    Love this presentation! I have been playing around with alcohol inks for a couple years now. I never thought to put diluted ink in bottles, just mixed in a pallet and application was difficult before evaporation was effecting the color. Very complete, easy to follow, detail oriented tutorial. The layering went further than I have ever done, with fantastic impact. Thank you, thank you, for opening my eyes to further potential.

    Great tutorial, thank you so much for this. I've only tried using alcohol inks once, with not great results but then I didn't expect them on a first attempt, but I will persevere. The air cans are a fantastic idea, much better than a straw.

    Very nice use of the grays in the background of the flower. It really gives the final product more depth. To me, this is much more visually interesting than the alcohol ink flowers that are all over TH-cam and Pinterest that are just a mishmash of dominant color is over the top of each other. Also, great use of blending solution to soften the hard edges and darker pigments. Nice work!

      Thank you John for the encouragement and kind words. You really know that design and composition still have to play a vital roll in all types of art, even abstracts.

    • @johngo6283
      @johngo6283 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So true. But for some reason, in alcohol Art, erasing things and instantly creating something new right over the top of what you just did leads to some people, myself included sometimes, to just keep on squirting, spraying and blotting without really having any kind of final vision of what they want to do.

    • @wendykroeker6109

      There are endless ways to approach the creation of a painting. My approach has always been to plan before starting what I want to accomplish as you see in this video. Some artists don't plan anything and let the paint do the talking. If these artists are experienced, they will have learned to enjoy and accept this process and the results that the pigment has dictated. For beginners this can be a disaster, and they may feel a sense of failure. I am of the mindset, whether right or wrong, that the artist rules the paint and the image, yet allowing the pigment to have the freedom it needs to do what it's meant to do. Thus the term "Master Artist", which translates to, I am the master of my work.... not the paint. This is the beginning of a beautiful cooperative relationship between artist and paint.

      Wendy, a suggestion: Listing your materials like this is very helpful. However, if you put them as a comment on your own video, they can get covered up or move down the comment list buy more recent comments. However, if you put them in the description of your video, they will always stay at the top provided someone clicks on 'Show More". Consider copying pasting these into the actual description of your video so they are easier to find.

    • @wendykroeker6109
      @wendykroeker6109  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late reply. I don't believe alcohol are archival so you should spray them with krylon uv spray. First coat with a very light spray so as not to disturb your work. Let this set (10min.) Then spray a slightly heavier coat and then a third coat. You can use any type of spray gloss, medium or matt.

    Alcohol inks are wonderful, however, please wear a respirator mask for vapours as the isopropyl alcohol is extremely dangerous and if you are spraying you would be inhaling it and causing permanent damage to your airways and lungs, even with the mask it should all be done in a very well ventilated area.
