    What a mess. All that effort to make everything fit just to make it near impossible for the guy to replace breaks later on because who the fuck knows what is for what and what goes where and how?! My hats off to you. Good work!

    Im just starting on a rear disc brake kit from Summit on a 66 Mustang like that, rite off the bat no hub rings and the e brake cables they sent go in the trash and have to start from scratch, funfunfun.

    Not sure why people put discs on the rear anyway on a non-race car…only does 30% of the braking force.

    Throw that kit back in the box, return it and buy a different brand kit. It will never be right! If you don't UTG is going to make a "Give Me a Brake" t-shirt.

    And as far as those rear breaks; I/We feel your pain. These parts and kits anymore are becoming a joke, to say the least. As you said, " a nightmare". You always figure it out though. It's a universal brake kit, so it's really one-size-doesn't-fit-anything. 😛

    • @mark6063
      @mark6063 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      "I don't know" the size of those rotors, maybe it was a conversion kit for a 14 HP riding lawn mower. 😋☺🙄🤣🤣

  • @kramnull8962
    @kramnull8962 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dumb question, what would keep you from being able to bore the hole out slightly in the brake line end? So the bolt would fit.

    • @robbsclassics
      @robbsclassics 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a concave space inside the banjo fitting that allows the banjo bolt to get fluid. If you bore it out, you don't have that space and brakes will work very hard, if they work at all.

    The caliper racket is wrong. That;s why the pad is halfway off the rotor.

      @bennettshotrodgarageclassi7068  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      you are exactly right! it turns out to be a truck bracket. Simple mistake on their part, but a huge delay for us. I still like the quality of the kit. As we have shown in numerous videos, unexpected things happen. We work on several cars at a time for this very reason, if you come to a dead stop on one, move to another. Doesnt make the issue suck any less, but at least we are still generating income elsewhere

      its still an excellent kit, just got some incorrect parts which is a common issue, even with wilwood. Throwing our hands up isnt an option. Adapt, alter, fabricate, we do what it takes to make things work correctly. its all a part of thr process, that and a healthy dose of anti depressants

    Instead of screwing with a "Universal" kit, it sounds like he would have been better off adapting the brakes from another car model -- then everything wouldn't have been the wrong bolts/rotors.

    • @bennettshotrodgarageclassi7068
      @bennettshotrodgarageclassi7068  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      no other early fords have rear disc, and adapting another cars brakes would involve time sourcing components and research. the kit we are using will work perfectly once we get the correct components

    • @Emberxxx2002
      @Emberxxx2002 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bennettshotrodgarageclassi7068 OK, it just seemed like if you had started with disc brakes from a model that you knew, it would have saved time over trying to adapt every last bit on this kit. Because then the rotors and calipers would already be paired, etc. I think it's great that you have been able to overcome the mechanical issues on this.

    Put an airline on the other end of the braided brake hose and drill it out to fit the bolts you have.

    • @matthewboyd3621
