Wow. Time consuming for such a tiny thing to be fixed. I wonder how much a main dealer would charge .....and I bet he wouldn't clean it all up? Does the six quid replacement part seen any more robust than the one coming out?
The Leaf doesn't use a physical lever to push a part actuator - its just a button, so no. They don't suffer the same mechanical wear at the linkage. I've seen that other automatic Nissan ICE vehicles have the same rubber bush failure though.

I had this happen (While driving!) on an Insignia and the gear stick went all floppy and loose - It was so scary. 😊
