My hifi gear is mid range all the way, I can't justify the expensive stuff because I know I won't hear the difference, and avoid the cheap stuff, well, you've covered the reasons perfectly. I mostly collect records for the physical perspective: enjoying the cover art, the cool coloured vinyls, the act of taking the record and playing it. Plus it is a good way to support artists, at least the indi stuff.

Hi. I got a sansui ba-1000 amp 3 days ago. after cleanning contacts and fine tuning idle current, it works really well. I have yamaha b1 to compare with, it sounds as smooth if not better. At first it lacks bass impact i am disappointed, but after half a day burning in, the bass comes back I don't know why. I am very satisfied with yamaha b1 b2 and ba-1000. I can't find any review on internet before buying. I know u are interested so I should let u know.
I love vfets, but i am in doubt of collecting vfet amps now. I have found out some SiC or GaN normally on devices have exact output curve like vfet. Maybe diy amp with those device performs better.
By the way, don't use wd40 on contacts, wd40 is corrosive.

I'm going to review my BA-1000 once she's restored. Too late for you though.

@@KITR-UK I didn't mean sell it to you. I mean you should be interested in what it sounded like. I am looking forward to your review! btw, did u find a service manual? I know how to tune idle if u need it. I don't have schematic.
