at reb lobster
I actually just watched a show which featured the woman in the first part. It was a miracle that she survived, he severely injured her but she pulled through and was able to make practically a full recovery. Something was looking out for her that day.
@FungiRy91 The guy was already reported by the first woman he killed. If the app did their job they should've banned him. And if you were stabbed 10 times and stomped into a coma you wouldn't be fucking angry at the company who didn't ban this guy with the first woman? It’s so sad. Single fathers need to stop looking for sex/love and childcare help, and focus on raising their children until they’re older. It’s dangerous out here in these internet dating streets, you never know who you’re talking to and it’s not worth the risk.
@@ravenrebel3183I think that that’s flawed in a way because of course most people want love especially if they had a child but everyone has there own opinion
because the person isnt dead. The fact that there is still a life on this planet at the end of the day is why it gets less of a punishment. I know. It's fucking dumb. The only difference between an attempt, and successful, is the execution of it. The motive is obvious as fucking day, but "oh, they didnt _actually_ kill them so its fine!"
If I had to guess, it's because if both were equally punishing, it'd encourage people to go through with the murder. Less punishment for an attempted murder means the criminal always has the choice of a lesser punishment if they decide to stop before it's too late. If the punishment was just as harsh, they would likely go through with it to eliminate a key witness.
I had a friend growing up. Same friend used Grindr to target gay men to beat and rob with his other friend in Texas in 2019. Lost a football scholarship his older brother made good on and is now doing 20 or so years behind bars. Plus I almost got scammed on OkCupid. This stuff ain't a game

I met my fiancé through online gaming. Even though we gamed and talked for hours upon hours each day, when we finally met up after 8 months, I was still a bit hesitant and made sure I was safe as possible. I was so relieved that the person I fell in love with online was the person I met in person. You can trust someone online, but breaking that real life barrier can be scary. And you still have that thought in the back of your mind “what if this person is a killer or rapist?”
Actually that is a good sign of a guy willing to wait that long to meet and the fact it actually gives you time to get to know each other. I am a survivor of lots of bad stuff & even people I just met I would be upfront and say I only want friends & am NOT going to travel to meet a stranger and they would turn around and harass me & some threaten me. So I rather be alone than deal with that.

The Wade Ridley case is very distrubing because he is not much different from most abusers. This is something I learned from the book "Why does he do that" by Lundy Brancroft. The terrifying thing is that when he attacked those women, he didn't lose control like he claims. It's clear that he didn't lose control because he didn't hurt himself or anyone besides the woman he wanted to attack. When he said "She needed to pay for what she has done", that is the more accurate statement. She has hurt him and he believes he is entitled to punish her in retaliation, and that murder is a justified punishment. This has throughly convinced me never to touch online dating again, thanks. Yes, men like this exist outside of online dating too, but they usually have reputations that follow them. Online dating makes everything much easier for men with dangerous attitudes. BTW, it is not much different with Stephan Port. Stephan Port has fantasies about what his perfect romantic partner will be like, and when the boys he meets don't live up to that, and disappoint him or hurt him in the process, he believes that he is entitled to murder them. In his mind, literal murder is equal to whatever tiny and probably unintentional offenses these boys committed.
"Why does he do that" should be reqiured reading for everybody ever working with law enforcement. Seriously, almost no criminals truly "lose control" when they claim they do, if they did, you'd basically have zombies attacking everyone near them, not guys lying in wait specifically targeting someone who they think has slighted them.
I remember hearing not so long ago in my country about a group of men who would catfish others on grindr only to beat them up at the encounter. And of course, several of my friends had their pictures stolen and used on Tinder by scammers, really sad how in either case authorities did nothing and there was actually no coverage of the story.
25 years?!? Hailey Bustos needs to stay in prison as long as that man's daughter is alive at a minimum. All of the perpetrators in that case deserve the chair.
I feel bad for the first woman but I fail to see how Match should be sued for it. If you met a stranger at a bar and then the stranger attacked you, would you sue the bar too?
Maybe because Ridley remained to have an account in the site and still was able to pursue other profiles? I mean, some other sites can block someone's IP right? Or maybe its the lack of admin action or whatever idk
Right. This whole case infuriates me so much. Why not just take the money and stuff and leave? Even when he pleaded for his life and let them take whatever they wanted. It’s absolutely sick
It’s like all of those times someone has been murdered for a few dollars in a cash register at a gas station or liquor store. Some people have no empathy or value for other human life. They also have no creativity or ability to evaluate risk-to-reward when it comes to thinking of ways to make money…
Unfortunately this is the world we live in. In order to minimize your risk when using online dating apps/websites, always meet in a public place that has a decent amount of people like a restaurant. Drive yourself (do not let the other person give you a ride) and if you can, take a photo of said persons car and send it to your safety contact. Which brings me to my next point, have a safety contact. Send a photo of the person you’re meeting, and their name, as well as where you’re meeting them to a friend or family member. Someone should always know where you’re going and who you’re meeting. Don’t keep things on the DL for your own safety. You can also have check in times with your safety contact where they know to reach out to you if you haven’t touched base and call the cops if they can’t get ahold of you. You and this safety contact should have something like “friend finder” on your phone so they can pinpoint your location. Do NOT go home with them no matter how hot they are and don’t let them come to your home. Wait until you know them better. They shouldn’t know where you live. Is some of this excessive? Maybe. And odds are you’re not going to need it, the average person isn’t. But better to have safety plans in place and not need them then to need them and not have them.

Online dating may seem totally harmless at first glance, however, there’s so much more to it than meets the eye. People should always be cautious who they’re interacting with online. It may seem extra, but the least they could do is to verify the identities of the people they’re engaging with. Check if they had extensive criminal record, have an NBI clearance, to name a few examples. Overall, this video really puts into our minds the importance of being constantly and consistently careful with what we’re up to in various social media apps apart from those which kinda specialize on dating.
I'm seeing sentiment like yours in a lot of the comments what I'm wondering is why does it matter where you meet the person? I have a story like this. I live in a pretty small town in Ireland (population 19,000). We had a scary few days in which a serial killer was on the loose. On the first day, a man was attacked and was nearly blinded while walking his dog. On the next day, a TD (politician) was found murdered and sexually mutilated. On the last day another man was found dead, a home-help nurse who was very badly mutilated in a manner similar to the first murder. To make matters worse, his teenage nieces were the ones who found him. Both of the men were (perhaps closeted) gay men who were using Grindr or some other app to set up meetings. It turned out the killer was a 23 year old Middle Eastern man who had grown up in the town. He was in the year below me at school, but I didn’t really know him. He came from a particularly conservative Muslim family with a hyper-masculine father. His motive solely derived from his hatred of gay people, but some people suspected that he was gay himself. A terrible story all around and a pretty crazy thing to happen in such a small town.
I have some horror stories of my own, but one thing that cracked me up about this was how the algorithm blasted me with ads for dating apps while watching this video. Nice work, Google, showing that you either haven't become sentient, or if you have, you've become a psychopath.

I actually met my girlfriend through tinder. I have a lot to thank that app for. Even though online dating usually really sucks. I am one of the few who became really lucky.
I’ve had great experiences with tinder. It gets a lot of hate that I don’t really understand. I think if you’re continuously having encounters with horrible people, that’s kind of your fault. Remember you pick who you advance with. It’s not hard to take precautions like calling/video chatting before a date, running a simple scan of their online profiles, and choosing a public location to meet. Not saying that creeps are entirely avoidable, but there’s a lot a person can do to minimize their risk
So, I meet this gal on POF and we get to chatting through the website. I look over her profile and she claims to be 26 years old, 5'2" (I'm 5'7") with an average build. By her photographs, she looks very pretty and I have no reason to doubt that this is not her. Flash forward a few days later when we come to an agreement to meet up. The only way she can meet up is after work, as she works two jobs and goes to school. She asks me if I would like to hang out and talk by the park near her house at around 7pm. I did not think it was too odd as we had been flirting back and forth on the messenger and I was really taken by her. Well, I go to the park (which is already dark except for a single light post and a bench next to it) and I am now totally alone sitting on the bench. I look around and from the distance I see the shape of a woman coming towards me. As she comes closer to me, I start to notice a similar facial appearance to the woman in the POF photos. It's my date except she is not 5'2", average build, or even remotely looking like a 26 year old and more like a 6 foot tall 17 year old line backer. Right away I become uncomfortable- but I try to stay calm. We start chatting (bad idea) and she starts telling me that she has gone on over 200+ POF dates and almost always usually ‘bangs’ on the first date. She goes on to tell me that she wants to write a dating book about her "sexy" adventures in the online dating world. Well, after 30 or so minutes of back and forth chatter (mostly from her) I tell her that I need to leave as I had work the next morning. She agrees to let me go but only after I gave her a hug. I shrugged and said why not. Well as I go in for the hug, she pulls me in to her gravitational pull using what I can only describe as "alligator strength" and starts to bear hug me. As I start pulling away from her- her hands start stretching towards my butt which she firmly grasps like two sweet potatoes. I start saying something to the effect of "uh, yeah, okay, that's enough now" and she lets me go but not before giving my chest pecs a thorough examination with her butcher claws. After what seemed like an eternity, she lets me down from her grand bosom, I do a 180 spin as I tell her goodnight and start speed walking towards my car. I hear her say something as I am walking away but I was too frightened to look behind me. I jump in my car and speed off into the night.. never to see her again.

Yes, I agree. Crazy story. Twitchell would've fit into this video perfectly. It was actually in Edmonton, Alberta. I live in Edmonton and although I'm a ways away from the house he lured his victims to, I'm actually not far from the sewer where he dumped the body of one victim. R.I.P. Johnny Atlinger. Great video, Wavy.
So they didn't check the bodies for dna, any camera footage or proof check the note with his other writings. I've seen a similar case on youtube where the british police interrogated a man over 9 times and didn't clue in. Really pisses you off when you hear them doing the most lazy unprofessional blunders and most basic checks.
I think it's mainly because the victims were a minority group. It definitely reminds me of Jeffery Dahmer, who's targets were POC (people of color) gay men. I've seen a pattern of this but police brings out many apathy to those who are gay, POC, etc. He even said in his interview that the reason his targets were black gay men was because police would've cared less. I never understood how attempted murder doesn’t carry the same charge as murder. You tried to kill someone and failed so you get less time?
because the person isnt dead.
Because the distinction between motive/intent and action are foundational aspects of law

Ikr, he gives me dexter vibes but irl

Overall, this video really puts into our minds the importance of being constantly and consistently careful with what we’re up to in various social media apps apart from those which kinda specialize on dating.

Damn, the police really believed Port at first. Reminds me of when Dahmer got away with stuff at first - until they found his stinky shrine made of humans.
I think homophobia played at least some role. If the victims weren't young gay sex workers would they have cared more? I think so.
I was thinking the same thing, eerily similar to Dahmer.
Some things never change unfortunately. Police bias will always be a factor in letting monsters go.
They definitely dropped the ball here but on that first murder at least it was not a case of them just convicting him for the sake of it. The guy was a POS in the end but imagine if his story was real. Though they definitely should have investigated further/kept tabs or something.

My ex wife met her second husband on Match. He moved in with her and my daughter three months after they met. I was furious. I told her this was not normal but she assured me he was a good guy. Fast forward to one year later, they disappeared with my kid. Took 6 years to find them again. SIX FUCKING YEARS. Come to find out he was beating the shit out of my ex wife the entire time, even when she was pregnant with their kid. The kid was born autistic and the blame is on him cuz she strangled her to the point of passing out three times while she was pregnant. Dear guys and gals....
If Your significant other reads through Your phone without Your knowledge, as if having things hidden from them was some cardinal criminal offense, freaks out when You are simply talking to a person of another/preffered gender, as if exchanging few words was allready equal in his/her mind to bedding them...
I don't care who You think he or she was in their "best". Just run away. Away from them. Break up, block their number, don't let them close to Yourself or Your loved ones. If they will keep harrassing You, do Your best to get a restraining order. Such diaturbed personalities are damn fertiliser for a ground on which insanity and every effed up thing that comes with it, can bloom. Place of such people is in straightjacket, not by Your side. And don't believe he/she will "change". It's a mental horrible issue and more often than not, such people are not possible to rehabilitate (as they don't see how anyone can view their waco actions as anything out of the "norm", and therefore don't see a reason in changing their attitude). If You ever come across such a person, do Yourself a favor and leave them as they deserved to be - by themselves.

My dad used the predecessor to a dating app back in the 70s, before he met my mom. Apparently it was some sort of "supercomputer" with an algorithm that matched people based on their questionnaire answers. The young lady he matched with was named Gretah, but he read it as "Greath" (yes, like "grease") and I guess was too embarrassed to do anything about it.
I met my wife on Tinder, but I probably wouldn't be comfortable letting our kids use dating apps in the future.

Online dating is tempting but just way too dangerous.
This makes me even more hesitant to ever use dating apps again. I didn't have anything like this happen but I did get catfished by a girl using a several years old pic of herself who had,ahem..let herself go so to speak. Like badly. I stupidly told her where I lived beforehand and when I met her I went ahead and ate dinner with her bc I didn't want to hurt her feelings even tho she'd basically defrauded me lol. That turned into a 4 month long stalking episode where she was sending endless texts, calling, writing letters (who the hell does that anymore) showing up to my work and home, etc. It was a nightmare and I finally broke down and got a restraining order put on her bc I was at my wits end. Needless to say I've only met girls IRL since then at bars and stuff and I try to stick to the ones that have friends with them so I know at least someone can stand them.
I actually met my girlfriend through tinder. I have a lot to thank that app for. Even though online dating usually really sucks. I am one of the few who became really lucky.
Let us know if she ends up murdering you
Literally met my bf off of Plenty Of Fish. He’s great 😊
I’ve had great experiences with tinder.
I’m so sorry, that sounds so scary and I am glad you got out relatively safe :(
I have had some scary situations that felt like close calls from tinder dates
Dude, the single father didn't put up a fight and was willing to let the criminals take whatever. He just wanted to be alive to raise his daughter. They still shot and killed him! Poor guy. I feel terrible for him and his daughter.
Fr, me too.
That's why they killed him. If he fought back, it would have helped.
@@A_TH-cam_Commenter That's a f*cking lie and you know it. They probably would have killed him anyway and there ARE situations where if you cooperate you'll be fine because theives usually have zero reason to kill you, these people were just idi0ts who thought $50 was worth a life..
the grinder murderer story is crazy. I actually heard it on a fav podcast of mine "my favorite murderers" that talks bout all wild stories like that. Cool to see you cover rit and have pics so i can finally put faces to everyone.
I realize that hindsight is 20/20, but i swear i can see the "crazy" in most serial killers eyes before I have any knowledge about what they did. It's like a cold, black, bottomless well of hate and ignorance.
Seriously. Me too. They either look soulless or angry
You can say that but looks arent everything. Some serial killers were apparently attractive or appearing very approachable. Aure it may be an indicator but its not damning evidence.

@@RachelRichards you do realise a lot of neurodivergent people have difficulty expressing emotions facially? Writing all those people off as serial killers is kind of ableist.
The Mark Twitchell story is a crazy and sad story, too. Took place in Ontario, Canada. I'd love it if you created a series on this subject.
Me too, I'd also like a series about this
Yes, I agree.
@@theanti-psychoticnews1435 Oops! Thank you for the correction.

It's hard to tell this but it's true, police does not give the same equal amount of empathy when it comes to race or orientation.
Honestly, this was probably homophobia. They found out these men were gay escorts and just washed their hands of them. Its disgusting this still happens.
Hindsight is 20/20. When you have the whole story it's easier to just say "oh wtf we're the cops thinking"
