I think it was Mad City Modern that took some purple house paint off a dresser and the wood underneath was _breathtaking._ Honestly the most beautiful grain I've ever seen and I live on furniture resto channels.

We think the natural wood grain is beautiful today, but that's because today's fashion says it is. As some point in the life of this piece, fashion said that a painted surface looked better. That's why so many beautiful pieces were painted over. It's great that we can reverse that and interesting that our ideas of what is beautiful can change. Imagine what that says for people with tattoos.

Jay, you really outdid yourself on this piece! Yes, it was shocking to see the wood finish underneath the paint. It's exquisite!! How could anyone have covered that up???? The door thingy was pure genius!! Excellent job, and your attention to every detail is amazing. Mando sure is a scene stealer! I can't take my eyes of him. I've always wanted a bengal cat, and he is so gorgeous. Very sweet too! You are so lucky to have him....and for him to have you!!

The little door was a perfect solution! And that cabinet was too lovely to be painted. Great rescue.

Watching the oil go on that veneer was beautiful.
The little door was a really good idea.
Mondo melts my heart. Do he and Hugo get along?

You were very kind about why someone would paint this, but after looking at the final result, I'm not sure I could be so forgiving. It's simply gorgeous!
