We think the natural wood grain is beautiful today, but that's because today's fashion says it is. As some point in the life of this piece, fashion said that a painted surface looked better. That's why so many beautiful pieces were painted over. It's great that we can reverse that and interesting that our ideas of what is beautiful can change. Imagine what that says for people with tattoos.
I love that you put your logo on the little door! It’s so respectful of the original maker, but also allows you to make your mark on a piece that you so caringly restored!
You’re certainly right about why anyone would paint such beautiful wood figures. Sorry to hear about your mom at such a young age. I lost my dad when I was 7 years old. After 63 years I still miss him. That Mando is a little fireball.
LOVE this restoration! This buffet had beautiful wood hidden underneath the paint! Your restoration workmanship is amazing and your videos are so enjoyable, with bits of humor added in. I love the little door 'thingy'! So clever of you - but you really shouldn't worry about making all of your viewers happy! You do you! I am a tree an wood person and as such I’m not in favor of anyone painting wood fur, but with this piece, it was criminal. I haven’t seen graining like that in…a very long time. You took care with every part, every surface inside and out…and this time it was the bottom’s bottom. I know how happy this cupboard was to be loved all over because she has a smile on top. Millennials (young people) don't know the value of furniture they try to "up grad". There are many young people out there taking old furniture and completely ruining them. They think they are "up scaling" a piece but they're not.
You were very kind about why someone would paint this, but after looking at the final result, I'm not sure I could be so forgiving. It's simply gorgeous!

What was done with this piece is why I have an aversion to painting furniture. So many times painting is done out of ignorance, ineptitude of laziness, when there is all this glorious wood that should be seen. Thank you for returning this piece to its glory.

Maybe a harness instead of a collar. They don't cause a choking sensation for the cat.

I agree. Furniture has been a form of therapy for me. Helped me a lot with anxiety when I worked as a nurse on an acute medical unit.

What was done with this piece is why I have an aversion to painting furniture. So many times painting is done out of ignorance, ineptitude of laziness, when there is all this glorious wood that should be seen. Thank you for returning this piece to its glory.

It found the right person to save it. Also Jay, I am loving watching your new kitten, Mando playing in the back ground. He just makes me giggle! He is the most gorgeous cat I’ve ever seen - thats saying a lot when I have 4 of mine own. Thanks again for the video. I always get so excited when I see you have a new video out.
