It's just a style. I'm old enough to recall when EVERYONE paid reverent homage to "real wood". Wood is beautiful, in some iterations, but, it's not sacred or anything. Yet, I remember, in the early 70's "real wood" was a wonder. I think because there was so much concrete, steel, and plastic in the 60's. The Beatles' did a song named, "Norwegian Wood". One of my favorites -- I adored that album. Album: RUBBER SOUL
You can always tell play fighting from the real thing -- no vocalizations or hair standing on end, ears forward, deliberate engagement in the "fight" by both cats. Yeah, they're having fun.
Oh, no! It's the oldies bloc, here. I'm 75, too. But hey, this ugly buffet turned into a stunning piece; it was hard to believe how anyone could pull off such a transformation. Oh, and the humor? ---priceless, especially the orbital sanding section. Thanks for such a wonderful video. All of them.

O. M. G!!!!!! What an enormous job! But so worth it! Trash to treasure, AGAIN! You’re becoming predictable! But we love it. Besides the end result, I love those cats wrestling (not fighting), your attitude to days of sanding (hilarious) Mandy’s “interest” in your work etc. etc. etc. I just love every new video you create and even go back and watch the old ones sometimes! You’re just the best!❤️🦘🇦🇺😊 keep ‘em coming!
I laughed so hard when Mando knocked that thing into the drawer! He’s not much help, but he’s an adorable supervisor. I have a slight weakness for art deco pieces. The carved detail on the doors of this piece is interesting. Chocolate and coffee are ALWAYS a good mix! The gold wax and hardware is just beautiful. I swear I could see that wood breathe a big sigh of relief after the restoration, because it looked smothered under all of that paint.
Just in case you don’t know, the green “fabric” is baize, used for cutlery drawers (& billiard table tops)! It’s usually wool or cotton, with a felt like finish. It helps stop cutlery (especially silver & silver plated cutlery) from becoming scratched & tarnished. (On billiard tables it helps the balls roll really smoothly). Love watching your videos, turning old & unloved pieces into beautiful & desirable ones. Best wishes from Annie, in Cornwall.🙂🌸
@@trudyeby464 I have seen someone use a heat gun to fairly easily remove baize, but that baize was still reasonably thick. How well it would work on the thin disintegrating baize I don't know.

Now that the numerous layers of paint are gone and the wood can show its natural beauty, the entire piece can finally breathe again. You gave it new life.
I'm in my 70's now, but I remember these sideboards well. My Mother had one similar, it also had a drawer with divisions in it for cutlery. The green baize lining would have been to protect the wood and to stop the cutlery getting scratched . She kept a bottle of sherry in the cupboard underneath, which was only brought out for Christmas or funeral wakes !!!! 😶..... It was a solid piece of furniture . Well done for bringing back this beautiful piece of furniture.
I got a huge chuckle when you said you woke up with the rope and it was just Mondo. He was trying to tell you that he was going to hold you hostage until you gave him some cat treats! The buffet came out fantastic. You work so hard on these projects. We love you forever too Jay! 😊❤😂😸😻

Jay, this piece is beautiful❗️I love the brown stain color inside & out. You brought out the glamour or the doors & curved design. I may have watched this video before, but so wonderful to view, your skill & Mondo & your charm-delightful. Thank you 🌿
I think deco is my favorite. The beautiful end was worth the 2 week investment. Mando and Hugo are hilarious in the background. My 2 cats have 2 speeds...mortal combat and dead asleep!
Thank you for saving this beautiful piece from the landfill. It never seems to amaze me when people just paint over furniture instead of having it restored.
That was amazing. That hard wax oil is a gorgeous finish. Talk about a restoration. One has to see it to believe it. Who is the neighbor cat that loves to spar with Mando? Is that Rufus or Theo? They are so much fun to watch. Mando is a happy go lucky boy. How could you do a piece of furniture veneer and stain and finish to look like Mando's coat? He is so beautiful.
I hope you plan to keep this one. I let nothing go any longer because I've come to understand that people don't get the time and energy that goes into a craft. I crocheted a bedspread one time and gave it to a friend. After letting the dog turn and dig and claw the middle of the bed, she brought it back to me and asked if I could fix it. You have a glorious result and no one will ever appreciate what you did to create it. That's hurtful. Hang on to it.
I just love Mando he is so gorgeous! I adore your channel and eagerly await each new video. You have done a superb job of the Art Deco cabinet, it looks just like it came out of the furniture makers! I love your attention to every little detail and wish my dad was alive as he would have really enjoyed your videos. He made and restored furniture in his spare time after he came back from the war. Tnks for your great content and hi from Australia. 👍🏼🇦🇺
Wow! Absolutely stunning result - you're very talented (and patient!), I love the sanded transformation before you decide the finish. It looks so fresh. Then you transform the piece again! My neighbour has a young Bengal like yours that stalks my indoor cat through the windows of my house, upstairs too - climbs on my conservatory roof. They fight like crazy through the windows. My kitty just won't go outside, not interested even if the door's left open. Seems to think being in the teeny conservatory is 'playing out'. 😂
That turned out gorgeous. I do not know why so many people hate the color of real wood.

That is a real Makeover !!! From a ugly painted piece to a more than beautiful Sideboard ! You did this furniture right to bring it back to its original and it make such a great different s ! Nice to work outside but when it is taken so long time to get it right you most be motivated to keep going ! Luckily Mando and Hugo where their to support you !! Nice video and you so much for sharing !
@4:24 the cat stops dead when you said you used wine vinegar! Great videos, really learning a lot.
I do love seeing Mondo being a lively kitty. Thanks for leaving that in. :)
Plenty of hard work removing all that white paint ....... but what a beauty it turned out in the end !!! Excellent work.
My Lord, what a giant Job of yours. This Buffett looks sooo unbelievebel beautiful! After you took care of it.
Mando is the best boss a restorer could have. Highly professional and very attentive to details!
Mando and Hugo are stealing the show 😂❤❤ You really inspire me to do some restorations myself. I am learning a lot from your videos. Thank you very much 🤗
It looks beautiful. You saved the old girl and gave her a new life.
Cats are experts at "Hinder work". 😄 Beautiful job. I love Art Deco!
Wow. WOW! What a glorious result. I know it took a disproportionate amount of work, but it is truly gorgeous. Love your dedication, patience, attention to detail, and sense of humor. You are funny AF. But your cats playing in the background stole the show, lol. Love them too.
Thank you! Cheers!😻
Jay, this piece is beautiful❗️I love the brown stain color inside & out. You brought out the glamour or the doors & curved design.
I may have watched this video before, but so wonderful to view, your skill & Mondo & your charm-delightful. Thank you 🌿
From a piece of junk to a stunning beauty. Thank you for all you do. Most enjoyable to watch. Mando is so adorable.
I think deco is my favorite. The beautiful end was worth the 2 week investment. Mando and Hugo are hilarious in the background. My 2 cats have 2 speeds...mortal combat and dead asleep!
You are so lucky to have your helpers around to guide you in your endeavors! ❤️❤️🐈🐈⬛😂🤣. As usual you did a magnificent job on this beautiful cabinet.
Thank you for saving this beautiful piece from the landfill. It never seems to amaze me when people just paint over furniture instead of having it restored.
Woweee beautiful! From junk to treasure, great job! ❤
The Cat is adorable, the work is excellent, 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
this sideboard looks so nice:)
the curves of it are so pretty
This is amazing well done, I enjoyed this video an your humour😂 an of course, the cats 🐈 😻
Your cat is absolutely gorgeous!! His/her markings are amazing! Oh, and I love watching your videos!!😻😻😻🥰🥰🥰
Nice to see Mando help you clean out the cabinet. Mando is a cute cat.
Mandi is so beautiful. I love his markings and the rich colors he is blessed with. ❤ 🐱 !!
