Great video, definitely gonna help me doing wheel bearings on my buddies CRV his is the first one I’ve ever messed with of the CRV’s worked on plenty of 90’s civics. Just a lil pointer those are wobble extensions, I use em all the time on semis to get around things. Prefer them 9/10 over a swivel
Dremel with a cut off wheel works. Do 4 notches on the side almost down to the hub. Use a hammer and chisel or an air hammer to get it broke loose. Or just go get a cheap grinder from Hobo Freight.
Does it make a difference in wheel bearings if it is 4 or 5 hole hubs for the 97 honda crv. Will any rear wheel bearing work for the rear once it is in year range
Hi, Are you just reusing the original wheel "hub" (the part that has the studs)? Are these the same on 2wd and 4wd models? When trying to purchase new wheel hubs, all I am seeing are ones for the front. Are the front and rears the same? Thanks in advance.
Ive used a 3/4 all thread bolt with nuts and washers to press the hub and bearing together. assorted washers are necessary as to not damage the bearing races.
Having the same issue currently. Just learning that the AWD and the front wheel drive are different sizes. Is there a way to make it work or do you just get different ones.
@@MichaelBennettEFAddict which I found out means removing the lower knuckle bolts so to swing the control arm and hub assembly up and off the splines of the shaft… which of course are rusted to bushing on mine.. so Ive got it wrapped and soaking for a couple days. If it doesn’t come loose with the impact I’m gonna cut/burn it out. Then I’ve got to hunt down a new cam bolt. So a couple steps you didn’t have to do in your video which are necessary in the 4wd version. Thanks for the response.
yeah maybe for you but for the other 11,716 people who watched the video know how to replace a wheel bearing from a video about replacing a wheel bearing.
This video is insanely helpful, THANK YOU. It shows some things that were missing/not as obvious in the other videos I watched.
Michael this is a great teaching about how fix or change this auto part; I have been watched you from Panama City (PTY). Congratultions truly.

reuse the ones from the CRV you just have to cut the bearing off
@@MichaelBennettEFAddict thank you!
@@MichaelBennettEFAddict how did you cut it off
@@Dorkalicious grinder with cut off wheel. cut into it and then hit it with a chisel to crack the metal and it will slide off
@@MichaelBennettEFAddict can I ask you where you got the new race
I don't see it as part of what I recieved unless it's part of bearing itself
What bearing puller installer kit did you purchase I have to do the same job on my 97
i got it off ebay
Thank you what brand did you buy
@@derekwilson8011 i dont recall but there a lot of them on ebay for sale i think this one was around 89.00 shipped
@@MichaelBennettEFAddict alrighty thank you I'll shop around
What tool set is that you used to get the hub in the bearing?
purchased off ebay called a front wheel drive bearing press kit
@@MichaelBennettEFAddict thank you
Michael Bennett will that same eBay one work well for the front bearings
@@broke_miata i have always had to press the fronts in with the front knuckles off the car

Quick question. How did you pull that stubby out of the axle?
2 wheel drive so there no rear axle
So, what if it is AWD, will it be different?
@@AdamWhitney yes, there will be a shaft instead of a stubby.
Just did this and the spindal didn’t go all the way to the other side of bearing and has a lot of play is it ok ?
should be no play in the new bearing

This was a 2wd crv huh?
How would this change with the axel shaft in the rear?
@@richeyrich2203 same but you have to remove the CV axle first.

I don’t have invisible axles like you so I guess I’ll take my axle out then smack it
Ok that's great but where's the axle? It would be more helpful to show me how to cut grass without showing the axle removal the video is useless
