and here i am in july of 2021 hooked to this wonderful show and checking all the interviews they did almost 10 years ago.... Where the hell was i 10 years ago that i didnt watch this show then????, but now checking it on netflix and what a treat.......
Me too. I've known about Downton Abbey for years but never watched it. I started watching it in 2021 and I'm hooked. The dialogue, the use of words and phrases are really top-notch. I wish there were other places to watch it apart from Netflix.
Once you see 1 episode you're hooked for life. The good news is there's a new FILM being released within the next few months. I know it's showing in USA first, and a short time later we in Ireland, and the UK will get it. I am a fan, a fan of the writer, Mr Julian Fellows, of the actors, of course, BUT as for Dame Maggie Smith, I've loved her in everything she has ever appeared in. She absolutely hates publicity, and all the bright lights of fame, she is so humble and self-effacing. I'd watch any production, even if she was the only person in the cast, just to hear her speak. Do you know anyone who can. " do sarcasm " like Maggie does? I'm sure she has been asked, several times to do a monologue . Razor sharp but also a beautiful kindness about her. She's a gem!
Same here, but I only found out about this gem of a series on Netflix in March of 2022! I am so engrossed that I also have been watching all the related stuff on TH-cam. This is one of the best series ever made.
Indeed she is - was and ever shall be. In this superb ensemble which is the ensemble to end all ensemble's - Maggie Smith is the splendiferous icing on top of the cake! In the midst of all this pure excellence- this top drawer cast- Miss Smith reigns (no pun intended) down upon all shining bright as the sun & as right as the rain.
I love Downton Abbey. I never watched it when it was first shown but when I was flying to New York and wanted something to watch I decided to watch all the episodes back to back. Now I’m hooked.
And he said he was a big fan. Anderson, I'm terribly dissappointed! A true fan would call him Lord Grantham, Your Lordship, Robert (channeling the dowager or the countess) or even Papa (if you feel like Lady Mary at the moment). NEVER Lord Crawley. Cringe. Granny would have chastised you. Or say someting about the Americans.
I am not used to the Earl and Carson looking so casual. I would have thought at least three piece lounge suits. But seriously, the acting is superlative, as are the production values. The casting is perfect.
I can watch all 6 seasons of downtown nonstop. I do actually. Every night I watch this. While I'm at work for the past 4 years. I am a very true fan, watching it right now as I type this. I only wish I was able to go to the exhibit in New York. My dream is to get to Highclair Castle. Can't wait. Thank you for an amazing amazing SHOW! I've never watched a show the way I watch Downtown. 💖💖💖💖💖
We got there during the "off season". We had to hike up a hill to see it. We did go up the drive way and got to (barely) see the castle. The whole area is beautiful.
+David Thaler i think he watched only 10-20 minutes of the first episode. because he mentiones daisy being covered in soot which happens at the beginning of the first episode.
I would however point out that since it is the Vanderbilts we're talking, the residence that comes to mind is Biltmore Castle. However the Staff resided on the 4th Floor (UpStairs) whereas the family resided on the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Floors. So literally they lived the other way round. In fact most American estates had this configuration which is quite contrary to their European Counterparts.
The Vanderbilts (Anderson's family) would've been seen like Cora. They made their money in railroads in the 1800s...so right around the time Cora married Robert.
I totally feel the same way! he is amazingly hot and weirdly, I have fallen in love with him as Thomas on Downton, and feel so bad for the loneliness and rejection that turned him so bitter and angry. I want him to find happiness with someone! But yes, sadly, in real life where he's straight and in theory we would have had a chance, he is taken. :( Oh well, we can still have our fantasies!
When "Upstairs, Downstairs" was being filmed, the cast who were below stairs would take tea and coffee to the cast who were upstairs. Then, after a while, one of the downstairs cast said "hang on a minute! we are all actors and can get out own refreshments!". That is a true story.
What a weird relationship americans have with British music and TV. Usually anything that originates outside of the States is labelled "foreign" and immediately dismissed as fit only for the a tiny majority of art house fans, yet British stuff is in this weird limbo of not being totally "foreign" but obviously not American either. No other country's cultural stuff is ever treated like this in the USA.
+Adrienne Gurge even the southwest is covered with the UK . My grandmother came from Scotland. and they moved to Oklahoma in 1907. My Grand pa from Ireland.
***** I agree. Indians were moved to Oklahoma. Yes Columbus landed in the West Caribbean islands. And Spain continued into Mexico. Bred with the Indians. IE Mexicans. I think it was Jamestown in 1500s or was it as late as 16s
Oh my god!! I never knew that! I am shocked... I stopped watching coronation st. in the late 90s/early 00s so i dont know any of the more recent people but imagine going from it to Downton??? I never would have thought someone would be let make thst transition .

I can relate - Started it Feb 2022 on Netflix and got hooked!

Am watching it all over again. And just got to know that there is a movie coming in May can't wait to watch
Same here, but I only found out about this gem of a series on Netflix in March of 2022! I am so engrossed that I also have been watching all the related stuff on TH-cam. This is one of the best series ever made.
It's their accents. It just adds character. How bloody charming they all are.
Loved this show.. excellent actors & stories. Ty ty ty for this shoe. After 10 yrs I finally got to watch it 2023
Daisy is so cute in reality too. And Thomas is so handsome
There is only one word for Maggie Smith MAGNIFICENT
Utterly agree with you! She's a magnificent actress!

A asáw2ààß
I completely agree
Omg Rob James Collier "Thomas" looks so handsome, also i love Dan Stevens "Mathew" and Allen Leech "Tom Branson"
Rob James-Collier is the best! He is gorgeous.
I love this drama! Every character has its own contributing factor.
Luv! Luv! Luv! Downton Abbey and have watched the entire series numerous times. Will more than likely watch again.
MPkno
I didn't see it on TV so I binge watched it over a 3 week period on DVD. Fabulous!
You want to dislike Thomas because he's so awful, and then you feel compassion for him. He's his own worst enemy.
I get disappointed in him. Cos he's so good looking I want him to be nicer, and I say to him 'Aw Thomas, don't do that!'
It's amazing how he just slips into the character, AND PLAYS IT WELL😊
I love Downton Abbey. I never watched it when it was first shown but when I was flying to New York and wanted something to watch I decided to watch all the episodes back to back. Now I’m hooked.
I’ve just finished watching the series. I love it; I’m addicted to it. I almost feel lost, now that I’ve finished watching it. lol.
I know right!!
Just start all over again.
I need more shows like Downton
Check out a series called “Berkeley Square” I think you will love it..
What a peasant! I'm surprised Carson didn't have a heart attack when Anderson referred to his lordship as "Lord Crawley."
this is funny, as Anderson Cooper is the son of a Vanderbilt haha
legitlogic1370 - EXACTLY!!! Lord Grantham, thank you very much.
Cringe. Lol... I was thinking huh Lord Crawley... where did he get that from
@@balletonly07 Being a Vanderbilt would barely score a single point with the British aristocracy, particularly when Downton is set.
I watch it over and over.
I watched this more than 3 times & every time was new for me.I love downtown abby♡
hahah i love rob, trying to get everyone to jump up when hugh stands. he's hilarious
I love Thomas. He is so interesting.
Downton Abbey is a breath of fresh air.
I just finished binge watching Downton Abby. Had not seen but a me or two episodes on pbs. I was mesmerized. Loved it. I miss them all so terribly.
I am not used to the Earl and Carson looking so casual. I would have thought at least three piece lounge suits. But seriously, the acting is superlative, as are the production values. The casting is perfect.
I love Downton Abbey! My favorites on the show are Cora and Daisy.
Brilliance at it's best!.love this drama!

At first Daisys life is basically the life of a house elf.
LittlePeculiar hahahaha hilarious!
Downton Abbey is the best series ever created.💯👏👍👍👍👍👍🍷Humanity, injustice, loyalty, life.
Rob James Collier looks even better irl.
just love this show the best all great actors
I forgot that underneath all that slime, Rob is an absolute fox! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Anderson's grandmother was part of that world, with a life much like Cora's (except not as happy) so I'm not surprised he is into the show.
His whole family lived like this lol they literally built Vanderbilt University
I kind of wonder if Anderson thought about his ancestors while watching.
It's NOT Lord Crawley!! It's Lord Grantham!! Blasphemy!! LOL
Oh well, bad mistake maybe, but not the end of the world! ;D
Crawley is his family name, Lord Grantham is his title .
I said that immediately!!
Brits can’t always get their heads around aristocratic titles let alone an American host 😀
ROB JAMES COLLIER IS beautiful omgsh
He used to play Liam on Coronation Street. Loved his character but they killed him off. :(
Just beautiful
The ladies are beautiful !!!!! Love the show !
The best series I've seen 👏 👌
DOWNTON Abbey!!!🇰🇿🇰🇿🇰🇿🇰🇿🇰🇿👍👍👍👍👍👍
You've watched two or three seasons and you refer to Bonneville's character as Lord CRAWLEY? SHAME Anderson!!!!!
+David Thaler i think he watched only 10-20 minutes of the first episode. because he mentiones daisy being covered in soot which happens at the beginning of the first episode.
thats what I thought too!
Love Love Love Love this Show!
This is the best actors ,actress I have seen in a n long long time. What a wonderful movie.
I wish Maggie Smith could've joined them.. Its her, I wanted to see
Our Maggie's not keen on crowds. She even hates to shop at Harrod's of London.
Anderson is a Vanderbilt lol back in the days of his grandparents and past, they had as much pomp.
No they did not.
Indeed, Consuelo Vanderbilt was the Duchess of Marlborough.
His grandmothers twin sister was Frieda Dudley-Ward and she was King Edwards mistress before he abdicated the throne for “That Woman”.
I just started watching this series this weekend...and by episode two I knew I loved it...it's right up there for me with Mad Men.
Thanx em. I watch the show in french w/ my mom and it's simply a well crafted show.
I would however point out that since it is the Vanderbilts we're talking, the residence that comes to mind is Biltmore Castle. In D.A. the staff are upstairs also.
Such a wonderful interview and so thankful for seeing too :)
"Free Bates" T-shirts lol
It is awesome to know it's actually a house that is lived in.
Hello its the family that discovered " Tuten kamun " the house has some artifacts from the tomb..
Yes it is. Highclaire house
Anderson is like an excited Drag Queen in her 1st show.
Finished the series today. Well done. 💜❤ Now, I'm watching the movie next!
I cannot stand Anderson Cooper..
He needs to shut up, and let them talk..
He is one of the worst interviewers on television.
What an ego .!!!!
The Vanderbilts (Anderson's family) would've been seen like Cora. They made their money in railroads in the 1800s...so right around the time Cora married Robert.
I miss them....😭😭
I was surprised when Carson said "sex" 😂😂
Lord crawly?? yes he's a huge fan. I can see -_-
and isn't it odd that Carson is sitting next to her ladyship?? this is so unreal
Anderson Cooper is very phony. This interview demonstrates that.
Great show 😀👍
Thanks for uploading!!! Never seen this before! Love them all!
I totally feel the same way! he is amazingly hot and weirdly, I have fallen in love with him as Thomas on Downton, and feel so bad for the loneliness and rejection that turned him so bitter and angry. Yes, it's funny for him to say "Oh, the Carnarvons" with a Thurston Howell accent, when some of his not-so-distant relatives probably knew them!
It's crazy how Sophie is older than Laura!
They all rock, particularly Jim! :)
They are family,.....love u all...
Thank you so much..It is a great show....Thank you....
Best show on TV.
I watch it on PBS.when it first came on.i have all of them on DVD.i watch them some time.dont want to get burn out.
SOPHIE IS SO DAMN CUTE
Now I’m on the sixth season and I’m dying
One of the best show ever. Too bad it's over after season 3 Xmas fiasco...
He is Lord Granthom not Crawley.
I miss them already
LOVELY !!GREAT TO SEE THE " DOWNTON ABBEY " !!WATCHING 2019 !!!THE RE-RUNS !!FROM (U.K.).
Lord Grantham, not Lord Crawley! Loved the series, my favourite character was Tom the chauffeur. Also loved Mr. Bates and Cousin Isabelle.
Anderson, it wasn't broadcasted just in England. It was shown in the rest of the UK as well..
Who else is here because of DA withdrawal waiting for season 5 ?
What a weird relationship americans have with British music and TV. Well England is our mother country so it makes sense. We don’t view Canada as foreign either due to the similarities
My late father loved British humor as well as I do. Check out "Carry on Nurse," which is hilarious and "Blue Murder at St. Trinian's!!"
The writers are way better in England, then the crap USA writers put out
Thomas is looking good huh
Lord Grantham
It is Indeed :)
Also proof that Anderson doesn't watch the show. Otherwise he wouldn't have said "Lord Crawley" :P
I'm surprised the cast didn't correct him
This show leaves Netflix May 31. I started watching mid-May and will finish season six tomorrow. 👑
“ Lord Crawly, what are you doing in a supermarket?”....
Eh hem.... it’s actually “Lord Grantham........”
is that Thomas?
You are not a fan, Anderson. lord crawley????
Season 4 is great but seemed short
Billy Purdy-Exactly! You might as well substitute Crawley with Vanderbilt and Downton with The Breakers
Ahh! Im watching the episodes online now- just saw the finale of season 2 OMG i can't wait to watch season 4 when it airs
Where is the most gorgeous and talented DAN STEVENS?
Rob James Collier is mine. Has been since he was Liam on Corrie and he just gets hotter with age. I want him goddammit
Oh my god!! I never knew that! I am shocked... I stopped watching coronation st. in the late 90s/early 00s so i dont know any of the more recent people but imagine going from it to Downton??? I never would have thought someone would be let make thst transition .
No, he belongs to the mother of his child. Desperate much?
Anderson is such a fan that h en call him Lord Crawley when he's actually Lord Grantham...lol
No Michelle Dockery, no interview. bye bye.
Ronnie Bishop feel the same way about Jim Carter
No Brendan Coyle here :( But the rest of the crowd is great, thanks for sharing!
And as the whole premise of the story underscores, New Money had its usefulness to families like the Crawleys.
I wished Shirley Mclaine had more scenes because she was fantastic!
Is anyone else annoyed that Anderson said Crawley instead of Grantham? *nitpicky*
Well, if you're a fan you should know the name.
Of course not!
I cant even handle how hot Rob is!
Anderson needs to go on SNL'S CALIFORNIA
Just a want to hit Anderson Cooper. He hasn't done his research for somone who claims to have already seen series 3
Just started watching this show. 2024 Now I’ve seen spoilers.
Why did Anderson's show get cancelled?
Anderson geeking out
Didn't think the name thingy would actual bug me...but it did
I hate when some people think England is the only part of the UK
If Thomas ever stands up, I'd gladly kneel. Not that "kneel."
