    I love shooting with the 35mm framelines/crop on, with DNGs on, so that I can reframe a little if needed. Reminds me of shooting my Film Leica M with 35mm lens, except I can get the benefit of recropping if necessary!

    I still love my Q2. I don’t use it for weddings, still have the Sonys for that, but I do want to upgrade at some point to the Q3.

      Q3 overall better image quality for me. But the film sims on the Fuji are very very nice. So I think it just comes down to preference and if you want that film simulation look or something more natural

    The electronic shutter on the Q2 was fine. do you think its because of the 60MP sensor

    • @jcbarker1
      @jcbarker1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sensor on this camera reads out slower than the Q2’s so it’s definitely that. The blackout times are also noticeably longer on the Q3 compared to the Q2. I hope they can improve the blackout times as I don’t really care about the electronic shutter jello issues.

    • @walkingmeditation61
      @walkingmeditation61 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jcbarker1 excellent point which is not revealed in Q3 reviews. I will say they did remove the exposure constraints that the Q2 had for long exposures. I'd rather have a fast electronic shutter read out though. I don't think I'm buying the Q3 I have the Q2M I do miss color but hey thats ok

    Love the Q3 and have had two Q's a Q2 prior..I never really bonded with the Q until this one.. Absolutely love it, pretty much disagree with all the negatives you mention. 28mm is my favorite focal length, if it were 35mm I couldn't really use it as i shoot street. Focusing is fantastic. I think you needed a bit more time with it, including getting used to using the tilt screen. Multi field metering is not what I would ever use.

    Recently got my Q3. I actually prefer shooting RAW and love the colours that it normally shoots with. I tried the Leica looks and something just didn’t look right to my eyes. Like you, I’m hoping they open it up to the public to make and share our own.
    Edit- I tried the thumb and side grip and found myself reverting to shooting without either. Guess it fit my hand well. I agree with the wrist wrap take, makes it much nicer to shoot with.
    Edit 2- I’ve locked down ISO to a max of 3200 and shutter to mechanical only and even then, I find it clicking fast enough for me. 4 FPS is fine for me even when clicking moving objects. It has yet to fail me.

    • @Ares-vh8cm
      @Ares-vh8cm หลายเดือนก่อน

      Currently using a d600 and took photos of my kids jumping into water aka relatively fast movement. Would the shutter be able to handle that mechanical only? Still learning as an amateur photographer so was curious about it being able to handle that scenario. The technology has changed a lot so I'm not sure how the d600 compares but I bet it's no where near current tech.
      Hoping to avoid rolling shutter

    Coming from a Fujifilm, where I do have a minimum shutter speed option together with a min and max ISO setting, I've been 1h with a Q3 in my hand in a store and didn't undertand the concept on a Leica. Also went to the PDF manual, dowloaded from the site and on page 195 I got even more confused. It's like the concept is max shutter speed (instead of min). I should give an example of what I use frequently on my Xpro3: I fix a profile with min shutter speed to 1/250 for street photography, with min ISO = 160 and max ISO = 6400. I then go on using the aperture ring on the lens, usually between f/4 and f/8 ... imagine I'm shooting at f/4, shutter auto goes to 1/1000, ISO go auto on 160, there is enough light so the camera prioritises low ISO, makes sense ... I then push the aperture to f/8, the shutter speed automatically goes down but locks on 1/250 (because I've set it up before) and thats when the ISO kicks up until I do get the right auto exposure. So the sequence for me on Fujifilm is Aperture (manual) > Shutter (min value 1/250) > ISO AUTO until 6400. This is very important for my street workflow and I would love to clarify my doubts here before thinking about the Q3. Help appreciated

      @ivan_mervillie หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I used to shoot Fujifilm too, X-Pro1 and X-T2 (I still have two X-T2's). Since then I've been shooting a Leica Q2 and now a Q3. It is true that on the Fuji in Auto ISO mode you can set base ISO, maximum ISO and minimum shutter speed. On the Leica Q camera's you can set maximum ISO and minimum shutter speed (it's called Shutter Speed Limit). So except for the base ISO, which you can't set on a Leica Q, it always starts with ISO 100, it is practically the same as with the Fuji and you can shoot with the Q in the same manner you're used to with the Fuji.

    The Q-line is a great back up camera for professional photographers and often a good choice for amateurs, who just want a one lens point and shoot camera. It's a superb companion for M shooters, who have their 50 or/and 75/90 mm prime lens, but want an extra camera body and a wide angel lens. The quality will remain, long after the price is forgotten. Keep on rolling and enjoy life!
