INXS don’t get a lot of recognition Michael Hutchens should be up there like Mick Jagger Freddie Mercury Jim Morrison Michael Jackson David Bowie Bon Scott
Not something to be laughed at. 1. He was "on the scene" for 17 years, a decade longer than Jim M or Bon. 2. INXS were responsible for at least 5 great Aussie albums, successively.
It’s funny how everyone in the band had such different personas. Michael and Tim were the hard boy rockers while Andrew, Garry and Kirk could have worked for an accounting firm! Jon was like the little brother that went along for the ride. Yet they all blended seamlessly together with their creative differences and made perfect music as one band of brothers. Never tear us apart ❤
They were already an international success with The Swing but yes Listen Like Thieves got them recognition in America on MTV and in turn in the UK where they had their big successes.
No, I didn't. His vocal range wasn't expansive but who cares. He expressed emotion with a generous topping of soul. He was never meant to be a male Mariah Carey...To me, he was the perfect singer.....Wish I could've told him.....:(
Totally. These days you have tons of wannabe-singers who hit perfect notes on TV but can't craft a proper song (Hutchence's contemporary George Michael described that very well a few years back). Hutchence's ability to switch seamlessly between his "chill out" and "boom" voices (I'm unable to find the exact/correct terms) defined the sound of INXS heavily.
Based on what I remember from his biography he didn't rate himself highly as a poet, he said words to the affect he had to work hard to come up with good lyrics. He certainly has written some good song though.
61 years ago a legend was born, Happy birthday Michael you handsome devil x x thank you for the beautiful music you and inxs made that voice 😍 🎶❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So lucky! They were before my time sadly. Michael died exactly a month before i was born (R.I.P. my idol and inspiration) but I've loved them all my life and would do anything to have been able to have gone to Wembley. If you look at my profile pic youll see i recreated his iconic Wembley jeans for the Don't Change INXS tribute concert that came up here a few months ago. They were amazing and did INXS proud but I would still give anything to be able to have seen the real thing. Oh for a time machine 😂
Andrew Farriss says that their 2 favourite/best gigs of all were summer XS, and Sydney in October 1988 - their first concert back in home town after world KICK tour........I was lucky enough to have been there 😉😉
One of the best bands in Australia and the World, Miss Michael as he was an enigma in front of the world but behind, just your ordinary brother like guy. Best guys ever. INXS still the best.
They really worked well together. Like literally every member. To match all instriments harmoniously, then to have the voice, tempo, words etc. Incredible.
I was born in 1989, but I feel I have a far memory of this song when I was a child( Maybe thanks to Mtv) and this makes me happy because Michael was still alive and so handsome.☺ Rip immortal soul 💖
Without a doubt INXS were on their way to becoming the BIGGEST band the world has ever seen. Bigger than the Beatles, bigger than AC/DC, bigger than U2, bigger than Bruce Springsteen, bigger than Metallica, bigger than Michael Jackson, this band was on a trajectory to the very top. RIP Michael, you were truly one of a kind and your music will live forever. This song imo is the best of the best that they ever produced.
How this has only 1.6 million views is beyond me, great song from one of the biggest bands of the 80's & 90's, absolute legends and anytime I went to see them in concert always blown away and walked away afterwards thinking, Wow that was f*cking amazing
I so agree.,seemed like a sweet person, just a bit too delicate..like is not easy for sweet, sensitive people:'( I was 13 when he died and still it makes me cry thinking about this.
This song reminds me when I was on deployment in Antartica. 13 months straight. During the winter we used to climb all those mountains to see the beauty of that place! The anthem for my deployment! This song will always reminds me of what I experienced there!
Dios!!!! que tal canción, pura energía, Hutch como siempre increíble, dominio total de escena.. la parte de la canción con la llama de fuego atrás es formidable!!!!!!
Yeah, one of the only Australian bands... oh, besides ACDC, The Easybeats, The Seekers, Little River Band, Rose Tattoo, Men At Work, The Divinyls, Icehouse, Midnight Oil, Jet, Wolfmother,..
"Playing in the dirt, we find the seeds of doubt..." can't hear those lines without thinking of the times spent in various places of Australia: Bondi Beach, Port Melbourne, Manly Beach, Stradbroke & Moreton Islands, Balmoral, Airlie Beach, Whitsundays, Hamilton Island...
Talk about bringing back the memories. My god I love this song..... and quite honestly everything INXS has produced since. RIP Michael. Miss you mate...
My mum played INXS when I was a child, but I never knew the name of the band or song....I JUST REALISED THAT I RECOGNISE THIS SONG FROM WHEN I WAS 7 YEARS OLD! 10 years later, still remember sitting on my mum's shoulders while she rocked out to their songs. Wow, the nostalgia is real.
Been looking out for that belt buckle for years but I've never seen one as good as that. Never forget Michael chucking a sack of condoms across the crowds after he heard that they were banned for sale at the music festival in Tipperary back in 1992 due to Ireland's draconian laws on contraception. They just don't make rock stars like they used to.
one of my favorite INXS songs, I am a fan since 1990, And I can tell that the more that I listen music, the more that I admire to this kick ass band! LONG LIVE TO INXS M HUTCHENCE RULES!!!
I remember seeing them on this album in Brisbane. A huge velodrome. We all danced, no one was packed in. Heaven. This album before Kick but we loved them.
I honestly don't think i'v seen a man as beautiful as Michael apart from Jim Morrison who i think is equal to Michael in sex appeal, charisma, stage presence and infamy. He really is the 80,s - 90's Lizard King, gone but never forgotten.
Michael was a shining star who still shines bright in the night skies. Love you Michael glad I had the pleasure of seeing you and the rest of the band when you came back home to Perth to play...Something I will never forget..RIP shining star xx
One of the best songs on GTA Vice City and that is saying a lot, considering how exceptional curated that soundtrack was.
RIP Michael.

Lol that's really funny
Hehe
He wouldve been if he was around a little longer
Not something to be laughed at. 1. He was "on the scene" for 17 years, a decade longer than Jim M or Bon. 2. INXS were responsible for at least 5 great Aussie albums, successively.
Michael is so beautiful, his hair, his face, his body, his, moves, his voice, his lyrics, his music... His soul
Someone has a crush!
Why are you gay?
Still one of my favourite INXS clips - This is the epitome of an Australian band creating the feeling of a truly Australian video clip.
Were quite a few literal brothers in the band!
You sadly missed..still beloved and not forgotten...
It was clear at this point that they were going to be an international success, just a great track!!!!
They were already an international success with The Swing but yes Listen Like Thieves got them recognition in America on MTV and in turn in the UK where they had their big successes.
Man or women he is fit!!!
Hutchence was such an under-rated poet......love this song so much.....
geenomoney he underrated himself did you know that? He didn't think he was a good singer. he felt insecure
No, I didn't. His vocal range wasn't expansive but who cares. He expressed emotion with a generous topping of soul. He was never meant to be a male Mariah Carey...To me, he was the perfect singer.....Wish I could've told him.....:(

His vocal range not expansive to your standard may I know how's yours...
Based on what I remember from his biography he didn't rate himself highly as a poet, he said words to the affect he had to work hard to come up with good lyrics. He certainly has written some good song though.
Whoever chose that location for the clip was a fucking genius!!
Its Broken Hill in Australia
+Andrew Snowdon Think it was Lake Hart on the way to Coober Pedy
the parts that aren't in the salt lake are shot near silverton, just outside of Broken Hill Australia.
Agreed 1000%. The colours are so rich. That sunset, the smoke..........great stuff.
Yep Acha, to compliment the brilliant song!

My husband helped on a shoot out there once, for an ad or a modelling gig. I'll have to ask him more about it.
