Hey Victoria I know that this is random but my sweet little hammy Muffin passed away last night. I went to fill up his water bottle and I found him laying down in the front of his tunnel. He usually sleeps out of sight to stay warm so I immediately knew there was something wrong. I took him out of the tunnel and wrapped him in his blanket ( the same blanket I used while taming).but he wasn't moving.he gasping for air but there really wasn't much that I could do. It was 10 pm and all the vets were closed. So I just held him in my hand close to my chest until the gasps stopped. I love him sooo much and I miss him sooo much . Muffin was my first hamster ever . He was at least a year and 4 months old but I'm not sure because he was adopted.I'm devastated and I really don't know what to do. Luv u❤️🐹😢😰

The same happened to my amazing hamster chewi, he was quite old and he was ill all of Friday night and I took him to the vet on Saturday, and they put him down. I’m happy he’s in a better place now but I miss him so much, I also feel bad thinking about getting another hamster in a few weeks, it might seem like I’m replacing him and I really don’t want that because I loved him so much 💗💗

I have a Russian dwarf hamster and he’s in a tiny tales cage. Thanks to you I’m getting a 40 gallon tank tomorrow for him and a lot more stuff. I’m really glad you could help me! Thank you!
The more bedding the better :) however you should stick to a minimum of 5 to 6 inches of clear spcae for your hamster to dig in.Remember you do not need this amount of bedding all around the cage just so long as you provide a decently sized side of the cage for this minimum level as cover the rest of the floor by 2 or 3 inches.
Sadly my hamster died a week ago. 😢 I really miss her. Her name was Rarity. She was a golden-brown fur color and she was 1 1/2 and she was so cute and sweet. I want another hamster but my parents won't let me get one. 😢 I miss Rarity.
I'm really sorry for your loss. My hamster died from tumors. I loved him do much, his name was hammy. He would sleep in my pocket for hours. He was like a dog, licked me on my hands. I miss him, I had a real connection. He was 3 years old almost 4

I’m getting my hamster in about two and a half weeks and the more I watch I just get more excited and the more I feel like I could make such a better home for them than these cages lmao
At least they are asking for criticism to do better. 😐 Everyone starts somewhere and getting it ALL right the first time is overwhelming. Pet stores sell so many lies to customers with information and products. Go volunteer at an animal shelter with hamsters. Those poor babies get tiny bare cages.
@@kayleighquinn6721 to tell everybody to stop gaining up on people who are trying to learn. There are young teens watching who's parents don't believe them that need proof, there are people in eastern Asia and other countries that are far behind on info. Do you think you would take comments like your own to do better if someone said them to you?
@@andrielisilien I have not had any experience with hamsters before, and before I got my 1st one I made sure to do my own research rather than listen to the pet store. And yes, I would listen if people told me to improve, because I would do anything to make my hamsters life better. And, you don't need to do any research to just tell by looking at the size of a cage compared to the hamster that its too small. Same with wheels.
Acrylics ik im late but i agree with Andrielisilen as someone WHO live in Asia hamster care is so way back. 20 hamster live in one 1 galon tank . And hamster Stuff is a Pain to get cause it expensive and hard to find. But i still have a hamster and ik my cage is only 210 Inch but thats the best i can do. I give them some toy and take them out.
9:05 Bear in mind even if you do have 4 inches of bedding there needs to be space for your hamster to burrow in this bedding and you should have 5 to 6 inches of bedding in a space which is not cluttered in a large amount of things which is dedicated for burrowing.
When I got my first Syrian hamster I actually had the first cage shown in the video. After I had watched a few videos from Victoria Reachel I up-sized to the IKEA Detolf. My hamster was much much happier and she very rarely had stress. I also had a 6 inch wheel for my hamster but i up-sized again on an 11 inch wheel. I added toys in her cage and lots more fluff. I felt a lot better about the cage!
Thanks so much for making this video. My Syrian has a Metro Hamster Haven and it's connected to a smaller metro cage with a tube as well as to a Ferplast 'hamster lab'. I thought she had it all and I really want her to be happy, but I've now learnt that she needs more bedding. Also on one of these I saw a wooden paper organiser thingies in the cage and that is such a cool idea to add as a platform and a hideout. Thank you!
@@wowzerswoow Hi Clara, thanks for the advise :) as I said the bigger cage is the Metro Hamster Haven. You're probably not familiar with it but it's one of the largest cages available in pet shops in my country. It's 80 x 50 x 80 cm - not sure what that makes inch-wise but it's certainly big enough. The hamster loves it. The connected cage is much smaller, it's more like an attic space :)
I love your positive feed back. For a first time mother of a hamster you make it so helpful with your videos. You make it very easy for me to understand what is good for my hamster.
When I was four, my mother had a 700 inch wire cage with 7 inches of bedding, and probably 50 feet of tubing leading to other cages and tow areas. It took up a room and a half.
I used to have that little tiny blue cage. But after getting the correct information from people online, my hamster now has a huge two story bird cage and is much happier :). Thank you for educating people!
Thank you for actually featuring bad and good cages as well as giving constructive feedback and how to improve (if they need to) I'm so sick of people that only show their followers good cages, people can't learn unless they're personally told and given real life examples
5:31 I do believe that 6 inches of bedding like Victoria mentioned should be put in a section with a hide and some tubes to encourage burrowing and then 2 inches on the other end to put a large wheel,food//water bowls, water bottles and toys for stimulation and chewing and hopefully a different type of bedding and rocks however that cage in the picture does have many great qualities but needs a little improvement :).
I hate how some people watch your videos and still don't give their hamster the care they need. It just shows that they know what they're doing is wrong but they still do it anyway.

Also I bought the hamster, I buy her food, bought her toys, bought her cage, bought her bedding the least they could do is buy me a new cage for her to help. How do I change there mind
The Putman Twins if you have purchased everything so far, they probably want to see you taking 100% responsibility and don’t want it to be theirs. you will just need to keep saving you money and i suggest making a bin cage for your hamster because they are much more affordable and offer a lot more floor space. mine has 570 sq in and the bin was about $10 at walmart. they also allow you to put more bedding in so i think that might be a good option for you to save for

Im the same with my mice, theyre with 2 in a 1m-50cm-40cm tank, which is huge for them, and I want to still upgrade them at some point!
@@llamalady are you saying that you have only two mice or what?
pikkunormi That wasn’t the point of their comment. Scroll on.
vvrow1 0 1 can i ask u can your hamster climb out of the ikea detox
I totally feel that. I have my dwarf in a Christmas tree storage bin cage, around 806 square inches, but I wish I could give her so much more!
Tip for people that need to upgrade cages but have a tight budget. The biggest IKEA samla bin is 660 sq inches and can fit alot of bedding. I have it and used if for my dwarf:)
You have a hamster daisy? HOw cOme it’s not on your channel
Ooooooooh thanks!!!
But how expensive is it 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Ugh, I just hate it when people don't add AT LEAST 5-6 inches of bedding. They normaly have a good cage, but not enough bedding. ;c
Your hamster looks just like mine. I love gray Syrians 🐹
SapphirePipin hey can u help me,, I have extremely bad math knowledge and I’m not sure how big that is I can’t do numbers st all😭

@@scarlett4022 5 inches is 12.7 cm of bedding 💞

Of course! All you have to do, is to get your measurer, and count to inches. The way you can tell where the inches are, is to look at the VERY top! That's how. :)
I feel like that Gordan Ramsey meme "Finally some good f-ing food!" 😂 People actually listened to her tips lol.
New Drinking Game:
Emty your glass every time Victoria says "MORE BEDDING"
Luv u❤️🐹😢😰
Omg I'm sorry :( muffin is somewhere better though
Abby Draws Stuff thank you so much , that means a lot to me. I have to keep reminding myself that he's in a better place. Also I was just missing him a couple minutes ago, so what you said really means a lot. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
@@kierawb aww your welcome :) I know the devastating feeling, since no pet can be replaced. But luckily after a few weeks you will start to feel way better and move on but muffin will always be in your heart
The same happened to my amazing hamster chewi, he was quite old and he was ill all of Friday night and I took him to the vet on Saturday, and they put him down. I’m happy he’s in a better place now but I miss him so much, I also feel bad thinking about getting another hamster in a few weeks, it might seem like I’m replacing him and I really don’t want that because I loved him so much 💗💗
Esther Raeburn I'm so sorry about chewi 😢 I understand exactly how you feel . Losing a pet is always so hard because they were like family. Chewi sounds like he was an awesome hamster😊 And thinking of filling in the emptiness by getting another hamster is almost just as hard. But I'm sure that chewi is now an angel looking over you for the life that you've given him and I'm sure he'll be happy to see you happy again even if that means you were to get another hammy. Now Chewi and Muffin can be friends up in hamster heaven😇😇.Ily and I hope you feel better soon .Thank you for sharing with me , you're not alone❤️🐹❤️🐹
I have a Russian dwarf hamster and he’s in a tiny tales cage. Thanks to you I’m getting a 40 gallon tank tomorrow for him and a lot more stuff. I’m really glad you could help me! Thank you!
That is awesome!
bedding 23 inches high. Victoria: MORE BEDDING!!!!!! 😆😆😆😂
Camerstars :D wow your really fun!

Sadly my hamster died a week ago. 😢 I really miss her. Her name was Rarity. She was a golden-brown fur color and she was 1 1/2 and she was so cute and sweet. I want another hamster but my parents won't let me get one. 😢 I miss Rarity.
Sorry for your loss :(.
I'm really sorry for your loss. My hamster died from tumors. I loved him do much, his name was hammy. He would sleep in my pocket for hours. He was like a dog, licked me on my hands. I miss him, I had a real connection. He was 3 years old almost 4
Thats why i have 3 rats and 2 of them are only a few days apart but my older boy will probably only live for another year n a half... So id be left with the babies
Aww I’m sorry😢 And I really like her name🙃🌸❤️

My hamster broke her foot on a silent spinner wheel so from personal experience I don’t trust them any more
Lucy Dollery but remember that isn’t an excuse not to have a proper wheel (not saying you don’t or anything like that)
@@AgitatedGhost im not trying to be rude but your comment is irrelevant to me, I am in no way shape or form saying I don't have a proper wheel, remember silent spinners arnt the only good wheels out there...anyways I only stated this comment as she broke her foot and suffered with a disability and her life was shortened after the incident, this is just spreading the word that it is possible for your hamster to get hurt in such a 'great' wheel-yet again I'm not trying to change others views either.
Lucy Dollery I wasn’t trying to be rude at all that wasn’t my intention

it must be endlessly frustrating to advocate for proper care and receive so many pictures of hamster being cared for badly. you're doing great work and show so much patience in giving kind advice to people, hopefully more of your subscribers will listen to it
It can be! But it's something that really needs to be done and I'll never give up advocating for this small but precious creatures!
What I love about your videos is how honest and passionate you are. Just your voice when you describe the animals is so full of love.
One time i wanted a hamster my dad wanted to buy a plastic one with 3 stories i watched your videos and other ones i was like: NOOO he was like: Its amazing
I still don't have a hamster
13:41 OMG!! you've inspired me! I love your hamsters home ❤️🌻
I used to keep my hamster in a small cage, which the woman at the pet store told me was the best for her, which I feel horrible about now. After watching these videos from you I've upgraded her cage to a Savic hamster sky cage, and I've given her a bigger wheel, and more bedding. I couldn't thank you enough for these videos. She's so much happier now. Thank you for educating people on how to take care of hamsters more.
I'm glad you were able to upgrade her cage! Thank you!
I’ve been waiting for this for ages 😽💕
i've been thinking about getting a hamster and i just want to say a big thank you to you because you've really given me some insight. like, i was going to buy the pet store cages but now, i'm opting for a large bin cage. the diet, i am putting more thought in and i feel so much more confident in buying myself a pet. so thanks!
Really happy my videos have been able to help!
I wish i could have seen this video sooner. My first (syrian) hamster, Theo lived in that exact first cage. I tried to tell my parents he needed more room but they told me it was fine. Thanks for all you do Victoria! if it wasn’t for you my current ham wouldn’t be in his 670 sq inch bin cage :)
Yess another one! I enjoyed the first one, I’m loving this one even more
Thank you Leah!

You do this really well. I love how even when the cages are actually dreadful you give advice in a way someone will listen to you rather than just tell them it's horrendous.
Thank you!
I’m getting my hamster in about two and a half weeks and the more I watch I just get more excited and the more I feel like I could make such a better home for them than these cages lmao
It still amazes me how many people send in pictures of TINY cages and they watch ur channel x
At least they are asking for criticism to do better. 😐 Everyone starts somewhere and getting it ALL right the first time is overwhelming. Pet stores sell so many lies to customers with information and products. Go volunteer at an animal shelter with hamsters. Those poor babies get tiny bare cages.
@@andrielisilien Why are you copy pasting comments lmao. If they watch victoria they should of got a suitable cage in the first place.
@@kayleighquinn6721 to tell everybody to stop gaining up on people who are trying to learn. There are young teens watching who's parents don't believe them that need proof, there are people in eastern Asia and other countries that are far behind on info. Pet stores give out false information that customers take as proper care without knowing better. You think everyone has had the experience and exposure you've had.
I love how positive you are! ❤️
Thank you! It's always better to be positive!
Since I need to stay hydrated I took a sip of water every time you said “450 square inches is the bare minimum” 😅
Hahahhh lol
When I got my first Syrian hamster I actually had the first cage shown in the video. After I had watched a few videos from Victoria Reachel I up-sized to the IKEA Detolf. My hamster was much much happier and she very rarely had stress. I also had a 6 inch wheel for my hamster but i up-sized again on an 11 inch wheel. I added toys in her cage and lots more fluff. I felt a lot better about the cage!
I love this video so much! please do a part 3! I really want to know if my cages are right. do I email my pictures
Omg i loove the ending part cages,, soo many amazing cages
It warmed my heart 💕💕
Thanks so much for making this video. My Syrian has a Metro Hamster Haven and it's connected to a smaller metro cage with a tube as well as to a Ferplast 'hamster lab'. I thought she had it all and I really want her to be happy, but I've now learnt that she needs more bedding. Also on one of these I saw a wooden paper organiser thingies in the cage and that is such a cool idea to add as a platform and a hideout. Thank you!
A connected cage doesn’t count as the right floor space unless one of the cages is Atleast 450sq inches as it doesn’t count as undisrupted floorspace
I knew I woke up early for a reason

Thank you! I know people would probably enjoy that but I do get tired of filming the same thing over and over and it does end up becoming repetitive
You are one of my favorite TH-camrs!💛😘
Thank you!
When I was four, my mother had a 700 inch wire cage with 7 inches of bedding, and probably 50 feet of tubing leading to other cages and tow areas. It took up a room and a half.

My syrians: *goes to my bed and takes thungs to make the space smaller*

Please do part 3! I will send you my cage! Today I’m actually switching his theme to a natural theme
I used to have that little tiny blue cage. But after getting the correct information from people online, my hamster now has a huge two story bird cage and is much happier :). Thank you for educating people!
That's great you upgraded!
My hamster just piles her bedding behind everything that’s pressed against the wall!
Victoria I’ve been waiting for this video 😀 it was so worth it! Like if Victoria has helped us with our hamsters I know she has for me😃
Thank you!
Your welcome!
Thank you for actually featuring bad and good cages as well as giving constructive feedback and how to improve (if they need to) I'm so sick of people that only show their followers good cages, people can't learn unless they're personally told and given real life examples
Thank you!
When I finish my bin cage I'm drawing a line at 10 inches so I know how much bedding at least to add Xx
Great video I am playing with my robo hamster right now
5:31 I do believe that 6 inches of bedding like Victoria mentioned should be put in a section with a hide and some tubes to encourage burrowing and then 2 inches on the other end to put a large wheel,food//water bowls, water bottles and toys for stimulation and chewing and hopefully a different type of bedding and rocks however that cage in the picture does have many great qualities but needs a little improvement :).
I hate how some people watch your videos and still don't give their hamster the care they need. It just shows that they know what they're doing is wrong but they still do it anyway.
Well true but maybe they just don’t have enough money
True, but that's no excuse. If they don't have enough money to care for a hamster, they shouldn't get a hamster in the first place.
UXVlc3Rpeb24 gTWFyaw exactly and then you have some ppl saying “oh I don’t have enough money or space to upgrade”, it’s like why’d you get it in the first place?!?! 😂😂 sorry ab that

I have a big another space but my hamster doesn’t really borough I will try to add more bedding but I have to go back to the store
Some hamsters won't burrow because they're not given enough bedding to burrow in. They're also more likely to burrow where their nest/house is.
thank you victoria for all the information and awesome videos, I have watched them all as we are getting some dwarf hamsters in a week and I knew nothing about hamster care, and what I did know was wrong! I now have a 115 liter bin cage with 6 inches of bedding and a 8 inch wheel, plenty of chews hides and a sand bath :) thanks again !!
So my cage is only 228 sq inch I have a winter white dwarf hamster. It’s a tiny tail cage too so it sucks and I told my parents this and they won’t listen to me.
