    Hello, i'm researching this thing called "pilates".. i've not seen that mat.. what is it called and how is it used?

    • @PILATESOLOGY
      @PILATESOLOGY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi!
      The mat is made by Gratz equipment. here is a link: www.pilates-gratz.com/
      They still use the original blueprints and manufacturing specs that Joe passed to Donald Gratz all those years ago.
      These are hand made too... We even did a Gratz tour and you can see it in the interviews and discussions section on the website..pilatesology.com/classes/gratz-pilates-apparatus-factory-tour/
      Have a great day!

    when you say "your back long on the mat", does it mean whole spine is imprinting? or does it mean you are keeping natural curve??

    • @PILATESOLOGY
      @PILATESOLOGY  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi,
      I mean keep your pelvis neutral (hip points and public bone level) and lengthen your spine from there-don’t press your lower back down if doing so changes your pelvis. Some people who have a flatter spine will touch the mat with a neutral pelvis and others will not so the term neutral spine is confusing. Hope that helps!

      @@PILATESOLOGY thank you Alisa!!
      I was watching Sonje Mayo’s footwork video before watching this one, and she points out to imprint… so that made me confuse. Thank you for clarifying this :)

    What position should your back be in ? Press down and imprinted into the floor?

    For the full hundred, I have heard conflicting info for the breaths. I have heard that you take 10 full breaths and to pump the arms 5 times per each inhale and exhale, equal to 100 pumps. Another source stated to do 100 breaths. Which is correct? Thank you! 🙏

    • @PILATESOLOGY
      @PILATESOLOGY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! It's 10 breaths and 100 pumps (10 pumps per inhale/exhale).

    i was wondering... should the sternocleidomastoid muscles be contracting strongly during the 100's?

    Great demo. Don’t understand her counting system, though. She’d done about what I counted as ten breaths when she said “that’s seventy”? She must’ve been counting hand pumps? Oh, I see she already answered this question : 10 pumps per inhale-exhale.

    • @PILATESOLOGY
      @PILATESOLOGY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It's counting the pumps :)
