The story line was strong from beginning to end throughout the series. That's what makes Downton more popular than ever after it ended. Fans have a sense of nostalgia when the movie came out. TH-cam keeps those memories alive.
Miss this show. I started watching tv again for this show. I gave it up because of all the ad breaks ( the better the show, the more ads) and DA was the best. I would love to see it come back as a six part mini series, every character was unique, love them or hate them. ❤️

When the movie first came to our local theater my sister, with whom I lived, was unable to go out to see it. She had colon cancer. I ended up buying it and it was the last movie we watched together. I was so glad everything kind of came to happy conclusions. We both loved it.

Always felt that the characters of Downton were actually who they portrayed rather than actual actors , meant totally as a compliment to everyone involved, it’s the first time watching anything that I’ve experienced that feeling.
My absolute favorite show and set of characters that I’ve re-watched it more times I can remember!…Sometimes I like to put the show on when I’m going about my house chores and hearing it on the background is so calming to me :).

This is My favorite series of All Time!! I've lived many years and have seen A Lot of shows and series. This is By Far, the Very Best!!! My heritage is from The British Isles and Eastern Europe and it feels so much like home!!! 🤗🤗🤗
I've watched the entire series through 5 or 6 times. There's something about it that feels like coming home, isn't there? (In our dreams!). I love the French chairs in the Dowager Countesse's drawing room, they always get freeze-framed. And Maggie Smith, irreplaceable. And the horses (they needed a story line there!) And the gorgeous dresses, jewels, slim elegant bodies. Will we ever get to see the tower rooms and views at Downton? And the beloved characters, castle and story ... Wonderful! I'm about to buy my tickets for tonight's movie opening and can't wait to be in my seat, Covid respirator on, waiting for the lights to dim . We're going back to Downton!!

I feel this show is still wanted, needed and cherished. As an American, my ancestors from England had engaged in farming, industry and business. I for one am glad I am from now and this time. But it’s nice to see how the elders lived.

I have had my treat by first watching 4 seasons in a row last weekend, and after doing some homework , that had to be done, I had the pleasure of sitting on my own, for the movie. It was a treat indeed. I guess what attracts me most in this story is next to the grandness, the costumes and all that, is a sense of belonging. The way people living in a house, all almost like a family, upstairs as well as downstairs, everybody has his or her place and part in this society. It gives a clarity and certainty to life on wich one can hold on to, specialy in these uncertain times of a covid pandemic. This movie is a must see anyway!!
Absolutely LOVE Downton Abbey the TV series and the movie...they are great actors under a fantastic director but obviously lovely people in their everyday “real” lives too. Heartwarming... please let’s have more !

My husband and I went to watch on the big screen. It was fun to meet other Downton Abbey fans! I got the DVD that Christmas! I have the whole series and I love to watch it!
Visited Highclere last summer. Never realised it was only an hour from my home 🤦🏼♀️. Beautiful building and obviously looks identical inside to the show 😍

I started watching this show just to see what was it about, I've never heard of it before (this was last year, 2020). I am more of a Spartacus, Rome, Game of thrones, or any other violent type of history based shows. I binged the whole show in 2 weeks. I still can't believe it got me hooked. It wasn't until I finished the show that I found out it was a major hit in Europe, and then in realized there was a movie too! Obviously I watched the whole 6 seasons and the movie in one sit 😂. By far the best show I've ever watched in 39 years. It will be another 39 years (if I live long enough) that another show of it's genre will get me again.
I love Downton Abbey I have rewatched the six seasons over and over and will watch it all again and again. Loved the movie and am waiting with bated breath for the new movie.
Their chemistry is astonishing ! They seem to get along really well and with a lot of sincerity. I actually began the video thinking "I'm just going to watch a little bit of this, since it's a 40 minutes long video" and ended up watching the whole thing with a big smile on my face. My parents introduced me to Downton Abbey, they watched it together and then they watched it a second time with me because they absolutely loved it and they wanted to show me this amazing/brilliant series. We had such a great time watching it, I loved each and every episode of the show and I appreciated how historically accurate it was. I will never foget those beautiful moments. The actors really seem to be down to earth and they seem to be pleasant people. Super happy that I discovered this masterpiece and I would recommend the show to every period drama lover !
The cinematography of DA the show was always fantastic, but seeing it get big budget movie treatment makes it shine all the more. Someone else here mentioned that they feel that DA is still very much in demand by viewers, and I certainly agree with that. In fact, I'd go a step further and say that DA is more popular and more in-demand now than it ever was during its original airing. I recently discovered and binged the whole series in a few weeks on netflix, and I am positively sure that I can't be the only one. I am glad that there is a new movie on the way now, but this franchise could easily last for several more seasons/serieses as a "TV show" and draw even more people in. It is like catching lightning in a bottle, and, like lightning, seemingly vanished as quickly as it arrived. I certainly don't want the show to have a "jumping the shark" moment if they continued with the series, but that seems terribly unlikely considering just how many characters there are and how many honest stories have yet to be told. If the original writers and cast can be brought back for another season or two, we all want so much more!!!

I am currently rewatching the series for the ???? time. I have seen the series at least 10 times. I want the Down Abbey series to go on like Star Trek movies and spinoff series. I still love watching Stark Trek. Both of these shows had GREAT character development where the actors became their characters.

Another comment. This series is so good, it needs to continue. The story line has progressed, now take us back to it's beginnings... The Dowager's childhood, Russian romance, marriage to the Duke and birth of their children at Downton. And definitely show us the story of Cora's marriage! We want more. Please, give it to us will you? Similar to the incredible Star Trek series!
Story lines r strong . As well as the characters. How they did WW1 was superb . Lady Sybul becoming a nurse and Downton Abbey being used as hospital where soldiers r recovering from injuries. Matthew and Lady Mary stoyline was great also . As well covering of Spanish flu. No other show can ever top Downton Abbey!!!.
These type of shows in my opinion only happen every ten or more years, telling my age but I felt the same with Upstairs Down stairs and 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice . There were some good shows in between but for me none like those I listed.
And the timing of the movie was perfect, because who would have known that Covid would have changed the world the way it has? I miss going to the movies!
I watch the show twice learn the phrase binge watching😂 it’s just brilliant! When series ended I was sad and then they started with the film I was elated again I watched it twice and I told everybody about it including teenagers at my work and I said everything about it is awesome the music the costumes the storyline the drama the wit the humor just perfect❤ It’s like you are transported in time and in the room especially the dinner scenes
It is so nice to see that Downton Abby uses real set pieces not blue screen ( or at least very little if any). After seeing other popular shows, I was disappointed by how little real locations were used in them. That said, thanks for all of the effort behind Downton Abbey.
When Michelle dockery started on the show, her accent was very much East End of London, cockney. She said she really had to “posh it up” to portray Lady Mary. She said she became so used to it that it stuck, she said the cockney only comes out when she’s with her family “or drunk.”
Downtown Abbey was such an amazing piece of TV Drama - period piece of work. The entire TEAM of Actors and Actresses were OUTSTANDING. BRILLIANT , STUPENDOUS, UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS. ~ the series had exquisite group of writers - the story lines never got boring, who ever wrote the script is brilliant ! The castl worked so well together, and as individuals, The actors role totally convinced me of what ever they were portraying - the chemistry among some characters was palpable ! I loved every episodes , every character , Each new season took us back into a new fashion season as well as its hair, make up, styles of the times they were portraying, It was such an extraordinary weekly TV series, I miss it dearly,
DH&I saw this movie at our local movie theatre when it came out, and bought the DVD of it. When I watched it for the 3rd or 4th time, I got a shock. In the ball scene, the actor who plays Mary, The Princess Royal, wore a replica of the Queen Mary tiara. In real life, HRH Princess Beatrice wore the real tiara at her wedding to Mr. Mapelli-Mozzi.
The TV show started in 1912. Fast forward 50 years later to 1962. Mary and Anna are being interviewed by the BBC "what it was like in the big houses then?". The point is that we would learn what happened to all the characters
I think it would be awesome if they had a ten-year reunion. The children could be ready to go to college like Eton for George and I don't know for the girls. That generation would be great to see.
My sisters & I love Downtown Abbey. It always makes us think of our grandparents. My maternal gparents were straight off the boat from England and my paternal gparents we heard all the stories from..lol. Apparently my Father's Mom, Nana, as we called her, was a dead ringer for 'Rose' in her hey day with Lucy's personality. Imagine!! But we've heard all the stories and now we can only wonder what it must have been like for our folks way back when.

Matthew and Lady Mary stoyline was great also . As well covering of Spanish flu. No other show can ever top Downton Abbey!!!.

These type of shows in my opinion only happen every ten or more years, telling my age but I felt the same with Upstairs Down stairs and 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice . There were some good shows in between but for me none like those I listed.

it’s just brilliant! When series ended I was sad and then they started with the film I was elated again I watched it twice and I told everybody about it including teenagers at my work and I said everything about it is awesome the music the costumes the storyline the drama the wit the humor just perfect❤
It’s like you are transported in time and in the room especially the dinner scenes
It is so nice to see that Downton Abby uses real set pieces not blue screen ( or at least very little if any). After seeing other popular shows, I was disappointed by how little real locations were used in them. That said, thanks for all of the effort behind Downton Abbey.

When Michelle dockery started on the show, her accent was very much East End of London, cockney.
She said she really had to “posh it up” to portray Lady Mary.
She said she became so used to it that it stuck, she said the cockney only comes out when she’s with her family “or drunk.”
Downtown Abbey was such an amazing piece of TV Drama - period piece of work.
The entire TEAM of Actors and Actresses were OUTSTANDING. BRILLIANT , STUPENDOUS, UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS. ~ the series had exquisite group of writers - the story lines never got boring, who ever wrote the script is brilliant !
The castl worked so well together, and as individuals, The actors role totally convinced me of what ever they were portraying - the chemistry among some characters was palpable ! I loved every episodes , every character , Each new season took us back into a new fashion season as well as its hair, make up, styles of the times they were portraying, It was such an extraordinary weekly TV series, I miss it dearly,

I watched entire series through pandemic lockdown
IMHO, one of the greatest TV shows ever. Certainly in my top 5.
DH&I saw this movie at our local movie theatre when it came out, and bought the DVD of it.
When I watched it for the 3rd or 4th time, I got a shock. In the ball scene, the actor who plays Mary, The Princess Royal, wore a replica of the Queen Mary tiara.
In real life, HRH Princess Beatrice wore the real tiara at her wedding to Mr. Mapelli-Mozzi.
I certainly want more Downton Abbey! I loved the series, and this movie! Thank you for sharing!

The TV show started in 1912. Fast forward 50 years later to 1962. Mary and Anna are being interviewed by the BBC "what it was like in the big houses then?". The point is that we would learn what happened to all the characters

Can we have a Downton movie every 4 years or so?? That's the beauty with this show, the cast can come and go, but the stories are always there.

I didn't even hear of Downton Abbey until it was revealed in one of the Ironman movie. Started watching and then caught up with the beginning.
I think it would be awesome if they had a ten-year reunion. The children could be ready to go to college like Eton for George and I don't know for the girls. That generation would be great to see.

My sisters & I love Downtown Abbey. It always makes us think of our grandparents. My maternal gparents were straight off the boat from England and my paternal gparents we heard all the stories from..lol. Apparently my Father's Mom, Nana, as we called her, was a dead ringer for 'Rose' in her hey day with Lucy's personality. Imagine!! But we've heard all the stories and now we can only wonder what it must have been like for our folks way back when.
