i can for sure do that next time i go in. i did just make another video where i talk about my length and what to tell my barber (i apologize in advance for my language lol gotta clean it up a bit 😂) basically just needs a shape! small trims here and there so that it grows out all the same length the entire way around. when i pull my hair down straight it goes a little past my nose for reference of length
First off thanks for the love on the videos ! I’d say that you should try to have the curls go over you forehead (bangs style) a bit so it hides the hairline?
i got wavy hair, sometimes i use innersense whipping creme or sometimes giovanni hair anti frizz serum. secret is too apply it on damp hair, never on dry hair otherwise it makes hair heavier and hard to style. thats my opinion. but i agree with you. pomade is helpfull
@@MrFrankieJoseph do try out whipping cream from innersense. I got to know about innersense from a Shawn Mendes's video, he has similar hai like we do. I have been using it , its great. compared to using pomade, this cream is less viscous and has a good texturising quality
Wind is 100% my worst enemy lmao the good news is that with the pomade, you just need to add a little bit of water and you can fix your hair on the spot. For shampoo and conditioner i use Dr. Teals Essential Oil brand. No sulfates or parabens which is 💯💯💯

It does ! It’s always easier to style wet, but I’d try to style it damp, when it’s almost dry but not fully. This style is meant to look like there’s product in it so I let the wet look ride. Just have to try not to touch it too much once you like where it’s at with this style
For sure going to grow my hair out again. The humidity always made my hair super frizzy because I never put product in it. It looked horrible lol. I'm also a hybrid between Wavy and Curly hair in my opinion. But with these tips. I'm going to try it out again. May i ask, how long did you have to grow out your hair?
My whole life I thought I had to get it straight first to them apply something and get that wavy effect (between straigth and curly)... So happy I finally figured how to have curly hair and not feel like a crazy person... grew up my whole life with super short hair and never got to experiment with till I was over 25. Mostly because of my father tho... he always associated caring about your hair to being gay, and let's say the fact that I'm gay didn't help. Thanks for the video.
Damn man!!! Comment means a lot. Totally hear you on the hair thing. Took me to be almost 30 to finally figure something out besides cutting it. Stoked you’re doin ur thing with it now man!!! Glad to have u here !
I want the hair strays like you have on the sides and back. I'm growing out my hair and from the front its just below eye level, but the sides are thick, and like a buzz cut with no individual strands. My hair looks identical to yours besides that though
The strands are what I like about the slick. I feel u. Think u just need to grow out the sides a bit more? It should be roughly the same length all the way around
What do you do to keep your stubble at that Length? Looks good. Is it just a particular electric razer? If so which one? You could make a vid about that!
@@MrFrankieJoseph is it one of those 3 headed razers (like with the 3 circles) or a more standard trimmer style one? Sorry for all the questions, I just have had a hard time finding a decent one so in planning just to get the one you use!
Hey thanks for the laughs and the tips (this is like my 2nd youtube comment in a decade so gg on that). Do you use a comb often when in the shower or just no combing at all ever?
@@MrFrankieJoseph just like any conditioner or a specific co wash cuz I think tried conditioner only before and it didn’t really go well for my scalp 😅
Hello I ve just wanted to ask the product you are using is called pomade ? English is not my first language and I am from other country so I want to be 100 sure that I will buy the right product
yes! its called pomade - its basically a waxy/clay-type product. if you check google or amazon hopefully you can find one that works for you in your country!
Hey Frankie I’ve been trying to love my natural curls for a while because I used to get wavy perms to loosen them. So I’ve been trying to get this style but every time I slick my hair back it always parts down the middle as it dries. My curl pattern is very similar to yours. HELPPPPP
Shit !!! Alright here’s what I’m thinkin - you might have to use a little more pomade than I did. Also, make sure your hair is damp but not wet when you style it. Should be slightly dry when you put in the product so it all holds a little better. And finally I’m thinking when you actually slick the top, don’t go straight back, slick it all back but off to the side a little bit - Like a 45 degree angle slicked path lol. That might help !! Fuckin hell lmk.
@@MrFrankieJoseph alright for sure I will try that. I haven’t got that pomade I’ve been using a leave in conditioner cause my hair is prone to frizz if not properly moisturized but I will give the pomade a go.
i have a question: you said pomade but that doesnt look like pomade it says on the product texturising putty. do you guys in the US call it pomade? should i use pomade or putty?
I think that’s just what that particular brand calls their pomade but you’re definitely looking for a pomade that is like a putty. Matte finish and medium hold!
Dude is there an alternative to mat-finish pomade? So far I've used collagen combing cream, but I think I need something "stickier" if you know what I mean. Those kinds of pomades are non-existent where I live
Have you looked for “texturizing putty” ?! Sometimes pomade is just called different things outside America. Or a water based wax? Even possibly some sort of clay hair product with a medium hold
Ahhh shoot well lemme first say, you need to find out if you have actual “dandruff” or just a dry scalp, because the two are different! Either way, ease up on the shampooing. If it is dandruff, get Selsun Blue (skip head and shoulders) and if it’s dry scalp, just stop shampooing for a week or so and condition only everyday. Just need to get some moisture back into the scalp. Hope this helps!
Do you think with a 3c 3b typa curls can I do it? I’ve tried it with wax and curly gel but in the back it grows when it gets dry. I really want to get a slick back it looks good on me but nothing works
I think you can, but your hair will have to be longer for sure. Gotta make sure your hair is damp enough at the beginning. To help the back out a little maybe you go to your hair person and have them just cut some of the weight out of the back of your hair? Leaving the top and sides alone.
I made a video about this a while back, don’t judge me lol but I usually only shampoo once a week. I condition every other day tho. If u shampoo too much it strips Your hair of all the natural oil and dries shit up. Also make sure u buy a shampoo/conditioner with no sulfates, parabens or silicones - Should say that on the bottl.
ok i tried your last tip with the pomade and holy shit dude, my hair looked better than it ever has with leave in conditioner, curl creams and gels like ever gonna try this now :D
I usually go in and then tell them i just need it thinned and shaped up. Not to take off too much length. My exact words are something like “i just don’t wanna look like a chia pet” 😂 it just needs to be the same length all the way around, if i pull the front of my hair down straight it goes a little past my nose
My hair didn't start getting curly until I was around 30. It got curly, then grey, then more so around 40. Talk about weird. Perhaps I could have hair like Mel Gibson's William Wallace by 50, but probably not. lol
Might be how you get out of the shower with it. I made another video where I clarified this a little bit more but you wanna make sure your hair is straight over your face when you get outta the shower and not slicked. That way there’s still volume. Check out my vid “another curly hair tutorial” I talk about it there. Hope that helps !!
@@MrFrankieJoseph yeah took a look at the video, i do it the same way but my hair only goes down to nose/lips when i pull it down, might just be too short and is a length issue atm, since all my hair just flops back forward when i push it back in the video or try the slick, cheers for helping tho!
Doesn’t really have a name, it’s just pretty much the same length all around. If i pull the front down over my face it goes about to the end of my nose
@@MrFrankieJoseph thanks! I just finished watching your other video where you explain in a bit more detail what your haircut is called and what to ask for at the barber’s/hairdresser’s. I’ll try this cut out 😁

Hey can you give some tips on dandruff? I wish somebody can help me on that
Ahhh shoot well lemme first say, you need to find out if you have actual “dandruff” or just a dry scalp, because the two are different!
Either way, ease up on the shampooing. If it is dandruff, get Selsun Blue (skip head and shoulders) and if it’s dry scalp, just stop shampooing for a week or so and condition only everyday. Just need to get some moisture back into the scalp.
Hope this helps!
thank yoouuuu!
since you said you chemicayl straightened it (i also done so ) does it go back to curly hair without cutting it ?
Sadly no my friend. Every time I was done with the straight hair I had to cut it off and start new
Do you think with a 3c 3b typa curls can I do it? I’ve tried it with wax and curly gel but in the back it grows when it gets dry. I really want to get a slick back it looks good on me but nothing works
I think you can, but your hair will have to be longer for sure. Gotta make sure your hair is damp enough at the beginning.
To help the back out a little maybe you go to your hair person and have them just cut some of the weight out of the back of your hair? Leaving the top and sides alone.
You should show your old hair style when you was young👍
just did in my new video 😎
Nah we needa see u curly hair dry and see what the results are with the slick back my hair be crazy when it dries so ain’t no way
Do you shampoo once a week or 2-3 times?
What do you recommend?
I made a video about this a while back, don’t judge me lol but I usually only shampoo once a week. I condition every other day tho. If u shampoo too much it strips Your hair of all the natural oil and dries shit up. Also make sure u buy a shampoo/conditioner with no sulfates, parabens or silicones - Should say that on the bottl.
You saved my Life
😂😂😂
What hair type does he have?
do you have alternatives to your putty ? (this one is not available where I live)
Yes ! I did a whole video ranking other ones, check these out:

This is LEGIT!!!!!
My man!!!!
@@MrFrankieJoseph dude NGL, changed my hair game straight up. You the man!

An honor lmao I’ll take that 😂
Bro I don’t even have curly hair. I just really love your vids haha
appreciate that!!! youre not missin much with the curly hair lmao
Bro where do you get your shirts they are sick
My man ! Most of my shirts are either from a thrift store of the Goodfellow line that’s at Target
ok i tried your last tip with the pomade and holy shit dude, my hair looked better than it ever has with leave in conditioner, curl creams and gels like ever
gonna try this now :D
ayy!!!! im glad to hear that!! i was having the same problem with all that shit and then pomade came to me like a fever dream lmao
What do you use for shampoo/conditioner
I use dr teals. But anything without sulfates or parabens will work great, should say right on the front of the bottles 🤙🏼
Bruh this guys hilarious. Tossed you a subscribe brother
Glad you’re here my friend 🙏🏼
What do you tell your barber for the length of your hair?
I usually go in and then tell them i just need it thinned and shaped up. Not to take off too much length. My exact words are something like “i just don’t wanna look like a chia pet” 😂 it just needs to be the same length all the way around, if i pull the front of my hair down straight it goes a little past my nose
My hair didn't start getting curly until I was around 30.
It got curly, then grey, then more so around 40. Talk about weird.
Perhaps I could have hair like Mel Gibson's William Wallace by 50, but probably not. lol
Lmaooo if you do please let us all in on your secret 😂😂
Doesn’t really work my hair just falls back down? Any thoughts
@@MrFrankieJoseph yeah took a look at the video, i do it the same way but my hair only goes down to nose/lips when i pull it down, might just be too short and is a length issue atm, since all my hair just flops back forward when i push it back in the video or try the slick, cheers for helping tho!
thanksss
bro youre so funny thanks a lot
How often do u shampoo/conditioner your hair?
shampoo once a week (maybe a little longer) and condition every couple days !
@@MrFrankieJoseph do u have a recommendation for a conditioner because im using a cheap one that always dries out my hair
@@fben5534 im using dr. teals - but as long as there's no parabens or sulfates itll be good for your hair!
Bruhhhh.....
I subscribe ☺️👍🏻
Why not hair styling powder?
Great question. Every time I’ve used it it tends to dry my hair out, but that was years ago when I had no idea what I was doing lol might try again
What’s your haircut called?
Doesn’t really have a name, it’s just pretty much the same length all around. If i pull the front down over my face it goes about to the end of my nose
@@MrFrankieJoseph thanks! I just finished watching your other video where you explain in a bit more detail what your haircut is called and what to ask for at the barber’s/hairdresser’s. I’ll try this cut out 😁
Tried it, so far it's good but i think next day it will explode for sure
There is absolutely no doubt about that
@@MrFrankieJoseph actually yeah it did explode 😂 it lasted around 12 hours with cantu curl cream
No one has struggled more with their hair than curly headed people 😂
A nightmare that only we know
