It's amazing how it feels so much shorter when I play it
So true
exactly
I know, right? I'm one of the bassists, and when the bass and cello solo came on, I thought to myself "has it only been this long?"
diabolicallink 16 of the longest 2 measure rests I've ever had 😂😂😂
playing this in 8th grade
This is one of the few songs where a viola can feel like they actually play something 😂 first to play the melody
My whole orchestra loved playing this 😂
First violin has a solo tho
Doesn’t the cello solo have the melody first?
As a viola, this is so true lol
The cello is first
it doesnt feel this long when youre playing it omg
true! we sight read this the other day and it felt so short
Right?
Ikr
Funny how that works out
Yeah we went over it for the first time section by section and it took the whole class period somehow
when i was in high school, i remember playing this in my philharmonic orchestra. :)
shout out to my violas
Same.
Viola rules
Cassill Elliott true, true
Viola Power
Viola for days😍
+SleepySheep #Viola at awesomeness
We played this song in Orchestra! I love this piece so much! It is my favorite! It is fun, especially when you are 1st violin.
yeah when your a first. the seconds get nothing. not even one measure of the melody
Yeah, I notice the Seconds just sitting in the corner and I'm laughing in the inside at them.
dont laugh at us we suffer enough. the whole orchestra picks on us.
paige aaronson Maybe second violins should try playing louder. -A proud member of the viola master race.
we do its just that noting happens in our music. its straight quarter notes
I live for this cello melody
I like how they stretched it out to give it more drama. I think I'm about 300 of these views
10:07 mom's start clapping
Someone in the back row: shut the hell up is ain't done yet
This happened when we played it last year without the guy shouting.
Playing this song as a string bassist is SO MUCH FUN!
Shout out to my fellow cellists. 😋😋 I love playing this song.
I'm 1st chair cello and my school orchestra is playing this song (coolest orchestra song ever)
Matthew Moyer I remember playing this when I was first cello. Man it was great.
sToP fLeXiNg im sixth chair
the 1st chair cello part is irrelevant to this comment
I love this piece so much. When my conductor have it to our orchestra I fell in love. As a Viola I don't usually get many important parts but in this piece I feel like I am actually playing with the violins
As a cellist, this is so hard, but SO FUN!!!
+Oona Birdie This song isn't hard to me lol i got this song yesterday and i already mastered it lol
+Sin Linkk Ok there, Yo Yo Ma. You're soooo cool.
Lol I wish!
As a cellist, this is a nice challenge. Not too hard, not too easy. The solis and solos are good length, and the aggressive musician I am, I let all of that loose at around 6:45, measure 136 I think.
Playing this in my school's orchestra :) the viola part is pretty fun.
Yeeess!!! Violas for life!
SOOO much emotion and power in one piece. It tells a great story over its duration. Love it now, and always will. The ritardandos feel very natural, and dynamics are powerful. As a violin player, this piece is both amazingly fun and riveting to listen to.
trying to convince my music teacher to play this for my Senior year right now 👍 hoping he says yes 😁
High school? We played 8th grade
My turn to conduct: 7:52
End of conducting: 8:43
Sorry, that’s a personal comment, because my orchestra is switching out people who conduct for certain parts of each piece. This sounds awesome, and is so fun to play! Shoutout to my fellow cellos! (we have no violas so I play viola part lol)
Sad viola noises.
Because no one picked the viola. It is very underrated.
@@MsCindyrich lmao the biggest section in my orchestra is viola. A few years ago someone told us it was the only way to get a college scholarship.
Cello pride
Will McLaughlin YESSSSSS!!;
Will McLaughlin YESSSSSSS
Hell yeah
also bass pride
and viola pride
I'm sorry I play all of them I can't choose.
Who am I kidding I choose cello over the rest. It _is_ the best one, after all.
Alowishus Devadander Abercrombie yo viola is the best. I don't know what you're talking about with cello being the best. it's so easy to play! I like a challenge :P
Erin Hydorn that is basically a cello that hasn’t went through puberty
Ending soloists represent! Played this last year and despite this not being a 'classic' (or technically challenging, IMO) piece it is easily one of my favorites throughout my entire 4-year orchestra experience
Read the myth about pegasus and then listen with your eyes closed and then you can really appreciate it.
Im a little late to reply, but even though i havent read the myth everytime i listen i close my eyes and imagine a pegasus flying through the clouds.
@@elainacarr9198 I'm really late to reply, but yeah, Richard Meyer is really good at creating imagery
6:48 gives me chills every time. The cellos sound so good!
THIS IS A MASTERPIECE!!! It's been an entire year since I played this in 9th grade, and now as a sophomore I need to play it again. Simply wonderful!
SAME. I still have 90% of it memorized 😂
We're playing it now. I'm in 7th grade 😂 we suck so far lol
Playing this in my high school orchestra for state contest and I absolutely love it.
love cello and bass melody I play cello
go celloes
CELLOS ARE THE BEST!
Yeee
Y’all ever eat them. B e aN s
where are my cellos?
why are there only violas
Joshua Zhou violas are the best that's why lol
naw, violins are da best :)
Heyyyy
Definitely chellos

I remember playing this. So much fun.
I just heard the Highschool play this piece! it was amazing!! hope I get to play this piece when I'm in high school!
ARMYYYYY
I played this song as the first chair violinist
Best piece to play your heart out in high school, I felt energetic and professional playing this back when I was 2nd chair 1st violin
6:50 through 7:37 is fun to play as a viola with those eight notes that you can hear
Yes!!My Absolute Favorite Part Out Of The Whole Piece!!
Daniel Roach I
Daniel Roach a
As a cellist it’s fantastic too
Played his back in high school, I’ve been searching for this for forever, finding it and listening to it has made me cry
This song gives me the MAJOR feels UGH
Wow the bass part is so beautiful (especially around measure 136 I think it is). I'm honored to be able to play this song for my orchestra.
I'm playing this and I'm a first violin and it's challenging mainly cuz we just got the music but it's my favorite piece I've played in orchestra and I've been playing in an orchestra for 5 years. It's challenging but sounds amazing!!
I know everyone else is doing the exact same thing, but I'm playing this song in orchestra. It reminds me of soaring over California or whatever you call it in Disneyland
The ride is called Soarin'
@@God-nc1ql my strings teacher mentioned that it sounded like the music played at Soarin.
wow i miss this so much 🥺
One of my favorite songs we have sightread in orchestra
At our school there's literally 30 2nd violinists and literally 10 1st violinist including myself and we're playing this in junior high going to eighth grade and the overall piece is amazing great job Richard Meyer
Wow, we have 7 first violins and 7 seconds x( for high school only me and my friend are going into orchestra also (2/6 8th grade violins doing orchestra next year)
why didnt they make it 20 2nds and 20 1sts?
You would want to have more 1st violins actually
All the basses put your hands up!
Heyo!!!
Debbie Herceg I remember playing this in 6th grade as a bass, basically he takes all of the best students from all 3 grades in my MS and he shaped me to the player I am today. It was pretty funny to be in his class because he would always throw stuffed animals at me when I would start to day dream when I wasn't playing and with everything I do I always just start to phase out but whenever I play my electric or standup everything changes my eyes never left his right hand and I would only reference to the page after a while. I remember this last year in 8th grade at the end of the year I thanked him for all he has done to help me.
Ya pfp is traced I seen it before
Hell yeah!
playing this from a basses perspective is pretty fun, usually you stay in the background, but with this you can have some fun being a bit more out there, and Meyers did an awesome job with it along with the rest of the orchestra
This song is played very well, much better than any other junior high that I've ever heard!
My orchestra is playing this. I'm first bass
D Combs hey same, but your probs graduated
In my orchestra we played this. The first few weeks the firsts couldn't get the melody at all. So my director switched the seconds and firsts. We (The seconds) did better on our first try than the firsts on the first two weeks.
The cello solo where the chimera appears is amazing, though.
I had the violin solo for this piece when my high school orchestra played it! it was super fun! First and probably only solo I'll ever get haha.
I played this when I was in 6th grade and it's always been one of my favorite pieces
I am playing this song. It is so EPIC!
ugh this song is so good im hype to play this w/ my orchestra
&& i hope i get the cello solo yoo
violas anyone?
Kylie. No yeeee
Me
Heck yeah
yeah boii
Right here!
This is so beautiful, I hope I can play this in the future. I’m first viola
well its a year later and this was handed out to me this week. huh can i predict the future
I am doing this tomorrow for my school!!
Played this Eighth grade year for Spring Concert.
CONWAY SAYS WE'RE PLAYING THIS IN SUMMER AO
also Divertimento in F by Mozart (which I listened to on loop for 2 hours yesterday) and Warrior Legacy by Soon Hee Newbold (which has a 2nd violin solo, lol- along with 1sts and stuff)
Played this back in 7th grade! My first in orchestra solo ever lol
Its like about Pegasus dying... so its all sad and stuff. But then at the end its like happier-ish because Pegasus when to "heaven"
whoa! what happens at 6:50? suddenly R.M.'s really sad.....
I can't play this as a 8th grade cellist
Am I disabled
Nah, all you need is practice/patience. You got it, we all have our arch-nemesis songs.
any one else getting star wars, star trek and harry potter vibes from this?
I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE
We're playing this for our fall concert and I'm the violin soloist
Congratulations
And yes I know you probably already performed it
Same ~
Good thing there is a repeat button :)
9:22 oooph favorite part
I got first chair for this concert when my school played it. :)
7:21 so fun omg
7:20 my fav partttt
Im playing this! 2nd Violin :)
same :)
Honestly this makes me miss playing cello so much
O: im in this orchestra right now :D
What’s “this” orchestra??
Damn... Who is playing the first violin solo at 4:15? No offense, but the tone could definitely be better. And yes, I do play the violin, so I do know what I'm talking about.
I think it's just their violin. Lots of beginners have cheaper instruments, but if you really listen to it you can hear how they didn't get anything out of tune and fibratoed every note
I guess so. That's a valid point.
+Ria Ray This is advanced orchestra. An advanced first violin soloist would not have a CRAPolin
It's pretty good for a middle school orchestra
For a middle school orchestra, yea, it is advanced. I don't want to sound snobby or anything, but compared to most orchestras around me that are outside of school, this orchestra is at a beginner level.
viola for life. #YOLO (you obviously love orchestra)
No
HHMS Anyone?
This is a beautiful piece...
Srsly? You're in HHMS Adv Orchestra too?!
@@bojieli11 Lol I'm first chair cello
@@bojieli11 um i prefer not to say my name in public but yeaaaa
@@bojieli11 i mean tbh you could just edit it but sure
@@kt1638 Yes
by your username, i'm gonna guess that you are first chair violin but I'm not sure
I'm playing this in my orchestra!!!
Nice quality, but I feel like the intonation could have been better, my violin isnt a professional violin but it still sounds like a soloist/pro violin. Its all about passion on the solo or how you play the instrument, its all about how you can express your soul in the solo. If the song has a solo that doesn't reflect your playing style, then don't play it, or learn how to vary between different playing styles
I had the cello solo for this is my orchestra
Celloes at 6:48, best solo ever !!!!!!!
At a couple spots, it sounds kind of like the music at "Soaring over California".
I'm playing it in my Orchestra, and we're only in middle School so it's pretty amazing that we can actually play good for it, I think we might be playing it for All city but not intirrlly sure. But this sounded amazing!
Really good song
Anyone from Memorial High school
Zion Collins No
I am in middle school and we are playing it... hmmmm
SAME
Same
The sad part is that the solo at 4:15 could be better, and I know this because the 1st violin 1st chair in my middle school does an OP job.
Shout out to my cellists x bassists!
Is... Is that a viola solo at the beginning?... Is my instrument finally getting recognized?...
Lady Tookie the very beginning solo is a cello.....😬
Viola gang gang🎻😤
Me too!
And I'm sure it sounded fabulous, chief.
JHS stands for junior high school.

IM ALMOST 21
i was 18 when i posted this r u kidding me this is crazy
SOMEONE TEACH ME HOW TO VIBRATO ON THE CELLO😫😫😫
Christian Lemma it takes time I spent a year just working on it and it sounds good just find a teacher and just do drills and warm up to improve
Damian Olender I appreciate you💕
Of Glorious Plumage has a special place in my heart over this but eh.
Grayson Highschool was here
Where are the cellos?!? I only see violas ;(
cello solo B)
*plays this song in class* im so annoyed of this song omg i swear if i hear it one more time
*comes home and listens to it and cried* its so amazing
I remember playing this one a long time ago... think I'd still take Momentum over this
U sure? Momentum, if i remembee correctly, was not all that great
There was a part we played near the end that just put me in another world for some reason. Same as Themes from the New World Symphony. I don't know why, because over all this one is better. Strange..
Um... the one by Robert Longfield right?
Richard Meyer
Oh...
at about 3:00--I hear the adventures of string man!!!!
2:42 measure 62
Only cello and viola here, needs more String Bass.
For cello
