And with the sheer number of incidents of bad media attention and now, thanks to Andrew, accusations of illegality in their dealings coming from an educated analyst? Yeah, they ain't gonna leave the bottom bracket anytime soon. I know I'd be almost panic-dumping any stocks I could possibly have in IchiKara so as to not be called in during an audit.
Is Elira waiting for all the backlash from that stream to die down or trying not to be as active until any opportunity to leave the company shows up? Remember people, always have a lawyer read contracts before you agree to them. Nijisanji had a terribly illegal contract that these people are stuck with until the contract runs out.
At this point, it might be a bit extreme, but they should just get a lawyer and escape with being terminated. Yeah it will affect their resume negatively and Anycolor will take almost if not all their money they earned during the time. However at least they will be able to find a new job that is likely much better, even if terrible.

As someone who has actively been studying Japanese, the variety show bits on Nijisanji JP's channel were really fun to watch. But, now they give off the impression of: "Play these party games, and be silly - or you can't go home." Very unfortunate.
This may be a speculation, but I feel like EN livers lately having more collabs with JP side might be a prelude to the EN branch being folded into the JP branch

That would be their dumbest decision on a Lose-Lose situation for them (Though their track record makes them picking the worst of the two still a very valid possibility).
JP Vtuber market is saturated completely, and the current trend on EN markets is a slowdown of growth. Any company with some foresight is already shoring up a stable base in EN so as to have a Safezone established in exploring that market. KusoSanji pulping out of EN will UPSET the investors more (Because they were told by KusoSanji themselves the future of growth was venturing into International Markets, guess what folding everything back into their National only field would mean), worsening the stock drops, perhaps to the point they get Delisted outright.
So they will have to suck up the bad PR image they brought on themselves and at least PUT SOME GOOD EFFORT AND MONEY to clean and inprove their tarnished image, leading to a massive lag conoared to Hololive, VShojo and Phase, all whom will get an edge with their established bases and plans of expansion. The Vtuber Market internationally is past the point where just reckless full speed ahead expansion works, at best you find some gems and points to establish a hold, at worst, you burn way more money and Livers for no gain at all.

The way I look at it the earlier you join nijisanji the better like look at luxium and noctyx and once upon a time selen being the biggest en female liver. Nijisanji en literally peaked at iluna there not reaching 80k viewers watching a debut stream again and easily reaching or close to reaching 100k like iluna did after debut. Hololive literally in auditions unlike nijisanji they can guarantee 200k or 300k of subscribers if youtube doesn't cut it and when superchats are unlocked your chat will be full of rainbows. Look at calli and Kiara the first month they joined hololive en they lives gotten so much better than it once was and calli ain't waste no time moving samething with fuwamoco with hololive they can finally live out there dream living in Japan.

Having dealt with someone going through the same ordeal, proper medication can indeed help. Provided people will stop harassing her during that time. The thing with pshychological disorders is that those who suffer dont process things the way we expect them to.
Let's say for example that we are sitting next to each other. My phone gets a notification and you out of habbit look at it. You'd expect me to not think anything of it, but i could very well be thinking "hey why are they looking at my phone? Are they trying to steal my info? Are they curious about what im doing? Are they targeting me and want to use every little thing against me??"

Niji's new talent not selling well financially isn't surprising, they are barely pushed and do not have enough support behind them. I barely know when Niji announces new livers, but I always know about new Hololife livers because they are pushed and supported. Hell, Mococo and Fuwawa are now some of my favorite livers.
Other than that, each gen debut gap, especially EN side, is too narrow. Niji don't let fans familiarize themselves with the previous gen and yet they push another gen out. No wonder some of EN newest members cannot pass 1k viewers on average stream.
Krisis not having a debut song is kind of understandable since it probably already had that fourth member in so they had to axe it, but TTT not only didn't have a debut song but they don't even have an official unit name. My understanding is that "TTT" is just an informal title that was made up. It really does seem like they're getting into a "just get them out the door" philosophy. Which obviously isn't productive.
Not only are the debuts not doing well but also the fact that if people are taking the leap to STOP supporting livers even if they were their oshis... They aren't gonna support a new talent either

The financial impacts from the Selen debacle (and the graduations of both Pomu and Kyo) still haven't been written in the quarterly report, neither in Japan nor internationally, and it's gonna be a glorious gong show when it does.

@@chrisvighagen According to Trading Rules of Domestic Stocks on JPX, there is something called a "Daily Price Limit" which limits how much a stock price can fluctuate.
Because Anycolor closed at 3140 yesterday, their limit is 700. If it closes below 3000 today, the new limit will be 500. If it drops below 2000, their new limit will be 400.
Not aware of daily trading limit rules... if it hit the max each day consecutively. How far could it potentially drop per day next week?

Considering how nebulous Nijisanji's listing is (most are just listed as "business" relative to Cover's more detailed numbers) it's likely that the workload is even higher. I think it also needs to be said that over a quarter of Cover's sales costs go to performer renumeration, while Nijisanji goes out of their way to keep everything as vague as possible with "Direct Variable Costs."
To put simply, working for nijisanji is hell, especially if you aren't a talent.

2. Niji EN's talents (or at least some of them) more or less had to run their own branch in order to get anything done, lending some validity to the theory that the branch was controlled by a clique.

I genuinely don't get the boycott thing. Like, *all* of the livers stream on either Twitch (owned by Amazon) or TH-cam (owned by Google). Both of these are boycott targets. That is, the boycott understands they're too big to reasonably avoid completely so that isn't expected and instead people are being told to minimize support. Something like that. I don't entirely know what "pressure" entails, only that it's specifically separated from the other companies on the list.

You can still try to boycott really large companies, just that it'd take a whole lot more coordination/organization to do so -- such as needing to find alternatives that all of those people can start using instead, or listing all of the things that you would need to avoid to boycott that company properly
Nestle is a prime example of a large company that has been a target of boycotts -- for decades. It just... doesn't end well, since nobody can remember the giant multitude of products they have unless they check every single time, and they buy out other places as well so your options get more and more limited. Also another thing of a lot of their products being some of the cheapest for their particular market, so that makes it difficult for people who need to find alternatives except they are broke. People still list them as a boycott target, it's just that we're more or less given up on trying. Not sure of the current state of these things and whether or not the situation has changed for Nestle, but I sorta doubt it
I would assume the 'organic' boycott is the one where you sorta pick and choose whether to participate or not. Pressure target is a consideration for boycotting, but only if things don't work out in terms of negotiation -- such as negotiations to keep the out of meddling in the mess. I don't know what Google's involvement with any of this is. For all I know, they might be pressure targets to try to get them to spread the word of the issues or to do something about the mess. I'm probably being a bit optimistic on this assessment though
Anycolor painted themselves into a corner with this stock fiasco and Selen's termination. Either:
A) They were very wrong, Selen was a very important loss, and they're forced to admit to their fuck up

B) They pretend Selen wasn't an influence, and admit the bramch was dying already and still have to admit their fuck ups

It's been strange to me because supposedly everyone up through Noctyx was going to appear in 3D for AR Live, which implies they already have working models and just aren't using them. Livers have been to Japan, so they've had the capability, it seems like they just... haven't.

It was honestly probably both. They were both very wrong on Selen's influence and the branch was probably already dying to some degree. Unfortunately, I don't have the numbers, so those are only assumptions until someone can offer more concrete evidence outside of the visible management issues (eg. Financials) [for the EN branch* -- not sure if what was shown was just JP branch of the entire company as a whole, but if it's as a whole... there should be the evidence on EN branch somewhere in there]

I'm not speaking in defense of niji, but in general as an entity that essentially works in content creation, the best tried and true strategy is to just keep making content and basically not address the issues, at least not publically. This is why the black screen video was such a massive misstep, the other liver hit piece videos when zaion got terminated was also a terrible idea, or even that ceo apology video.
As far as I'm concerned I'm happy if they keep doing these dumb moves, but keep in mind most of this controversy came about because a bunch of livers stopped their service (ie. Stopped production of content) and niji couldn't keep their mouth shut (ie. Creating hit piece videos on selen and zaion as well as other posts telling on themselves). This is how lolcows are made.

It's been a week since the news broke on Akira Toriyama's passing and it still hurts.
If dropping 15% and nijisanji en dropping 40% year over year does not make you think we need to make changes idk what will. Also this proves what I've been saying nijisanji en is not that big they just as much as getting dropped by nijisanji like the KR and ID branch.
tbf, the EN branch (like all of the others outside of JP) was more of a strategic investment than anything. Ultimately, Japan is a rather finite market; it's where they're getting most of their profit, but it's got a relatively low ceiling for growth. Getting a foothold in foreign markets is basically essential to ensure that the company doesn't start struggling 5-10 years down the line (if not sooner). It's also important for them to remain in competition with other companies (such as Cover) that are eyeing the same markets.
With all of that in mind, it's funny to think that Selen's termination and the whole scandal around it probably *is* negligible as far as its impact on short-term profits, BUT, it's a very bad (and potentially catastrophic) thing for the company's long-term prospects. Which is (I imagine) a fair part of why the share price is tumbling, as that's one of the main things that investors look at.
Well, believe it or not, Niji ID had a better future & fanbase here since gen 1. Our management & financial progress are also better. We even had our several unique programs, like "Nijisore" (sore means dusk) - a special program that accompany ID lovers for a whole month during Ramadhan; "Ringkasanji" - a news program that sharing news from Nijisanji ID & gives a spotlight to ID clippers; and some other local programs.
That was the good old days, until ID & KR branches were merged into japan. That day changes Nijisanji ID forever, until now.😔

@FalseEyeD you got it wrong on waiting for next quarter to see the Salen impact. The impact will be on the Q1 2024 report as the true blow up happened in January and we only had a hint of problems at the end of December.

These 15% aren't exactly uncommon for a company not reaching it's forecasts and a division a -40% YoY. The thing is, they still grew, because of the asian/non-EN branch. And this branch is multiple times bigger and it showed resilience. Even with a scandal, that branch doesn't do bad, it just continues to grow. So, I think, many investors will look at this and buy the dip. It won't continue going downhill. And sadly, the stock price going down in such percentages, doesn't directly hurt them in any meaningful way (afaik).
I chalk it up to more effective media control in their home country.
