EPIC EcoDiesel Gladiator Frankenlift... Teraflex, Falcon Shocks, EVO Mfg, Black Rhino, Maxxis Oh My

  • Here goes Phase One of the EPIC Jeep Gladiator Rubicon EcoDiesel build... first up, a suspension system that will give us some good ground clearance and handle the 300lb+ weight increase. As there is really no quality packaged suspension product for the EcoDiesel Gladiator, we worked with Teraflex, Falcon Shocks and EVO to assemble the pieces we need to achieve our goals.
    What we executed is a smooth-riding, yet sporty 4.5" suspension frankenlift on 38" tires.
    Here's the general parts list. Sorry, no part numbers at the moment, we'll fill that in here later when we have time.
    EVO 4.5" Plush Ride Springs for JT
    Teraflex Front & Rear Swaybar Links
    Teraflex Front & Rear Bump Stops
    Teraflex Adjustable Front Track Bar
    Teraflex Front Spring Spacers
    EVO Adjustable Rear Track Bar
    Teraflex Front Drop Brackets
    Teraflex Adjustable Alpine Arms (Set of 8) with IR Bushings
    EVO Extended Rear Brake Lines
    Falcon 2.1 Mono Shocks for JT
    Falcon Nexus 2.2 Adjustable Steering Stabilizer
    EVO & Teraflex Shock Extensions
    Black Rhino Abrams Wheels in Textured Matte Gunmetal (20x9.5)
    Maxxis RAZR M/T Tires (38x13.50R20)
    If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up in the comments, or via any of our social media channels. epic-4wd.com

    This is hands down my favorite JTRD build you all do some amazing work. I was going to ask did you run shock extension brackets in the rear to use the Flacon 2.1’s like you did in the front. I ask because after doing some research it looks like Teraflex doesn’t make them for the JT only the JL. However I did find out that EVO MFG makes some and am wondering if you used those in this build.

      Thanks for your comment. This video is quite out of date now. We just typically do the 3.5" or 4.5" kit from Teraflex with the corresponding Falcon 2.1 or 3.3 shock. No need for a frankenlift now ;-)

    • @EPIC-4WD
      @EPIC-4WD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know eh? The core reason is that I wanted 38" tires and that size doesn't exist in the brands I want in a 17" rim. 38s just look right proportionately with the Gladiator the way we set it up. I managed to wheel pretty hard in the Kootenays this past August/September on 20s and didn't really have a problem. So we'll see how these do. There's still quite a bit of sidewall ;-)

    I was fairly certain when they released the specs, Jeep said it was exactly the same as the other JTs except for the weight up front, so why would they make "EcoDiesel" specific lift? All you should really need is a beefier spring made for that weight right? Is there something different about the suspension or how it is set up besides it's weight correction? Please tell us, would really like to know. BTW looks Awesome too!

    • @EPIC-4WD
      @EPIC-4WD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are multiple little differences with the EcoDiesel. We assembled the products that we wanted from various brands to get the road manners we wanted. We compromised on the Falcon shocks, being that we had to use the 2.1s rather than the 3.3s. After driving it a few days, the front end needs to be a bit stiffer, thus the Falcon 3.3s for EcoDiesel should correct that once Teraflex sends us a set ;-)

    • @EPIC-4WD
      @EPIC-4WD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No DEF tank clearance issues... essentially they just made the fuel tank smaller and used the space for the DEF tank. The 1" spacer in the front was to accommodate the eco diesel weight up front.

      There was no clearance issues with the DEF tank (with the parts we used) and we didn't touch the rear exhaust... so not sure what you're referring to. • @EPIC-4WD
      @EPIC-4WD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@velvetrose0001 Hello! Congrats on your EcoDiesel JT! Few quick comments we can offer. 1. Don't put a 37x12.50R17 tire on the stock rim as the stock rim is too narrow. Yes, people do it, but you shouldn't. You'll also run into an issue where wheel spacers may be necessary depending on your lift. Just buy proper wheels. We typically run Fuel wheels 17x9 with a +1 offset. 2. Your sport-s has the low fenders, so you'll have to go with a taller lift to clear the 37" tires "properly". Many folks run 37" tires on a stock jeep and adjust the bump stop, but then you have no up-travel. We typically spend $1,000 on Mopar rubicon fender kit, which will give you the taller fenders. 3. Most of the lifts you see us do are 3.5" Teraflex or 2.5" EVO. Both pretty much measure the same final height. If you have any other questions, feel free to give us a call 604-888-2961. We get calls from all over Canada and the USA ;-)
