We used PoolRx last summer and it was the greatest thing ever. We have a persistent yellow algae problem and it completely made our lives with our pool easier. I installed our PoolRx a week ago and have noticed the bottom of our pool (especially in the corners) getting brownish blotchy stains. We have never had that before. I am upset with myself because we DID NOT test for metals prior to installing the PoolRx (we didn't last year either.) Now because I was negligent, have I wrecked the pool? We did notice there was staining on the steps prior to putting in the PoolRx that had never happened before, but I thought it was because we had let our pool get pretty bad over the winter (it was swampy and black). (We did have it back to blue and balanced before putting in the PoolRx this year.) The stains on the steps come off easily with vitamin C but not so with the stains on the liner at the bottom. Any ideas? Is it safe to use a metal stain remover with PoolRx? Should we remove the PoolRx? THANKS!!
It's too late to remove the PoolRx now but try adding 2-3 lbs of ascorbic acid powder to the pool. That should remove the staining. Before next season use a Culator 4.0 in the pump basket for 30 days, then a PoolRX.
I always would develop green algae on the walls and especially in the deep end. Nothing too much but enough to embarass me if we had company and I would always brush the walls good before company came but it would come back in a day or two. I did everything to no avail and all readings looked good. I tried Pool RX and I have never had that problem again. I have used it for years. I put one in the filter basket in April and use it until October (6 months-one unit). Southern California here, hot summers. Problem solved…. Thanks David
@@thepianochannel5167 I try to shock it once a week but sometimes I don’t even do that. I do check my water constantly in the hotter weather and maintain good levels, however. I also use liquid chlorine mainly and have never emptied my pool. Most out here empty and re-fill the pool every couple of years. I took out my chlorinator when it broke and never replaced it. In these hot months I use a floater and use liquid chlorine as the primary supply of chlorine. With the liquid chlorine I can go to higher levels at times and that seems to be my way of shocking the water. I use about a gallon of liquid every few days in these really hot months along with the floater but if my cyanuric acid goes too high I use only liquid. I use a clarifier and an algaecide and pool perfect with phos free and use the Pool RX in the basket and that is all. Pool looks great.

@@apolloorosco6852 Make sure your chlorine is right. Chlorine is the answer for everything. If your Cyanuric Acid is high then you need to run your pool at higher amounts of chlorine. Remember that. Keep all things in good levels but Chlorine is the key to it all.
This is like a solid mineral version of an pool ionizer. Seems like a good choice if you don’t want to clean out the ionizer every week to avoid staining the pool walls. Does it get dissolved at once or over a few months in the skimmer.
I'm going try this. However, for the7.5-20k what is the difference between the blue and white and the solid blue? Solid blue packaging says chelated minerals and the blue and white says copper silver and zinc. Thx
I've gotten, at best, 4-6 weeks of easier pool care from using the PoolRx. The idea that you can run your chlorine at .5-1 ppm is not reality in a hot climate.
I've been working the Houston area since the 90's and have seen many mineral systems installed on new pools. The cartridge may get replaced once, but that's it. They don't seem to be effective here. With or without, we need to keep chlorine higher than other areas.
@@mayorb3366 . That's been my experience in Las Vegas. Maybe they work great in a more temperate climate, but then the pool is just going to be easier in general to deal with and the minerals may be helpful but not very consequential.
Hope you’re still responding to this videos comments. I’m about to open my pool and was wondering if I can forgo the other chemicals pool shock, algaecide etc that’s typically need when opening a green pool and just drop this in the pump basket along with a chlorine tablet?
I've been following your videos for several years now and I appreciate the quality content and explanations that you provide. Question for you, do you recommend continuing doing a weekly shock treatment while using Pool RX? Thanks a million!
Do I need to buy a new unit every year or once I bought the main unit the first year, subsequently I can just buy the booster every year to save some money?
Is one does a culator 1.0 enough to bring my copper level down from 0.3? I’m wanting to add the pool RX but my copper is at 0.3ppm. I have a 17.5k pool.
My plaster got stained with blue due to high copper. Please be aware of this product. I did everything that needs to be done before using it. Even bought new filter cartridges. But you will get stains.
It's fairly rare. Usually it is an overdoes of minerals or the pool didn't circulate them well. Add 2 lbs of ascorbic acid and the stains should lift up easily. Natural Chemistry has a product you can add called Stain Free (Citric Acid). Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with it. A bummer for sure.
@@charmainecruz2316 The stain won't come back as the minerals dissipate in the water. It just depends on the pool size really. The blue os for 7,500+ and the Black is not reccomended for anything under 20,000 gallons

I use pool rx on most my pools they are amazing . But always add medal out when you use them and don’t use it with old water . It will stain the pools purple and it’s very hard to get out . And always keep your ph low when it’s high for a long period of time it will also stain the pool

Before I put in poolrx my pool reading for copper was .3 and now it's at 1 after having poolrx in for 12 hrs
After adding the PoolRx you won't get an accurate copper reading because of the chealtion.

You would need a new unit at the start of each season. The anode inside gets calcium build-up and is less effective.

Are we able to use Leslies perfect weekly with the pool rx + for an above ground pool?
Yes, they are compatible.
I keep my pool pump running on low speed 24/7 so is it okay to keep this Pool RX in the filter basket all this time?
yes
I managed 62,000 gallon community pool, would two black cells be adequate?
Yes, 2 Black Units
I have a pool that uses an ironizer. Can I use Pool RX?
No. Too much copper in one pool. Might stain it
So my 20k gallon pool, which one do I use?
I would use a black unit
What’s the difference between this and what’s used in a pool frog system?
The Frog only kills bacteria and virus, the PoolRX also kills algae.
will this work in Texas where we are steadily at 100+ degrees?
Yes it will.
Can you put one of these in the pool over winter.
You can but unless you are heating the pool it won't be necessary. Algae just doesn't form in cold water.
Can i use this in a floater and if not why is that?
No. It needs a good amount of water passing over it.
Can you use pool rx along with borax?
Yes. no issues
Is it safe to use if the copper levels are 0.2
That is right at the max for the product. So I would say no.
Is one does a culator 1.0 enough to bring my copper level down from 0.3?

I think a good rule of thumb is one per season. 👍
It raised the copper level way too high in our pool had to remove it and buy copper Removal. Can stain your pool.
