    You're very lucky to score one of these! My grandad used to buy Laserdiscs in Asia all the time in the 80s and once he brought back Dragon's Lair from a business trip in Kyoto. He set it up for me and my sisters when we came over to stay and it absolutely blew our minds! He also had a racing game but I can't remember what it was called. It was one of those video realistic ones. This was a good 5 years before sega cd.

    It can also play Sega and NEC TURBOGRAPHX-16 in America. for the 3" CD Form factor games for handheld devices. It plays each device invented on Sega and NEC, plus Pioneer Games.

    We picked up ours over 15 years ago when the prices were significantly cheaper. We managed to grab the 3D goggles and adapter plus all the pacs. Sadly missing one released disc and the unreleased one to complete the collection :(

      Do all your pacs still work?

      Thankfully when we bought our s1 and s10 pacs, we had them re-capped. Haven’t turned any of it on for 5+ yrs due to no time :(
      Hoping 2024 gives us more time and in the next few years we will try our ms-dos pc with the pc pac

      @DavidM-pd9oi You made the right decision having them re-capped. Right after I finished making the video the PC Engine pac died. I tried recapping it and new caps reanimated the module.

      @@DavidM-pd9oi where did you get yours re-capped? I need to have my Laseractive and TurboDuo re-capped. I haven't met anyone else who has the 3d goggles, that's neat.

      When we did get our sega pacs re-capped, I was able to take them to a registered Pioneer repairer.
      However, I had to provide all the caps and cap replacement diagrams.
      All this information was obtained online thankfully :)
      Sadly they also had to fix the belt and laser pick up which both were damaged in shipping :(
      These parts were impossible to get here in Australia. I was able to ask a contact in USA to get them from Pioneer USA.
      Hope this helps ;)

    @kitr-uk --- Are any of the NEC or Sega LD games exclusive to LaserActive or have they been released on other consoles? And are they better, as good, or worse than the LD versions?

    • @KITR-UK
      @KITR-UK  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As far as I know, all of the exclusives are really exclusive.

      @@KITR-UK--- Any worth getting this for?

      @KITR-UK  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be honest, I reckon none of those are worth getting.

      @@KITR-UK--- Too bad they didn't make it an actually high-end LD player in addition to working with the pacs. And if the pacs were region-free and compatible. Would definitely make it more justified... and if they included 32X and whatever PC-Engine's equivalent was, and backwards compatibility with Master System. Then all you'd need is the LD and two pacs, plus they should have included two spaces for pacs and/or built-in karaoke pac.

      I use a transformer for the UK, so it's not exactly for you. airlinktransformers.com/category/japan-uk-voltage-converters

    You might have to change all 80 capacitors with new ones!! After the replacement, it will last 30+ years more

    Hi,
    Do you have sounds of old GPWS from aircrafts like A300-600/A310, older A320 family, DC-10, L-1011, 747-200 ect?
    Especially A306/A310 would be welcome.
    But also C-17 would be very cool.

    I wonder how much it cost Pioneer to get the rights to build those modules for sega and nec. Cant really be in their interest not to sell their hardware instead.

    This console really made no sense its like they took a regular analogue laser disc player and made it so you can attach a console from another company to it so it has the basic processing power needed to play basic fmv games. the video is analogue so all that is required is some way to control what scenes are being played in a non linear way .they could have just made it so you plug in a very cheap chip since it doesn't require much hardware .but fmv games are bad anyway so if you regret buying this at least you can play some mega drive or pc engine games on it even if its more expensive than buying a regular mega drive . i think pioneer wanted to make a console for a while but they didn't want to put in any research so they created this in a rush.
