TBH we prefer the Gigabyte G32QC-A (latest revision) over this panel. While this panel has an ultrawide display, lack of compatibility with PS4, more careful handling and the 100Hz HDMI restriction aren't great. The G32QC-A is a best in class monitor versus the rest, MSI has lower nits and no HDR. Haven't checked about Asus models yet. Please subscribe!

@@Techspin thanks for the info! what about hand calibration specs? whats recommended? i want to get the best of this monitor as i can, for gaming. Thanks! :)
We have mounted this, but the weight is a bit much so you'd need a monitor mount that can take the weight. Our arm tended to rotate the screen a little, again, due to the weight. I'd stick with the supplied base unless you really need it, or better, consider a normal 16:9 monitor. Please subscribe, thanks for your support!
So the monitor has 4 inputs, two of which are HDMI, two of which are DisplayPort, which look like rectangles with one angled corner. You'll only need one wire to your PC, or other source. Connecting your PC to your monitor with an HDMI, you can only reach 100Hz, but using one DisplayPort wire, you can reach 144Hz with just that cable. You will only need one cable, we always recommend using DisplayPort cables as HDMI often have issues, whether it's the cable is too old/wrong spec- needs to be 2.0, and most people think all HDMI cables are the same- they aren't, and finally the monitor itself sometimes imposes a limitation on the maximum framerate. This monitor doesn't, though the maximum HDMI 2.0 can support at this ultrawide resolution is 100Hz over HDMI. DisplayPort just generally... works. I noticed you mentioned it won't work for PS4... it will work, but resolution drops off from the 3440x1440. I'm running two of these on my home office setup and run my PS4 to one until I upgrade (just a casual gamer).
I usually try to add the "at the time of video release" disclaimer, as I did bring this to Gigabyte's attention and they very well may have revised the firmware the monitor ships with. That or a slight difference in TV video (not PC video) timings between NA and Asia regions for either the console or monitor. The PS4 AFAIK can't do widescreen? So the resolution drop is normal, but at least it works for you! Please subscribe, thanks for your support!

to run a ps5 is it better to get 2 x high quality 27inch monitors rather than this? I would use it as a work station as well and just game at night. You can run it at 120hz from my understanding but none the games are suited at 21:9 display so it would still have to be 16:9. Is this correct? Can you run the ps5 on Picture by picture on one side whilst running TH-cam or Netflix on the other side perhaps?
If you watch the review..... It doesn't work with TV timing, tested with PS4. Only PC timings. Since there's no USB port, there's no way for Gigabyte to update the firmware, we already contacted them regarding a fix and confirmed it does NOT work.
Did you connect with DisplayPort? Because we mentioned a few times, in the TLDR and other spots, that G-sync only works over DP. Although if you are connected with DP, need to check the Nvidia control panel and see if you can force it. Always use DP to connect gaming monitors, as it will get around HDMI hardware limitations that some monitors have. Please subscribe, thanks for your support!
Yes, but ultrawide screens come with a bunch of problems you may need to solve including having a powerful enough video card, having a long enough DisplayPort cable to drive it at max Hz, and the fact they are inherently fragile. Also, streaming is not great with these as they don't match typical 16:9 platforms unless you design your stream around it. Otherwise, it's awesome. 😎 Please subscribe, thanks for your support!
Very good question. An RX 6650 XT will be fine for watching media/large desktop with multi-windows, but gaming will be a different beast. Normally, driving a 2560x1440 (1440p) 144Hz panel would be challenging enough, but this is a 3440x1440 144Hz display, with 34% more screen pixels, meaning your GPU has to work 34% harder to fill the extra room. We had an RTX 3070 powering this, and in Fortnite, we had to dial back settings to get good framerates, but weren't happy with the visuals. We upgraded to an RTX 3080 and that was just enough to get better visuals and framerates. So you could use a 6650 XT but expect to seriously dial back settings depending on the game, until you can upgrade to a more powerful GPU. Apart from setup which was a little dangerous due to the width, if you're planning on doing streaming, AVOID ultrawide as you need a 16:9 normal 1440p screen for that. HUB has a 12 Game Average showing the Radeon RX 6600 XT/6650 XT hititng just above the RTX 3060 for performance here: th-cam.com/video/dIohkbd--l8/w-d-xo.html Please subscribe, thanks for your support!
Lowering resolution will make your GPU do upscaling to stretch the game to fill the screen, though upscaling isn't very GPU intensive- but the non-native resolution will look blurry. If possible, keep the resolution at native, and adjust the in-game setting from high to medium (or lower) and disable as much eye candy (lighting effects, anti-aliasing such as TAA or MSAA) to get faster framerates. This may still be a little heavy for your GPU so you may need to dial down resolution also, until you upgrade. But try settings first. 😉
lol, no. With a 30-45fps in most games at 1440p, this Ultrawide imposes another 30% more work for the GPU, so that would bring frames down to the 22-32FPS range or so. Of course, you can dial down all settings to low, and you might just get 60Hz. However if you've got a RX570 right now, this might be a good future planned upgrade- however keep in mind the points as to handling, these are more fragile than normal 16:9 monitors, and it doesn't work with PS4. A better choice may be the Gigabyte G32QC-A, a 16:9 1440p widescreen. It won't tax the RX 570 as hard as the ultrawide, you can check our review here: th-cam.com/video/w2c2gvcAd-8/w-d-xo.html And please subscribe! For an idea of what you can expect at 1440p before adding on the 30% more GPU needed for ultrawide, look here: th-cam.com/video/7r2ldY4sYtM/w-d-xo.html
