Which is why rhey still use spears, halberds, swords, Morningstars, and more ancient designs. Fortress of Doom's codex entry also confirms that the Sentinels do have dimensional travel capabilities. And part VIII in the Story of the Sentinels codex states that it was thanks to Hell Energy that they were able to travel through dimensions. The reason why I know that the Elixir that they were talking about in part VIII is Hell Energy is simply because it was mentioned in Part VI.

I'll be encroaching in speculation here now since we do not have any concrete information as to why his Eternal Shotgun is not a lever action. What the Slayer is using in Eternal is what he scavenged and could fix. The Shotgun likely broke down in Hell during the betrayal years before him being sealed. It likely got cut in two and needed fixing mid battle, and a break action while in the middle of ripping and tearing is the easiest fix. Just puncture a hole in and grab a stick to wedge it in to stay in the fight. Likely during the breaks in his fight, he restored it as much as he could with scraps. He literally told a Demon to craft him his 2016 Praetor Suit, likely because his Dark Age armor is broken. Which means his fight against the Champion Titan really is against him butt-naked. Which is likely why he made his Eternal Armor be eerily similar to his Dark Age armor with the open biceps and the uneven arm armor thickness distribution. Eternal Armor is not just asymmetrical, the Eternal Armor has thicker armor on his left arm because he is used to blocking with his left arm and have a heavier weight on it with the arm blade and the shield. Even the Fortress of Doom is scavenged. It was likely a part of one of those floating citadels that we see in the Dark Ages cutscene, hence why it doesn't have any living quarters and why it's detached with many broken pieces. The biggest hint that the Slayer has been on an scavenger hunt during his time in between 2016 and Eternal is the fact that the Slayer stored his Atlan inside. Likely thinking that he might fix it at some point in time once he gets the correct facilities.
It's kind of funny when you realize that the Doom Guy is purely a one dimensional character that's there to just do one thing. And I'm all for it. I love that all the internality they gave him was "I must kill demons". The whole lore of Doom is built to allow the Slayer to be a one note character by basing it around his hatred for demons being used as a weapon by more complex characters like Samuel Hayden.

I think the tragedy of the dark age can't be understated, doomguy's war with hell is what ultimately brought the argenta low. he brought it with him, but found a new home and a new people before hell cruelly took it away again. hell has taken more from doomguy than anything else, and ultimately all he'll ever have is his unending battle. his....doom eternal
getting to play in the age when the shadows first lengthened mentioned in the Slayer’s Testaments is a perfect setting for a prequel. fitting of when Doom Slayer was at his prime the game seems to step back from Eternal’s aggressive air superiority resource management gameplay and more towards classic style arenas and projectile dodging with a pure power fantasy focused arsenal. of course i don’t doubt their still going to challenge you despite this

In dark age I think we gonna see interaction of slayer more than any Time . What means we gonna go more in depth of his character like his friendship and comradery with sentinels and his grief of losing his brother's and betrayal of his own mentor

Makes perfect sense. "Before he became a hero, he was a weapon of gods and kings". That alone gives it away. I can easily see this as doomguy working his way up the ranks of the sentenal knights.
I wonder if The Dark Ages will take place pre or post Divinity Machine or if we'll get the power up at some point in the game. Because Hugo have described the gameplay as "Stand and Fight" which could imply that the mobility and verticality would be less than Eternal as you'll play more as an unstoppable tank instead of a demigod, which means that narrative/lore wise his speed is not on the same level as 2016 or Eternal. And judging from the trailer, it does seem like Doomguy doesn't have his godly powers yet and still possess his pre Divinity Machine superhuman attributes. If this is the case, it would be interesting to play a modern Doom game with a Doomguy whose powers are similar to the OG games.
maybe its just after the divinity machine, he gets stronger and faster after every kill thanks to the divinity machine so maybe his divine powers are still in their adolescence but still very strong nonetheless

Alright. I've tried to make sense of the timeline without retconning anything. Probably the biggest leap is the time jump after Doom 64 into the past and onto Argent D'Nur/Sentinel Prime. Before all games The Dark Lord's creations rebel against him, including the power-hungry Maykrs. His realm, Jeddah, becomes the Hell dimension. At some point, The Dark Lord is imprisoned in a life sphere and left in the Blood Swamps as his creations become increasingly twisted and demonic. Later, Hell is inadvertantly discovered by the UAC through experimental teleporation research on Mars. The hordes of Hell invade Sol through ongoing influence of the Dark Lord trapped in his Life Sphere. He continues to manipulate humanity and the Maykrs from this position. Events of Doom 1, Doom 2, Doom 64 occur, ending with Doomguy, a descendent of BJ Blazkowicz, deciding to stay in hell. At some point, a portal takes Doomguy to Argent D'Nur at a completely earlier point in this universe's history. He shows promise in the Sentinel's arena, having single handedly beat back the hordes of Hell, and climbs the ranks, while tipping off the Maykrs on the existence of the Hell dimension. Maykrs explore Hell and discover Hell energy, using it to enhance Argent/Wraith energy and allowing them to live forever. The Khan Maykr now never has to relinquish power to a successor, starts to go mad, and begins mutating from living too long. The Sentinel priests become influenced by the Maykrs and this new power and secretly make a pact with the Dark Lord to feed souls to Nekravol to allow the steady flow of Hell energy through ongoing wars. Citizens of Argent D'Nur are still unaware of the extent of the Priests' betrayal. A war begins with Hell. Faced once again with Hell's demons, Doomguy does what he does best and proves to be the Night Sentinel's greatest warrior. Some residents of Argent D'Nur are aware of the power of Hell Energy and join their side. Meanwhile, the Night Sentinels plan the Unholy Crusade. They enter Hell to fight, not knowing they will likely lose. During this battle, Samuel Maykr provides Doomguy with the last use of the Maykr's divinity machine, turning him into a god. Events of Doom: the Dark Ages begin. But this saga will likely end with Doomguy being trapped in the Blood Temple following the Priests' trap. The Sentinels lose the Unholy Crusade thanks to the nefarious Priests, who now reveal themselves as aligned with Hell (and the begin their mutation into demons). The Wraiths are ensalved to ensure Argent energy and Hell energy can continue to flow. Doomguy remains in stasis for 10's of thousands of years until the events of Doom 2016. At this point, history has repeated itself and we're back to an advanced humanity screwing around with hell. This time they're not inadvertantly opening portals to hell. Instead, because Samuel Maykr has been undercover as Hayden, the UAC to purposefully enter hell and find Doomslayer while siphoning hell energy to advance Earth's technology. Being undercover for the UAC also ensures he has the power/resources to explore Hell to find the Doom Slayer (or more specifically, use him to clean up lingering Hell forces, stem the rise of power of the Spider Mastermind, and steal the Crucible). Events of Doom 2016 occur Ending with Hayden thinking he no longer needs Doomguy after stealing his Demonic crucible. Time passes with the Doomslayer in an unknown location, maybe in stasis for a while. At some point Hayden realizes his meddling has become out of hand and brings Doomguy out of stasis/retirement. Doomguy recreates his Maykr space station at some point (the Fortress of Doom), and is observing Earth. As the demons invade just as they did in Doom 2, he decides to get in there and end it. Events of Doom Eternal begin. Doomguy reclaims his weaponry and crucible. He kills the Icon of Sin, again, and goes on this time to use his godlike powers to completely end the saga by killing the Dark Lord after resurrecting him from his Life Sphere.This finally ends the war by effectively destroying the minions of Hell permanently. This of course, also affects Doomguy given his connection to the Dark Lord via the Divinity Machine.

Though there are a couple of things that I'd like to address (this was based on memory, so take it with a grain of salt): The Khan Maykr had a pretty good reason to use argent energy to ensure she doesn't undergo tranconfiguration (or whatever the process is called). With the Father gone, another Khan Maykr cannot be made. Without her, what would become of her people? "It's your peoples survival against mine." Samuel Hayden went on an expedition into hell to find the Slayer not so that he could ultimately steal to crucible, but because he knew that he was "the only one that could stop them" in the event of something catastrophic happening. Hayden knew Olivia Pierce was being influenced by the Dark Lord, which can be seen during his interaction with her saying "your judgment is no longer considered sound." He needed a contingency plan, and the Slayer was the perfect option. Destroying the Dark Lord destroys all demons outside of his realm specifically (according to the Father), not all demons.

I don't know what your timeline is like and how busy you are, but I think seeing clips of the related testaments and codexes would be great. Same content but regurgitated with the receipts to help the short attention span part of the population understand. Plus it would still be cool. Not a clone video, but maybe a different presentation of a similar take off the Doom lore. Your opinion on this matters to me. You put the time in as a fan of this franchise. I’ve never played any Doom game before. Around Doom Eternal, I heard about some cutscenes and lore and stuff, but didn’t look into it. When last I checked, Doom was about a futuristic company opening portals to Hell on Mars. How the heck have we ended up with other planets and kings and gods and stuff?
in doom 2016 the futuristic company discovers a dimensional rift on mars to hell , this gives mankind access to argent energy (hell's power source) the futuristic company builds a tower to harvest argent energy and send it to earth to solve its energy crisis. they then start sending explorers through the rift into hell in "tethering operations" where they discover tablets detailing the history of hell and a sarcophagus containing the doom slayer as well as recovering samples of demons. The futuristic company is subverted into a secret cult that worship the demons to open a portal on mars via the tower used to harvest the argent energy to begin a conquest of earth. the CEO of the futuristic company opens the sarcophagus and unleashes what is inside to roll back the martian demon invasion. The tablets recovered from hell detalied that the sarcophagus contains the demons ancient enemy - the doom slayer. The doom slayer turns out to be the very marine from the original doom games that was kicked out of hell for being too nasty to contain. When he was expelled from hell he ended up in a parallel universe on a planet called "argent'd'nur" home to the argenta : a human civilization that worship the creators of the multiverse - the maykr angels and are exploring the multiverse and time itself aided by makyr technology. the arrival of the slayer/marine on argent'd'nur is followed by argent'd'nur itself being invaded by the demons. the slayer/marine tells the argenta how to defeat the demons and is inducted into their elite army- the night sentinels. One day hell sends a superweapon , a skyscraper sized demon to argent'd'nur . This demon proves unstoppable until one of the makyr angels is compelled to go against orders from the makyr leader , and places the slayer/marine in a device they called the divinity machine. The machine was supposed to be used to expose a traitor in their midst. What emerged when the marine was placed in it was a transformed warrior -the slayer. The slayer was granted superhuman durability , strength, and speed. This combined with his ferocious hatred for the demons turned the slayer into the ultimate weapon the argenta needed. He immediately slayed the skyscraper sized demon and petitioned the king of the argenta to begin the unholy crusade across the multiverse to eradiacte demonkind. As this war raged the argenta discover if the hell essence in the demons is combined with the argenta's energy source : wraith energy , argent energy is produced. argent energy can cure disease and grant immortality. secretly the argenta leadership caste and the maykrs make a secret pact with the demons to sacrifice argenta to build a argent energy factory in hell itself . the discovery of this unholy deal causes a civil war in argenta society - half of the civilizaion sides with the makyrs and the demons to continute to produce and use argent energy , the other half consider it unholy as to produce it requires human sacrifice to create the hell essence ingredient necessary to produce the energy. This causes the war against hell to explode into a massive cosmic conflict as entire planets are being invaded and harvested to fuel the argent energy factory in hell. The slayer and his faction are completely against the production of argent energy , the truce with hell and the maykr angels that brokered this unholy deal. The doom slayer and his army are then betrayed and trapped in hell during an operation to strike at the argent factory itself and destory it. The slayer is trapped in the sarcophagus during this betrayal and the story of doom 2016 begins.
The story shoukd be Doomslayer becoming wise to the evil plan and developing a way to save the Argenta people. He would open a gate for them to flee to Mars, in another dimension, and wpuld also help them have a way to save themselves through the soul cube. This could tie the entire Doom franchise together and give a lead in to the next storyline

I wouldn't be surprised if we start the game as a normal human Doom Marine and later on, as the war begins, we become the Slayer and gain our super soldier abilities. At some point in the game, we will be recognized as the hero by the Sentinels, just like in Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal. It wouldn't be surprising if the game ends with the conclusion of the war and the Slayer returning to Hell, where he receives his Praetor suit from the Wretch before being placed in the sarcophagus. Perhaps the events of the Dark Ages will be the backdrop for Doom 2016's beginning.
I'm excited for this prequel. I really wanna see the fight against the Titan in close up and also how everything went sideways with the corruption within the Maykers.

Now i cant get back into the rhythm of battle and die before i can really move. Probably have to start over, least its angood game!
Seeing that mural artwork of the Argent Civil War really makes me wish the Marauder was a singular entity. Being *THE* Marauder and a constant rival to the Doom Slayer. Like say, every time the corrupted entity was slain, his soul returns to Hell only to eventually return even stronger to be an eternal thorn in the Doom Marine's side. Like someone elsewhere excellently mentioned, something cool like how the Marauder's spirit can never be allowed to rest until he succeeds in taking out the Marine.
The lore in Eternal is done SO inefficiently, I'm glad someone was willing to slog their way through every codex entry. That was one of the few problems I had with the game. Maybe this game is meant to fill in all of that information more effectively.
Yeah the devs admitted they went a bit too heavy with the codex as lore dumping, mainly because they didn’t want to force people to get fully versed in the lore if they didn’t want to. It seems this time they want to show more
It was a tough one to get my head around at first. Having told the story countless times now, it seems to simple. Still a few holes in the lore though. Hopefully Dark Ages can fill them in.
Didn't the slayer kill the Dreadnought titan that was tearing apart Taras Nabad right after he got his divinity machine upgrade? And the demon conflict had just begun, so it doesn't look like the mech/atlans had been built yet. So it seems like the slayer was able to take down the Dreadnought with just the crucible. I'm most interested to see how they handle massive enemies in The Dark Ages! Excellent recap! Thanks for posting.

Doom 64 The Lost Levels comes in that role. The Resurrector (sister of Mother Demon) teleports Doom Guy out of hell to abondoned UAC facilities for saving Hell from his anger and rampage. Doom Guy cleans facilities again and find his way back to hell and kill The Resurrector but she manages to teleport him to Argent D'Nur before she dies.

Makes perfect sense. "Before he became a hero, he was a weapon of gods and kings". That alone gives it away. I can easily see this as doomguy working his way up the ranks of the sentenal knights.
I wonder if The Dark Ages will take place pre or post Divinity Machine or if we'll get the power up at some point in the game. Because Hugo have described the gameplay as "Stand and Fight" which could imply that the mobility and verticality would be less than Eternal as you'll play more as an unstoppable tank instead of a demigod, which means that narrative/lore wise his speed is not on the same level as 2016 or Eternal. And judging from the trailer, it does seem like Doomguy doesn't have his godly powers yet and still possess his pre Divinity Machine superhuman attributes. If this is the case, it would be interesting to play a modern Doom game with a Doomguy whose powers are similar to the OG games.
Maybe we'll get in the divinity machine towards the end of the campaign... that would be cool
maybe its just after the divinity machine, he gets stronger and faster after every kill thanks to the divinity machine so maybe his divine powers are still in their adolescence but still very strong nonetheless

Alright. I've tried to make sense of the timeline without retconning anything. Probably the biggest leap is the time jump after Doom 64 into the past and onto Argent D'Nur/Sentinel Prime.
Before all games
The Dark Lord's creations rebel against him, including the power-hungry Maykrs. His realm, Jeddah, becomes the Hell dimension.
At some point, The Dark Lord is imprisoned in a life sphere and left in the Blood Swamps as his creations become increasingly twisted and demonic. Later, Hell is inadvertantly discovered by the UAC through experimental teleporation research on Mars. The hordes of Hell invade Sol through ongoing influence of the Dark Lord trapped in his Life Sphere. He continues to manipulate humanity and the Maykrs from this position.
Events of Doom 1, Doom 2, Doom 64 occur, ending with Doomguy, a descendent of BJ Blazkowicz, deciding to stay in hell.
At some point, a portal takes Doomguy to Argent D'Nur at a completely earlier point in this universe's history. He shows promise in the Sentinel's arena, having single handedly beat back the hordes of Hell, and climbs the ranks, while tipping off the Maykrs on the existence of the Hell dimension. Maykrs explore Hell and discover Hell energy, using it to enhance Argent/Wraith energy and allowing them to live forever. The Khan Maykr now never has to relinquish power to a successor, starts to go mad, and begins mutating from living too long.
The Sentinel priests become influenced by the Maykrs and this new power and secretly make a pact with the Dark Lord to feed souls to Nekravol to allow the steady flow of Hell energy through ongoing wars.
Citizens of Argent D'Nur are still unaware of the extent of the Priests' betrayal. A war begins with Hell. Faced once again with Hell's demons, Doomguy does what he does best and proves to be the Night Sentinel's greatest warrior. Some residents of Argent D'Nur are aware of the power of Hell Energy and join their side.
Meanwhile, the Night Sentinels plan the Unholy Crusade. They enter Hell to fight, not knowing they will likely lose. During this battle, Samuel Maykr provides Doomguy with the last use of the Maykr's divinity machine, turning him into a god.
Events of Doom: the Dark Ages begin.
But this saga will likely end with Doomguy being trapped in the Blood Temple following the Priests' trap.
The Sentinels lose the Unholy Crusade thanks to the nefarious Priests, who now reveal themselves as aligned with Hell (and the begin their mutation into demons).
The Wraiths are ensalved to ensure Argent energy and Hell energy can continue to flow. Doomguy remains in stasis for 10's of thousands of years until the events of Doom 2016.
At this point, history has repeated itself and we're back to an advanced humanity screwing around with hell. This time they're not inadvertantly opening portals to hell. Instead, because Samuel Maykr has been undercover as Hayden, the UAC to purposefully enter hell and find Doomslayer while siphoning hell energy to advance Earth's technology.
Being undercover for the UAC also ensures he has the power/resources to explore Hell to find the Doom Slayer (or more specifically, use him to clean up lingering Hell forces, stem the rise of power of the Spider Mastermind, and steal the Crucible).
Events of Doom 2016 occur
Ending with Hayden thinking he no longer needs Doomguy after stealing his Demonic crucible.
Time passes with the Doomslayer in an unknown location, maybe in stasis for a while. At some point Hayden realizes his meddling has become out of hand and brings Doomguy out of stasis/retirement. Doomguy recreates his Maykr space station at some point (the Fortress of Doom), and is observing Earth. As the demons invade just as they did in Doom 2, he decides to get in there and end it.
Events of Doom Eternal begin.
Doomguy reclaims his weaponry and crucible. He kills the Icon of Sin, again, and goes on this time to use his godlike powers to completely end the saga by killing the Dark Lord after resurrecting him from his Life Sphere.This finally ends the war by effectively destroying the minions of Hell permanently. This of course, also affects Doomguy given his connection to the Dark Lord via the Divinity Machine.
Excellent recap. Though there are a couple of things that I'd like to address (this was based on memory, so take it with a grain of salt):
The Khan Maykr had a pretty good reason to use argent energy to ensure she doesn't undergo tranconfiguration (or whatever the process is called). With the Father gone, another Khan Maykr cannot be made. Without her, what would become of her people? "It's your peoples survival against mine."
Samuel Hayden went on an expedition into hell to find the Slayer not so that he could ultimately steal to crucible, but because he knew that he was "the only one that could stop them" in the event of something catastrophic happening. Hayden knew Olivia Pierce was being influenced by the Dark Lord, which can be seen during his interaction with her saying "your judgment is no longer considered sound." He needed a contingency plan, and the Slayer was the perfect option.
Destroying the Dark Lord destroys all demons outside of his realm specifically (according to the Father), not all demons.

I don't know what your timeline is like and how busy you are, but I think seeing clips of the related testaments and codexes would be great. Same content but regurgitated with the receipts to help the short attention span part of the population understand. Plus it would still be cool. Not a clone video, but maybe a different presentation of a similar take off the Doom lore. Your opinion on this matters to me. You put the time in as a fan of this franchise. My love for this shit began at 9 years old when I first played Doom on the PC...

I’ve never played any Doom game before. Around Doom Eternal, I heard about some cutscenes and lore and stuff, but didn’t look into it.
When last I checked, Doom was about a futuristic company opening portals to Hell on Mars. How the heck have we ended up with other planets and kings and gods and stuff?
in doom 2016 the futuristic company discovers a dimensional rift on mars to hell , this gives mankind access to argent energy (hell's power source) the futuristic company builds a tower to harvest argent energy and send it to earth to solve its energy crisis. they then start sending explorers through the rift into hell in "tethering operations" where they discover tablets detailing the history of hell and a sarcophagus containing the doom slayer as well as recovering samples of demons. The futuristic company is subverted into a secret cult that worship the demons to open a portal on mars via the tower used to harvest the argent energy to begin a conquest of earth. the CEO of the futuristic company opens the sarcophagus and unleashes what is inside to roll back the martian demon invasion. The tablets recovered from hell detalied that the sarcophagus contains the demons ancient enemy - the doom slayer. The doom slayer turns out to be the very marine from the original doom games that was kicked out of hell for being too nasty to contain. When he was expelled from hell he ended up in a parallel universe on a planet called "argent'd'nur" home to the argenta : a human civilization that worship the creators of the multiverse - the maykr angels and are exploring the multiverse and time itself aided by makyr technology. the arrival of the slayer/marine on argent'd'nur is followed by argent'd'nur itself being invaded by the demons. the slayer/marine tells the argenta how to defeat the demons and is inducted into their elite army- the night sentinels. One day hell sends a superweapon , a skyscraper sized demon to argent'd'nur . This demon proves unstoppable until one of the makyr angels is compelled to go against orders from the makyr leader , and places the slayer/marine in a device they called the divinity machine. The machine was supposed to be used to expose a traitor in their midst. What emerged when the marine was placed in it was a transformed warrior -the slayer. The slayer was granted superhuman durability , strength, and speed. This combined with his ferocious hatred for the demons turned the slayer into the ultimate weapon the argenta needed. He immediately slayed the skyscraper sized demon and petitioned the king of the argenta to begin the unholy crusade across the multiverse to eradiacte demonkind. As this war raged the argenta discover if the hell essence in the demons is combined with the argenta's energy source : wraith energy , argent energy is produced. argent energy can cure disease and grant immortality. secretly the argenta leadership caste and the maykrs make a secret pact with the demons to sacrifice argenta to build a argent energy factory in hell itself . the discovery of this unholy deal causes a civil war in argenta society - half of the civilizaion sides with the makyrs and the demons to continute to produce and use argent energy , the other half consider it unholy as to produce it requires human sacrifice to create the hell essence ingredient necessary to produce the energy. This causes the war against hell to explode into a massive cosmic conflict as entire planets are being invaded and harvested to fuel the argent energy factory in hell. The slayer and his faction are completely against the production of argent energy , the truce with hell and the maykr angels that brokered this unholy deal. The doom slayer and his army are then betrayed and trapped in hell during an operation to strike at the argent factory itself and destory it. The slayer is trapped in the sarcophagus during this betrayal and the story of doom 2016 begins.

He would open a gate for them to flee to Mars, in another dimension, and wpuld also help them have a way to save themselves through the soul cube.

I wouldn't be surprised if we start the game as a normal human Doom Marine and later on, as the war begins, we become the Slayer and gain our super soldier abilities. At some point in the game, we will be recognized as the hero by the Sentinels, just like in Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal. It wouldn't be surprising if the game ends with the conclusion of the war and the Slayer returning to Hell, where he receives his Praetor suit from the Wretch before being placed in the sarcophagus. Perhaps the events of the Dark Ages will be the backdrop for Doom 2016's beginning.

Can't wait for dark ages. I still have to finish eternal. I got about 80 percent of the way thru it and stopped for a few weeks. Now i cant get back into the rhythm of battle and die before i can really move. Probably have to start over, least its angood game!
Seeing that mural artwork of the Argent Civil War really makes me wish the Marauder was a singular entity. Being *THE* Marauder and a constant rival to the Doom Slayer. Like say, every time the corrupted entity was slain, his soul returns to Hell only to eventually return even stronger to be an eternal thorn in the Doom Marine's side. Like someone elsewhere excellently mentioned, something cool like how the Marauder's spirit can never be allowed to rest until he succeeds in taking out the Marine.
I had a feeling the super shotgun was sentinel in origin before Eternal came out and I can’t wait to see the other weapons in dark age

The lore in Eternal is done SO inefficiently, I'm glad someone was willing to slog their way through every codex entry. That was one of the few problems I had with the game. Maybe this game is meant to fill in all of that information more effectively.
Yeah the devs admitted they went a bit too heavy with the codex as lore dumping, mainly because they didn’t want to force people to get fully versed in the lore if they didn’t want to.

It was a tough one to get my head around at first. Having told the story countless times now, it seems to simple. Still a few holes in the lore though. Hopefully Dark Ages can fill them in.

Didn't the slayer kill the Dreadnought titan that was tearing apart Taras Nabad right after he got his divinity machine upgrade? And the demon conflict had just begun, so it doesn't look like the mech/atlans had been built yet. So it seems like the slayer was able to take down the Dreadnought with just the crucible. I'm most interested to see how they handle massive enemies in The Dark Ages! Excellent recap! Thanks for posting.

Not tryna to distract from Dark Age, but they can technically do another prequel of the time Doomguy spent in hell between 64 and Doom 2016
Doom 64 The Lost Levels comes in that role. The Resurrector (sister of Mother Demon) teleports Doom Guy out of hell to abondoned UAC facilities for saving Hell from his anger and rampage. Doom Guy cleans facilities again and find his way back to hell and kill The Resurrector but she manages to teleport him to Argent D'Nur before she dies.
