- ...okay you finally broke me down and I've given into the peer pressure and filmed a reacting to my Subscribers hamster cages. I had 119 emails to sort through and choose from so I am sorry fi your cage was not featured! I actually received a LOT of good cages so if you sent in a picture of your cage and it was over the bare minimum of 450 SQ inches of floor space then It most likely wasn't featured because I had nothing for you to add! I wanted to try and put as many cages as I could in the video where I had some feedback to give them!

i just got dwarf hamsters today and we got them a small standard cage but it literally gave me a panic attack bc it’s to small but my parents said it’s the right size.

Yall, like I wouldn’t have even submitted my cage if I knew that it wasn’t 450 square inches! 🤣🤣 She ALWAYS says “450 square inches minimum!” Our Syrian’s bin cage is 560 square inches & I still think it’s too small, but I can’t find any bigger bins & they just don’t make cages big enough! 🤣🤣

Thank you! It's always good to tell someone politely what they're doing wrong rather than be aggressive and angry. If you're aggressive towards someone about it they're less likely to want to even consider ed what you're saying.

4:14 there actually is more bedding. We didn't have the right sized piece of glass so we had to put a piece of wood in the front which makes it is that you can't see the bedding. But when I was setting up the cage I did overestimate the amount of bedding I had. I also am planning on getting a bigger sandbath, the dish was just temporary. Anyways, thank you for your feedback and I will make sure to give my hamsters the proper care. 🐹💜🌿💕

Ellie L. Well I just cleaned his cage and half of his cage has 8 inches of bedding and half has around 5 inches where his wheel, food dish, water dish, and a few toys are.

You can get a 105 qt plastic bin cage, and diy it for around $20 at stores like Big lots of something

“A hamsters cage really isn’t just a cage- it’s there hole world, and us humans need to remember that.”
People saying “what if people don’t have the money” need to stop.
1)If you research beforehand, and learn you can’t afford the animal don’t get it. Period.
2) If you learn after you got the pet either find a way or rehome your pet. Bin cages are dirt cheap.
3) If you later find yourself in a situation where you don’t have the money,
A) You should have the proper stuff before that, aside from reoccurring costs.
B)Find a way, or rehome your pet.
4) If you can’t afford to properly take care of a pet you certainly can’t afford vet bills.
Not having money isn’t an excuse. That pet depends on you to give them what they need. It’s your responsibility to give them what they need.
Originally I had the funds, and I saved up for the hamster myself, she reviewed the cage I used for the hamster, and actually managed to get a large wheel for my winter white, it wasn’t a silent spinner, so it was annoying, but anyway, it was my first pet, and I had educated myself as much as a 9/10 year old could about the topic. They lived past their average life span, and had everything they needed. I don’t think it is fair to make assumptions.. I was young and managed to completely support my hamster, and such, I wasn’t very educated at the start, but became more as I grew. In all while it was most likely dumb for such a small child to get a pet, everyone learns somewhere, and they taught me responsibility. I think if a parent knows their child can’t handle having a pet, don’t get it, but it’s just like having a cat or dog, they require time love and care. Hamsters aren’t just for adults, they can be used to help mature children (given the parents are making sure the hamster isn’t being mistreated). Okay bye :)
oh- forgot to mention I bought two- at the same time- they had separate cages so I wasn’t killing them 😅

Dude meh mom literally was just given a Syrian hamster from her client because another hamster she had died because her kids would not take care of it and they had very small cages and I had moved her into a bigger space and I tried to convince my mom we needed more but she wouldn't budge

Before leaving a negative comment please remember that this channel is for hamster owners. The people who sent in these cages are trying to educate themselves. Although they may not have the best cage right now, they're doing their best to improve the lives of their fur kids

If you sent in your cage and it’s above the minimum and pretty well set up and it wasn’t shown in the video it’s probably because I had nothing to add to it!! If your cage wasn’t featured please don’t be upset at me you’d be in the same position if you had to look through 119 cage setups. & yes multiple things were repeated but it was clear they had to be repeated.

Half these hamsters probably belong to 10-year-olds who are at the mercy of their parents what kind of cages and supplies they can buy for their hamster. A mom isn't going to want to spend 100s of dollars on something the kid might lose interest in a few months, only hamster enthusiasts will do that. I've heard all this talk that bin cages are cheap but the large ones are quite expensive, plus you need the tools and extras to put it together, so get tired of hearing that

Tltr: The hamster always jumps onto the wheel and then jumps off it onto the bedding
My hamster really likes jumping more than climbing,we recently got a super big wheel of Ebay because the one we bought with the cage was too small for her. We have a really big cage (floor space and height) and the wheel goes up to the 2nd floor so my hamster usually climbs on it and then jumps off the wheel, when I'm sleeping I constantly hear my hamster just jumping off it and onto the bedding.

I think it would be really good if you could put together a compilation of the really great cages that got sent in, which meet all of the requirements just to like show people what can be achieved and also give people wanting to upgrade or even just improve their cage layout some ideas on how to do it. Probably a lot of work though :/

The cage of a Syrian hamster (the most common pet hamster), should be at least 288 square inches in size (24 inches long by 12 inches wide).

@ItsBree it means your hamster is bored and/or stressed. You need to give it more room, bedding, toys, hideouts and other things to do. It is not normal for hamsters to climb on their roofs.

Hamsters are stereotypically cheap which they’re not. If you want to own a hamster you should be prepared for the cost as they are a little high maintenance. And it’s not ‘sad’, that we like to give a good life to our pets :)

I’ve been binge watching hamster related videos recently because I’ve just been deciding if Im ready to get another hamster. My last hamster unexpectedly passed away a few months ago because he had an internal tumor (there were no external signs or anything, I always did weekly health checkups) and he hid his symptoms very well, so we were unable to help him when he needed it. After watching your videos, I think I’m ready to get another one. I just have a big tank sitting in my living room and a bunch of hamster unopened toys. It makes me so sad to see it empty! Thanks for making great videos, keep it up!

Hey Victoria, you’re truly one of the most amazing pet owners in the world. You’ve changed so many lives of hamsters and you’ve reached so many. You’ve educated so many kids and even adults such as myself to provide better care for their hammies. If I had never discovered your channel, I would have gotten a hamster and given him a little cage that’s less than the bare minimum. Because of you, my little hammy (a winter white) lives in a 650sq inches tank, with the right wheel, deep bedding, many hides, sooo many toys, as well as a well balanced diet. Thank you so much. I am truly happy with my little baby. And hopefully, he is as happy as can be. I do plan on getting a detolf cage in the future. There are no Ikeas around where I live, and ordering one will cost me $175 because of shipping. I may just save up to get one to be honest.

I used to think it was cute when my hamsters would do monkey bars in their cages, but now that I am more informed, I get upset when they do monkey bars because it means they are bored or stressed 😬 I plan to make a bin cage ASAP! I want my hamsters to live happy lives in a comfortable home for them!❤️ I wish the pet store didn’t tell my parents that small cages are fine because the hamsters lived in small cages for far too long!
People shouldn’t get offended because no body is perfect and they might have stuff to improve

It’s honestly kind of sad that some people who have subscribed to you, an advocate for ALL proper hamster care, have really small hamster cages as well as questionable care. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to be mean, it just kind of surprises me as to some of these people’s care especially if they watch your care videos! However everyone makes mistakes, and there’s always room and time to fix it!! ❤️ Love you Victoria, keep up the great videos!
It does make me a bit sad, But some people don't understand how to calculate floorspace or they may have some stubborn parents so I try my best to help as much as I can.

Our hamster has 4 cages connected by
Tubes and a climb hide out. He loves it...he runs everywhere at night. Once a week we take him out to run around the room and my kids make obstacles an obstacle course for him with plastic large blocks and I can tell he is so happy.

Another great video, thanks! The more I watch your videos the more I realize I still have a lot to learn about hamster care. I wasn't aware of back issues with spinners that are too small, so the first thing I did after watching this was get rid of my 4.5 inch silent spinner and replaced it with a 6.5 inch. I have a dwarf hamster so the 6.5 seems perfect
This just makes me sad about the hamsters i used to have when i was younger. They were the best little babies but the cage was probably too small. Rip Hearts and Rapidly💓🥺

I’m pretty surprised to be honest. I thought that anyone who watches your videos would have at least the 450sq inches. I honestly was expecting a lot of detolfs and was hoping for some cage inspiration for my enclose 😅 I’d love another cage review video though or a “hamster inspo” would be fun too

Ok the cage at 12:23 is TERRIBLE. not only is the cage itself TINY and way under minimum... but it looks like there is a divider in the centre of the cage??? Also two food bowls, one on each side to house another syrian in it?? Yikes. Also not enough bedding as mentioned but also no chews and not enough hides 😳😳😳 that poor hamster (or hamsters) ☹️

My Cage is an Ikea detolf for a sirian hamster with 10 inch if kaytee clean and cozy . It has only natural toys like Cork logs or Apple sticks. The wheel is 12inch and I have a water dish like bumble ir honey

Listen. Lots of people are defending people who have small cages by saying "they might not have money to upgrade" But if you don't have the money you shouldn't have the pet. It's really simple it's not fair to have a pet if you don't have the ability to give them a happy life

When we got the hamster my mum bought a nice cage with these attachements and it cost a lot of money but I just found out that it’s not big enough so I’m going to try and convince her to buy a bin and sell the hamster cage

Ok I know this video is old, and no one would really see this comment... But the first cage doesn't have anywhere near enough bedding. You can literally see some of the floor in the middle, and if you look at the sides, there's literally NO bedding. There's not even enough bedding to cover the floor. They need to put more bedding, and they have no excuse, because the blue bin is tall and there's plenty more space for more bedding

8:01 those aren’t DIY glass platforms i recently bought something just a little smaller for my mice at my local pet store I live in the UK. It looks the exact same and the platforms are placed in the exact same places in the exacts same way
