    I have a pool with some algae growth in it, and I used some algaecide with coper sulphate. It was from Leslie's. Can I use a pool RX still?

      If you used only a small amount you should be fine.

    We have a yellow algae problem with our 30k gal pool. I used yellow out and it didn't work (even though it had worked previously). Our pool was looking like a level 2 (chemicals were good). I backwashed the sand filter, vacuumed, brushed, backwashed again, and put a black poolrx into our pump basket with two gallons LC. About 5 days have gone by since installing the poolrx and the pool is blue but cloudy and I still see a faint streak of yellow where the algae was at its worst. I brush that daily. I haven't vacuumed or backwashed again because on the poolrx instructions it defines a green pool as one where you "can't see the steps". Should I be patient and wait for it to clear? Should I vacuum and backwash? (Our chemicals continue to be in balance.) The weather has been hot, muggy, with daily rain showers. Thank you for you help!!

      At this point I would add 8-10 lbs of pool Floc (aluminum Sulphate). Add that to the pool and run it in recirculate for 1 hour. Then leave pool off for 48 hours. After that vacuum all of the dead algae with backwash in waste mode. I am assuming the sand filter has a Multi-port valve but not sure. Hopefully that is the case.

    3:26 do you really have your pool at 92 degrees fahrenheit?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's crazy but a lot of my customers like to heat their pool's to 90. I just set one today for an Easter Swim party to 90 degrees. To me, anything over 82 is no longer refreshing.

      Sometimes. Depends if you see that it is wearing out. algae or chlorine not holding.

    What are your thoughts on Clorox pool shock. Active ingredients sodium dichloro-s- triazinetrione 58% for liner pools. the package says it will not bleach out your liner. Thoughts???

    • @SPL
      @SPL  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I only use liquid chlorine or bleach on vinyl liner pools. Dichlor is fast dissolving but you never know. Safer to just stick to liquids.

    How does the poolRx last for 6 months? Does it stay inside the filter housing stuck to the filter grates or does it get dispersed into the pool and stays in the pool? And when you back wash or clean the filter, how much minerals are we losing?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's complicated but the minerals enter the filter and then slowly dissolve over a 10 day period. Once in the water the copper stays suspended and can last up to 6 months.

    Hi David, I can't seem to clear my cloudy pool. Water isn't green, just changed the cartridge filters and added the black pool RX 3 days ago. Still cloudy. Should I continue to wait or should I add a clarifier? Chlorine is 2ppm, PH 7.4, Alkalinity 110. Been running the filter 24 hours

    • @SPL
      @SPL  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Raise the chlorine up to 10 ppm and clean the filter

    • @SPL
      @SPL  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After 3 days of 24/7 running poolrx minerals should be dissolved.

  • @bigmack2325

    I noticed you cleaned the filters after 24 hours. But, the poolrx packaging says don't clean filters for two weeks. Should i disregard that?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After running for 24 hours most of the minerals will either be dissolved or used up, destroying the algae.

    The instructions say not to clean your filters for 2 weeks after installing. Is washing the filters for a bad algae Pool like the last pool you showed?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, if you run it 24 hours and the pool is green, most of the minerals will be used up anyway. So that is why it is a little different here.

    • @Paggy6668

      Yes, you have to add DE every time after you clean the filter. The DE is what actually catches all the debris and gunk.

    have a customer that canceled service while their house was being remodeled, 6 to 8 months pool had no electrical power, now they want service started up again, pool water is literally black, 20K gallons. should i give the 10 gal. chlorine and poolrx a try or some other reccomendation in a case like this?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends, is there more than 4" of gunk on the bottom. Then drain it, chlorine and acid wash it. But if it is just mainly algae you should be able to turn it around - what type of filter does it have?

    So how do we know it it’s the chlorine or the poolRx that’s clearing up the algae since you’re using both.

    • @SPL
      @SPL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did a test with the PoolRx. In a Green pool I put one in and then only raised the chlorine to 3.0 ppm. The next day most of the algae was gone. But as insurance I suggest adding large amounts of chlorine.

    Hi! Our pool start looking green Last month but there was not any algae in the pool, we checked the chemicals, the ph was high and chlorine was low. We added ph increaser and one liter of super algaecide and put the cell on super-chlorinator mode. Now after one week, the chemicals are all balanced, however the pool is still green, there is some green powder which doesn’t remove by our sand filter. Our pool is around 20000 gallon, what’s your recommendation please?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try vacuuming it out in "Waste Mode" - If the water is cloudy you can also add a Pool Floc. Very effective.

    • @Giusep1181
      @Giusep1181 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Test for metals next time if dealing with a green pool and no algae present… If there’s a trace copper level and/or you’ve used Copper-based algaecides, high pH can cause your pool water to look green. Also, your comment states “the ph was high … we added ph increaser” (probably a typo, as it would’ve needed decreaser or Muriatic Acid)… Lastly, if your pool has an aged heater plumbed in, the copper heating element will break down over time, which is a common culprit of metal issues. I would recommend looking into the Jack’s Magic line, especially if you still run a Salt chlorine generator. Be sure to balance your levels prior to adding JM product and you can’t go wrong… Hope this helps!

      2months later and I have not had any signs of algae.

      Only if the CYA is way over 100 ppm. The Copper in the RXcan react with high CYA. But it is not typical.

      Also check your phosphates and always check copper levels In pool before adding a pool rx. Surprised pool rx isn't more clear on this. I really love the product but these guys aren't chemically informed on pool chemistry. They claim phosphates do not create chlorine demand or eat chlorine. They must have really good lawyers.

    Cool video. But why are you cleaning the filter after 24 hours? most of the minerals will be lost....

    • @SPL
      @SPL  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of the minerals will have been used up in fighting the algae so that is not a real issue as long as the pump was running 24 hours. At some point, this pool will need a booster pack but that is part of the process. It really works well.

      This is the only exception. If you run the pool 24 hours the minerals get dispersed and are mostly used up anyway by the algae. Then you would add a booster after the last filter clean.
