    Hutch you're my hero! I am restoring a Grand National and I need to pull the AC box to clean and repair it, and your videos are super helpful! You make it look so easy I'm tempted to pull the entire dash and clean it and check for anything else that needs to be done. Thank you so much!

      That's great to hear!! I can tell you the A/C is easier with no dash. Plus you can clean those nasty A/C ducts. Good luck and post back.

    Do you know what that relay is for @ 16:24? On the gray plug that you didn’t touch both orange and pink wires are cut on my car.

    • @hutchhiperf
      @hutchhiperf  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I want to say the orange and pink wires run to a light green module behind the dash center (behind the radio) I think it's for the seatbelt chime. That might be why it's cut. Check that though, I could be mistaken on that.

      Cabin Filter? In the 80's?? :-) hahaha. No such thing my friend. The best you had was the foam screen attached to the Evap. I think that was for moisture control really.

    Hello. Quick question what holds the rear defrost switch into the dash

    • @hutchhiperf
      @hutchhiperf  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You'll have to get under the dash from the floor. The switch is held on from the back with a 7mm screw. If for some reason it's not a 7mm then it will be a 1/4.

    Hi,
    I have an 87 Cutlass Supreme Brougham 2 door RWD 5.0 Engine. I'm not sure if you can help but I want to know if the headlight switch in the dashboard has an indicator light that shines in blue on the top left of the switch. There is a single black wire with green stripe that looks like it attaches to the clear plastic housing on the left side of the switch. My wire has a metal cylinder on the end but no bulb. That cylinder snaps into the clear plastic housing and it has enough room in that housing for a small bulb. Looks like on mine that bulb broke off. Can you confirm there is a light and if so where can I get a replacement
    If you shine a light on the clear housing it shines a blue rectangle on the front of the bezel in the top left corner next to the headlight button
    I watched the video and the headlight switch was the only thing you didn't remove from the dashboard.
    Thanks!

    What is that cable for? I took off my glovebox and mine was not connected to the swing arm….wondering if it has any cause of my ac not working correct?

    • @hutchhiperf
      @hutchhiperf  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Hot/Cold Blend Door has a cable connected to it that runs to the A/C Head Unit. When you change your temp from cold to hot it moves a cable that moves that swing arm.

    I have an 85 442 with the same color interior. Was wondering if you know name/color code for the dash. Im in the process of restoring and want to get the right color

    • @hutchhiperf
      @hutchhiperf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dash is tricky because it's darker than the trim and seats. I'm wondering if it's the same color as the Grand National dark grey. Best thing to do is find a local shop that sells SEM interior paint. Take a piece of dash trim and have them color match it for you. The G-Body parts sellers have the interior grey that matches all the other trim, but is not as dark as the dash.

    • @hutchhiperf

    So the steering wheel and column has to be removed?

    • @hutchhiperf
      @hutchhiperf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. You can loosen it up and drop it down. You may have to remove the steering wheel to make it easier to get out. Go back and watch around minute 10;26 to see what I mean.

    What is the purple wire connector in 14:18 used for?

    • @hutchhiperf
      @hutchhiperf  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If we're both talking about the wire above the 25A fuse and below the 30A circuit breaker, then I think that's the 14ga PINK power wire for the Master and Pass Side power window switches.

    Is is it possible to replace the dash skin without removing the entire dash from the car?

    • @hutchhiperf
      @hutchhiperf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The exterior of the dash is bonded to the inner metal structure. There is no dash skin per se, there's just DASH. You will either need to have it repaired or find a replacement. Some models have dash covers you can buy that goes over your existing dash. Not every model has a cover made for it.

    About to take my whole dash out just to trace down the cluster illumination wire 🤦‍♂️ it isn’t getting power so my lights aren’t working . You have any idea because I got ripping it out ? 😔

    • @hutchhiperf
      @hutchhiperf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Taking the whole dash out immediately seems a bit extreme. Like taking the whole engine out to change the oil :-) You didn't say what GBODY you have. Take out the Instrument cluster first. You can see the wiring connector right behind it. You should be able to trace the wiring that way. All are pretty close in how they come out. Search youtube for "gbody instrument cluster removal" You'll prob find your specific cluster removal video. Good luck.
