So I tried this yesterday and IT WORKED! I warmed the water for 45 seconds in microwave. Added the acetone coconut oil mixture and rubbed the nails every minute. Eventually I was able to pull the gel powder off with my bare fingers and then use the cuticle pusher scrapper for detailing. Afterwards, I applied jojoba oil on nails. Worked like a charm! Thank you for this!

I put coconut oil in acetone while removing gel polish and it worked really well 👍🏻 my nails are healthy and not damaged!

This worked infinitely faster, better than drilling off all the dip powder. It definitely took more than 10 minutes for me though (with no coconut oil and the 100% pure acetone in the same brand used here). I think the time probably depends on the dip powder and base liquid used (I use azure beauty for both). I still had my nails clear before my water had cooled though so this method works like a charm. And I was surprised the acetone didn’t evaporate like I expected it to (used to the speed rubbing alcohol evaporates) so it was more efficient in terms of acetone use than I thought it would be. I will definitely continue to use this method going forward.
Hey! I’m so glad this worked for you! You can speed up the time by filing as much off as possible (this is easier & faster with an efile). It also helps to make the water as warm as possible, but without burning of course ☺️

I do this 2 remove my manis I file off most of dip and or builder gel... I have a proper soak off bowl it's quickest way 2 remove my Mani well I think so personally 🤔

Its better if using a ziploc bag to put the acetone with the oil inside a container with warm water.
You can use a ziploc bag if you choose. I prefer bowls to limit waste, but haven’t found any difference in effectiveness when using a bowl instead of bag ☺️
Does this method work for polygel?
Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with polygel so I'm not sure. My guess would be yes but better to check with the brand you're using for removal instructions.
I have tried multiple methods to remove my dip powder and for some reason it takes So. Long. It takes me around an hour. I've wrapped them, tried this method and it takes forever! Any other suggestions?
Make sure you’re filing off the top shiny layer and that you’re using 100% acetone. If it’s not pure acetone (and just a regular nail polish remover) it will take a long time. Also make sure you’re rubbing your nails in the acetone to scrub them off.

@@katelynmcwilliams4104 Double check the acetone you're using to ensure it's pure. Using acetone that is diluted is a common mistake and will lead to a lengthy removal 🙂 Also, if you add coconut oil to it, make sure to only add a small amount so it doesn't prevent the acetone from working correctly.
@@KaylaKingsberry I used the acetone I got with my revel kit, and actually never used coconut oil at all. 🤪
@@katelynmcwilliams4104 Ah ok - Hard to zero in on exactly what might be happening without seeing your process so trying to make a best guess from common mistakes 🙂 The other thing may be that you're not filing down enough. Are you using regular dip top coat or gel? Also, make sure when heating up water to soak off that you make it as warm as possible without burning. That will greatly affect how quick your removal is.
Mine just turned into a gooey mess...
Try adding a paper towel to rub your nails on to help agitate the dip to remove while soaking

I did this but the dip powder melted away and got on my fingers and left my bowl real gross. What am I doing wrong?!😢

Ok so when I use dip powder on my nails it always ends up cracking and peeling off and taking part of my nail with it leaving them thin and worse then before! What am I doing wrong? How do I make it stay so it doesn’t crack and fall off with part of my nail attached 😂 please help! Tysm!
Make sure you’re prepping your nails properly. Remove cuticles (I use blue cross cuticle remover) and dehydrate the nail (you can use rubbing alcohol). Also make sure you’re dipping enough layers and avoid overbuffing to prevent cracks. Cracks are sometimes the cause of dip being too thin or your activator is contaminated or old. Hope that helps!
I had this issue with nail dip with only my natural nails. So use tips, your natural nail might be weak or like said above the nail prep is not good enough or need more layers. After using tips, can be short or long, I don't have any cracks with dip powder unless something happens like hand/finger getting caught in something.
The salon I got my nails done at insisted that I should go to them to have them removed and they ABSOLUTELY destroyed my naturally beautiful and healthy nails. They basically told me they didn’t know where the gel ends and my own nails start so went really deep with their drill bit!!! I am so mad at them!!!

This does not work for me. Acetone dries out ur nailbed like no one's business. There's so many "quick" tips on SM. Rather take ur time and do it the proper way. Cotton balls soaked in Acetone with naipclips or wrap the cotton balls in Aluminium Foil. It's time consuming but best for ur nails
You were kinda deceitful on your soaking. You know you have to use some kind of tool to get the product off. You made it seem like you put your hand in and the product just disappeared.
Hey there - There isn’t any tool required when soaking. As mentioned in the video, you do need to rub your nails with your other fingers to agitate the dip during soaking to remove. Or, you can add a cotton ball (paper towel works too) to rub your nails against as well. The video shows each step exactly as I do it every time. @@KaylaKingsberry i read that if I put some oil to acetone it wont take it off so easily. Is better to used it with not any type of oil
@@lisafernandez7887 If you add too much oil, it can reduce the effectiveness of the acetone. That's why if you choose to add any kind of oil to counteract some of the drying effects, you should only add a small amount.
This does not work on 10 minutes. The process is very messy and long. Once done your natural nails are thin.

One thing that is often overlooked is the type of acetone used. It's very important to use 100% acetone - not regular nail polish remover as this will greatly extend removal time.
Also, make the water as hot as possible, but without risk of burning. Warmer water will be more efficient.
It's also important to file the shine off prior to soaking. The more you file off, the faster soaking will be. Be sure to rub your nails during the soak as well. Some people add a paper towel to help with this.
