These chippers now come with a wider wheel stance for better stability. My machine is one year old but kept tipping over behind the ATV so I look forward to the update. Do these chippers have a second grease fitting under the belt guard? How often should it be greased, and how do we know when its full? It says in the manual to grease the rack and pinion but doesn't even show where to find it. Does a wood chipper even have rack and pinion? Useless.

Hey there. The chipper definitely could use some improvements, one being the wheel base. Glad to hear they are wider now. Mine too is about 1.5 years old now. It’s seen a lot of wood. I’ve had the belt cover off, no grease nipple there. I’ve just been greasing the one on the driveshaft. I pump 3-4 squirts of grease before every use. If it’s full, I get a little seepage come out of the bearing cover. The bearings inside the belt drive area are all greaseless on mine. Thanks for watching. ✌️

@@Northofsomething82 Thats odd. Mine does have a nipple on the shaft under the belt, and the machine sounds about the same age. Both with narrow wheels. Hopefully the belt-side bearing is okay because I did run it for at least 5 hours without adding grease. The belts themselves seem a bit loose, and I see some black belt dust around. Are belts adjustable somehow? Or just replace when they begin to slip too much?

The first thing I did was disconnect the safety shutoff system.

I’ve been back and forth on doing this as well. My two boys have helped me on jobs and I usually get them to drag brush and chip it. They are teenagers and maybe not as mindful as they should be sometime. I’ve kept the safety mechanism factory for this reason. I’ve stuck a felling wedge in between the mechanism and shoot before though when I’ve been operating it. That works too. ✌️

Good video. I think I’ll buy this unit. To raise your chipper on your truck, 4:1 or 5:1 set will work great, but set up your anchor point higher on you rack. Less friction, and better angle. Nice work.

The unit is impressive. I have many more hours in it since the video and I’m happy with the purchase. Thanks for the advice on the mechanical advantage. ✌️

I build woodchippers for living here in Ontario. I used to install 420cc gas engines before, different brands like Wangaard, Kohler, Ducar. They all have the same power 15hp. But no torq. unfortunately.
After while i switched to diesels.
Started with 500cc diesels. Now install only 660cc and 720cc diesels. They have torq and never bogs down. 5 inches trees going through easily.
Another disadvantage of that blue chipper. The intake hooper is too high. You will get exhausted too quickly. Especially when you chip larger branches.
